How to unlock the Gangland Express achievement in Batman: Arkham Knight - Definitive Guide
EDIT (12/9/15): Assuming you have access to the Season Pass/All DLC packs, there are now 60+ stars that you can earn to unlock this achievement. This means that you do not have to get 3-stars as much, as 2-staring most tracks will be enough for the achievement. I have included at list of the updated tracks at the end of this guide.
For this achievement, all you need is to have 33 stars TOTAL. You do not need to 3-star the maps that came with with Tumbler. I just got 33 stars, and the achievement popped right away. I am going to detail the maps I did since the Tumbler handles like the Mako in Mass Effect.
I would recommend getting 3-stars in all of the single lap courses first(including the 1989 maps), as those are very do-able. I got 3-stars in all of the following, unless I note otherwise. They are the following:
1-Lap Races:
-Ashes
-Cataclysm (this one can be a pain, but it's better than the 3-lap)
-Cobblepot's Causeway
-Joker Parade (I only got 2 stars here)
-Midnight Fury TT (Time Trial)
-Crushonator (Riddler Course)
-Condamned (Riddler Course)
-Mental Blocked (Riddler Course)
Don't forget you can also do some Hybrid Maps as well:
-Seek and Destroy
-Road Rage
Finally, I slugged my way through the following 3-Lap races:
-Ashes (2 Stars)
-Cataclysm (1 Star)
-Cobblepot's Causeway (1 Star)
I did not even touch the following:
-Joker Parade: 3-Lap Race
-City Heat TT
Hope this helped! Happy Gaming.
EDIT (12/9/15):
1-Lap Races:
- Penguin Dockyard
-Batcave Set
-Ashes
-Cataclysm
-Cobblepot's Causeway
-Joker Parade
-Midnight Fury TT (Time Trial)
-Cauldron Speedway TT (Time Trial)
-Crushonator (Riddler Course)
-Condamned (Riddler Course)
-Mental Blocked (Riddler Course)
-Batmobile Proving Ground
Don't forget you can also do some Hybrid Maps as well:
-Seek and Destroy
-Road Rage
3-Lap Races:
-Penguin Dockyard: 3-Lap Race
-Batcave Set: 3-Lap Race
-Joker Parade: 3-Lap Race
-Ashes: 3-Lap Race
-Cataclysm: 3-Lap Race
-Cobblepot's Causeway: 3-Lap Race
-City Heat TT
-Batmobile Proving Ground: 3-Lap Race
-Waynetech Loop
The Tumbler Batmobile is...heavy. It literally FELT heavier while driving.
For example, I utterly destroyed the maps that came with the 1960's Batmobile, got all the stars, had a great time doing it. I replayed those same maps with the Tumbler and found that it had a much harder time making those jumps and those tight corner drifts.
It's not a MAJOR difference between the Tumbler and the other Batmobiles, but it is there.
Still, don't stress too much over it, there's a large number of maps to earn stars in and you only need 33.
Make sure you have all the Batmobile-related AR challenges from the base game unlocked. Once that has been done, access the “AR Challenges” via the game’s nain nenu and scroll over to “Batmobile Races.” Every single track here, from the vanilla game tracks - to the 1989 Movie Batmobile DLC and 2008 Tumbler DLC tracks - can be played using the Tumbler skin. If you scroll over to “Batmobile Hybrid,” you’ll see that the “Seek & Destroy” challenge and the “Road Rage” challenge are also playable with the Tumbler.
Unlike the previous Batmobile-related achievement, there’s not a set amount of challenges restricted to the Tumbler. What this means is that you have a little leeway in picking and choosing which Challenges you obtain your Stars. Do you want to skip the Ashes 3-Lap and Cataclysm 3-Lap Races? That’s fine; you can substitute them with Cobblepot’s 1-Lap and Joker’s 1-Lap Races. Likewise, you can pass on the hybrid challenge entirely and do any of the tracks from the previous DLC.
Whichever way you decide to tackle the races, once you have obtained at least 33 stars using the Tumbler skin, this achievement will finally unlock.
Plus, if you have the 1989 Batmobile movie set, you can drive all 4 unique races from this set (by selecting the Toggle in advance), which will give you 12 extra stars. That is, in fact, you need to take not 33/33 stars, but 33/45 stars.
