How to unlock the Gotham After Midnight achievement in Batman: Arkham Knight - Definitive Guide

At bare minimum you need need to have unlocked the Grapnel Boost MK II, although the higher upgrade levels may provide you with more speed for this achievement attempt.

You'll want to start at street level and then use your Grapnel to shoot a corner of a building or some other object above the street levels. Use your boost to shoot up and over whatever object it is that you choose to use your Grapnel on, transition into a glide, then dive straight down towards the street, level out before you hit the ground, and then try your best to stay low as long as possible without breaking your glide. You'll want to pull up just a little bit in order to prevent yourself from losing altitude and touching the ground. You'll need to stay at least 10m from the ground which can be a little tough to estimate, but I found that as long as you below the top of the street lights, you'll be fine. The achievement will unlock upon landing.

Same for me as demented, so dunno the actual requirements.

I also did it without using any gadgets, during a mission whilst tailing penguins car. Dove off a building, straight down, pulled up and followed the car almost at street level for ages. Then it popped.

I was able to get this achievement to pop after getting the riddler trophy above the entrance to Fillions dept store, on Founders Island. There is a point in the main story arc that takes you right to where this trophy is located, but its one of those ones where you have to go to certain coordinates on the map then try to make it back to the trophy on time. The route the game makes you take to do this makes getting this achievement easier because you have a target to aim for. Hope this helps!

Not really a comment on the solution, more a comment on the actual achievement. Didn't warrant a "solution post" though.

For some reason this achievement is described as "Glide 400 metres, less than 20 metres off the ground" on my xbox one achievement list, whereas here it is described as "Glide 200 metres, less than 10 metres off the ground"

Either way it has unlocked for me - just thought it was strange

I have found an easy way to get this achievement that requires no upgrades of any kind, and can be done as soon as the game allows you to free-roam. What you need to do is head to the Merchant's Bridge (where the first mutilated body can be found). Climb to the top of the bridge's supports, which has you about 60 meters off the ground. Dive bomb from there to the street surface, then even out over the cars, heading south. Glide 200 meters or more, without ever straying above 10 meters from the road surface. This route can be tricky, as the street starts to curve downward (because you're gliding over a ramp/slope), so you must follow the curvature of the road without ever hitting the floor.

Using this method, I was able to glide almost 400 meters in one tilt, with no upgrades to my gliding, grapnel hook, or anything else aiding traversal. The fact that the road you are gliding over tilts downward adds almost 150 meters of distance on it's own, which you'll never actually hit the road unless you make an error on the joystick (Batman won't naturally sink to the street as it's curving away from him). At the end of the glide, you should end up about here.

The achievement description now reads "Glide for 400 meters while less than 20 meters from the ground" instead of "Glide for 200 meters while less than 10 meters from the ground" so it has been changed and I believe that it isn't cumulative because I was trying for ages to get it, travelling some distances so I must have gone over 400 feet cumulatively. Either that or it is glitched in some way.

At the very start at the top of the screen you will see I have my grapple upgraded which boosts the speed. I spent ages trying to get this over water but finally thought it was too difficult to judge the height, so I started trying over roads by grappling over buildings to build speed before dive bombing down. I got this by chance along this stretch of road in The Cauldron which has arches/signs over the road and lampposts that helped me get the right height. The achievement popped just before I landed.

I believe this is true. When I unlocked it, the description on the Xbox read "Glide for 400 meters...". I had a couple of attempts that i know were over 200m, and it didn't pop. It's either been changed or the original description is wrong.

Pretty sure this is cumulative. I just unlocked it while doing the bank side mission. Noway did I glide for 200 feet consecutively. No need to do fancy stuff for this. Just make sure to glide around a lot.

Batman Arkham Knight – Gotham After Midnight

Welcome back for another DaddyGotGameTV guide. In this video I will be helping you get the “Gotham After Midnight” Achievement/Trophy. To get this you will have to glide 400 meters while staying less than 20 meters off the ground. This can be done from the start of the game with no upgrades needed. This achievement is also accumulative, meaning that every time you are gliding less than 20 meters from the ground, it will count towards this. I will be showing you how to get it all at once.

Let me know what you think in the comment section below, and thank you for watching. If this has helped, please Like, Subscribe, and Share. This has been another episode of DaddyGotGameTV

You can do this right from the start of the game by gliding through Gotham. You do not have to do the glide in one fell swoop. The achievement is a cumulative glide time accrued over the course of total game play. I got the achievement after gliding 5 feet,
. The glide time accumulated over the course of 5 different gaming sessions, in one saved game, played over two days.

The quickest and easiest way to get this achievement is the Glide Kick. Hit cn_X while above an enemy, swooping down to take them out. Make sure the Bat signal is above the enemies head for the Glide Kick. Achievements like this, and others that are not story related, will unlock in AR Challenges.

To start, simply climb any of the tall buildings around Gotham, jump off, and then dive bomb as far down to the ground before pulling back up just before you reach the ground. Now that you're just above the ground (hopefully around 20 meters), attempt to glide continuously, uninterrupted for 400 meters. It may help to set a waypoint 400+ meters away from your dive bomb so you'll know how close you are to your end goal. Once the glide has been successfully completed, the achievement will unlock. It's been reported that this achievement could also be cumulative so if you fail you could still be making progress towards the achievement.

If you have played previous versions of the Batman games, then there should definitely be no complications with this trophy.

We find a high point (you can right at the very beginning of the game when you are given control of Batman) and dive, closer to the ground we simply stop diving and fly 400 meters above the ground.

If you still don’t understand how to do it or where to do it, here’s a detailed video

A very convenient place to knock out a trophy is the bridge, where we find the killer’s first victim. We climb higher and dive, there is a wide road and it constantly goes down, which makes it easier to control the altitude. It might be useful.

In fact, you don't have to look for a suitable place at all! The trophy is very easy. We pump the cable launcher to the maximum or eject from the Batmobile to the maximum - we fly out like an arrow and fly over the road. There should be enough speed to spare.

In short, let's squeeze and run from the roof. As soon as we begin to fall, then, without releasing anything, press the RT key. This is vertical acceleration. And then quickly move the stick down and release RT .

This will allow you to accelerate and fly about 400 meters.
