How to unlock the Dirty Tricks achievement in Batman: Arkham Knight - Definitive Guide

When in the Batmobile, hold cn_RT and cn_X while in driving mode to drift either left or right in a doughnut. Do this for three minutes and the achievement will unlock.
EDIT:

Here is a game clip that I have recorded as a visual aid in case my description was unclear. Hopefully this helps some of you guys who are saying this isn't unlocking for you.

EDIT 2:
Driving at high speeds before going into the doughnut is reported to be working for some people, so if you are having problems unlocking this, attempt this method too.
(Thanks for the tip HalfEVILmonkey)

@BoB RooRsmoker- That's the exact method that I used to get the achievement. Either the achievement is delayed in unlocking for you or you haven't done this for long enough. Can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't work. Sorry.

Work for me smile
The achievement popped after about 1 minute and 20 seconds so this doesn't all have to be done in one go.

I'm not sure why it isn't unlocking for you guys. I have heard that the game is having some problems at the moment on PC, so maybe something could be wrong on the consoles too? Hopefully you will get it soon.

I have uploaded a video to show what I was trying to describe in case it was unclear. Hope it helps everyone! :-)

Okay I have confirmed through reliable sources that in order to get the doughnut method to work, you need to be going at a high rate of speed and then transition into a doughnut for it to register.

My advice would be to find an open space and use the same method and occasionally release the x button and hold it again.

Oh not sure this matters or not just an observation, usually when drifting around the rear wheel break discs where glowing read, if you use the method in the OP they do not glow red. Could be nothing, could be something.

going forward and then doing a continuous donut worked for me...sitting still doing a donut didn't work.

If you start from stationary, the brakes will start glowing red and this time does not appear to register (I did for over 3 minutes straight with no luck). By driving forward first and then initiating the doughnut, the brake disks did not glow red and the achievement unlocked.

Just to confirm make sure neither the front or the back brakes are glowing red and after 3 minutes you'll get your cheevo.

I can confirm this method works as I literally just unlocked it. You want to get some speed and initiate the donut. A stand alone donut with no momentum will not count, I found that out.

Also like someone had mentioned make sure the back brakes are not glowing red. They will initially but then it will disapate after a couple of seconds.

Do not waste your time doing doughnuts or figure eights, just play the game. Thanks to the latest update. I can prove that the achievement is indeed cumulative, I was doing an AR Challenge and it just popped. Just hold X while driving with RT and it will pop eventually. In my video at around the 1:41 mark the achievement just pops after a standard 3 second drift.

Yeah, just hold cn_X every time you take a corner while driving somewhere and you will get it eventually. It didn't take me very long after I began doing this.

Hey guys, I'll be adding onto Mr Chr15topher guide here and making things more clear for you all.
To start your drift hold down hold RT and X and you'll start to to do a doughnut you have you have to drift for a whole 3 mins. It can done be over time. Because I started and failed and then drifted for maybe 1 min after and it popped way before 3 mins. Also , make sure the whole car is moving not just the back wheels I noticed it only worked when the front and back wheels were moving as if i were drifting normally and getting speed before starting is a must.

You CANNOT just sit in one spot with the front wheels staying in place and going in a circle it will not work.

Here's a video if you are still having trouble showing you the way it should look like and they it shouldn't look like.

How you should be doing the drift starts at 7 seconds into the video and How you shouldnt be doing it starts at 20 seconds, You can see if you're doing it wrong if any of the wheels are red hot.

EDIT: If you vote neg id like a reason why to help me improve my guide. Because I feel like this was spot on.

You don't need to spend 3 minutes of your life doign this at one time. This is cumulative, so make sure you press the cn_RT cn_X every time you make a turn on the streets.

Currently there are people online claiming this trophy can only be done right at once while grinding for it (and is therefor called a dirty trick) but it's actually accumulated over the course of the game. I can vouch for that since the trophy unlocked for me during a chase in which I drifted very little.

That being said, three minutes is a lot and even if you complete everything else, you may not even get close to this. In that case (or in case you just want this trophy over and done with) you can start grinding.

The grind:
While in normal Batmobile mode, use cn_R2 to start driving and then cn_S and cn_LSl (or cn_LSr) to start making small drift circles. Note that some people have found that simply starting to drift from a parked position won't work, they have to start a drift while already going at a little bit of speed. The difference is when starting from a parked position, a drift will rotate around a single front wheel which will remain stationary, while starting to drift when already driving will ensure that all four wheels are part of the drift.

You don't need to do anything special for this one.

If you plan on doing any of the Batmobile race tracks, you'll get this one. It adds up all the time you've spent drifting, it doesn't have to be all at once. Many of those race tracks, especially the DLC ones require you to do some drifting to get the best times, so this one will come naturally as you're playing.

The three minutes for this trophy does not have to be done in one contiguous power slide, though I don't know if this is carried across saves.

If, like me, this is one of the few that you have left, there's a little on-ramp next to the GCPD that I used to go in circles. Go up the on-ramp on the side of the building and you'll come to a little island that splits the highway from the on/off traffic. I simply did big sliding loops clockwise around this island. With a little practice, it's possible to slide almost constantly around this spot with little interference. You can probably get your three minutes in about 3.5-4 minutes here.

Remember that once you are sliding, you can control how tight the turn is by pushing cn_LSl or cn_LSr.

Drifting is accomplished by holding the accelerator, , and as you turn the Batmobile. This achievement is cumulative and could come naturally through natural play as you will be spending a lot of time in the Batmobile as you complete the missions. If you want to get it out of the way you can use the video below for a good location to simply donut the Batmobile until the achievement unlocks. One trick you can use is to blow your afterburner to achieve more speed, this is also helpful as drifting will refill your afterburner meter. So if your meter immediately begins to refill you will know you are successfully drifting.

If it doesn’t fall out during the passage or you can’t wait to get this trophy, then hold down R2 + and circle around until the end of the day *ding*

(If it doesn’t work out, then go to the place indicated in the video)

Video , it’s essentially not needed, but I’ll just leave it “whatever it was”

Nothing was fixed.

Just before you start drifting, you need to drive a little while pressing p2, and then press square and drift.

The trophy seems to be buggy, or this boosting method was removed with a patch. I circled for more than 7 minutes, they didn’t give me the trophy ((

I have to wait 10-20 seconds, they didn’t give it to me right away either

Before drifting, skid a little, then drift, then drive a little again - the trophy fell right away.

The video from Chronicle shows everything boosting correctly. Even with new patches.
Boost the trophy exactly in this place, which is in the video.

The trophy must be completed in the same place as in the video. I tried it in other places and it didn’t work.

You can draw “donuts”, but not on the spot. Clamping + You can drift along a small radius by steering in one direction.

When drifting correctly, you can see how the rear wing rises, just when you hold it down + it didn't work out. And when I let go a little you can see how the wing rises, he knocked it out immediately.

I'll add. In order for it to fall out, you have to not just circle in place, but start driving and then drift (on the spot)!
