How to unlock the The Long Halloween achievement in Batman: Arkham Knight - Definitive Guide

I wasn't going to post anything for this achievement seeing as everyone knows how to get it, But there were few people struggling with it.

So here are some tips for your new game + run, If you were like me when going for this achievement it was the last one on my list to do before completing this game so I ran through it as fast as possible.

Tips: Be aware the game sets you on Knightmare mode and you will not be able to switch your difficultly, Also remember that it doesn't tell you when to counter. So some fights can be tough.

EDIT: You only need to beat the main story for this achievement all side missions can be skipped.

Parts you might get stuck on:

Sneaky tank Part/ Chasing ArkhamKnight

There is one part of the game were you need to sneak by some tanks to get into this room where a bunch of thugs will charge in. If you're still confused about this part a tank will burst through the door at the end of the fight. Anyway, For this fight I thought it made it alot easier using the lights to take out the sword users and brutes. Also getting your combo high enough to use a any kind of take down helps a lot as well.

Now you guys might get stuck at other parts throughout the game, Im just giving you tips for the parts I had alot of trouble with.

Red Hood Boss Fight

The next part I had trouble with was taking out the red hood, What I found the easiest to do was to bum rush him when he wasnt looking. Not killing any thugs till he was taken out. This worked for me not sure if it will be easy for you to do. You can tell when to rush when hes looking away from you and nothing is around you. You can easily just get right under him and take him out. Then after that just take out the thugs and repeat.

Defending the Police station

This part is a lot easier then you think, The first part where you need to get into the bat mobile try to emp as much as you can and take out every tank she hacks for you, And I would suggest having you bat mobile fully upgraded by this point for the double dodge skill for it( This helps alot).

Once you made it past the tanks you will go onto the roof which has to be the hardest part of the game so far, For this part you'll get stuck with a couple of guys and brute. I suggest taking the brute out with the fence right off the bat and then dealing with the rest of the guys. Next more will get dropped off including a medic, Now what I did when this happened I would first take out the medic and then try to deal with the rest of the thugs using a lot of the environment. Once you get the cut scene you're safe and got a checkpoint(Thank god) Next you'll be faced with 2 Brutes, What I did was kill one with the environment next I just used a normal takedown (B+Y), It might take 2 of those to take him out, Next was medics and sword guys. for both I used a lot normal takedowns. But once you've done all this you're home free!!

Good Luck to you all!

If you vote neg or think i should add another part of the game please let me know and Ill add it. Also I know a guide like this wasnt really necessary, But I seen a guide for the riddler trials haha. I thought if i were to make a guide I'd make a nice one that should hopfully help anyone going for this achievement. Thank you!! toast

I hardly think that the combat with goons is the hardest part. It's that bloody tank battle with AK towards the end. I can totally foresee that goddamn Batmobile preventing me from finishing this game

Well just try emping as much as you can, I found it helped because it made it so not alot of tanks were aiming at you and then shoot all of the tank she hacks for you. Then dodge alot, It really helps to have the double dodge just incase you dodge into a rough spot you can just dodge right back out.

Good luck njDevil Im sure you can do it :)

Can you do NG+ on any difficulty, or is Easy locked out like the previous games?

Heres a quote from my guide 'Tips: Be aware the game sets you on Knightmare mode and that it doesnt tell you when to counter. So some fights can be tough. "

You are locked on Knightmare mode for all of ng+ So I would suggest doing every other achievement on easy then going into ng+ For this achievement :)

But thank you I will make it more clear for everyone else!

Does Knightmare Mode mean "instant death and start from the beginning mode"?

No, Thank god. You just take a lot more damage from enemies and the game doesn't tell you when to counter.

Thought I'd post a combat tip to anyone having trouble with some of the larger battles.

If you're striking properly with X (so not mashing) then your combo meter should fill completely every 3 hits.

My strategy has been to hit 3 separate enemies and then quickly hit B+A for the multi-takedown. This way I'm taking 3 enemies out of the fight every few hits and thinning the numbers super quickly. Not the sexiest way to fight but it's efficient and helps when you have 20+ enemies in some of the later fights.

Is it enough to beat the main story in ng+ to get the achievement or are the side missions needed too?

You just need to beat ng+ main story for this achievement : )

NG+ was pretty easy. I died a couple of times, but never tried a part more than 3 times. Using Y+B takedowns on the harder enemies takes away most difficulty.

Yea its not all to hard, But its for the players that are having some trouble. But the y+b takedowns is the key.

Easiest way to deal with medics (including the ones on the roof) is just grapple up and use the Disruptor on their packs. They'll shock themselves (recommend getting this upgrade as soon as possible) It's really not too bad.

One thing I found incredibly useful for fights was the Special Combo Freeze Blast, under combat upgrades. When you get your combo up, pull right trigger twice, holding it on the second pull. While it doesn't knock anyone out, I found that taking three enemies out of the fight for a minute helped immensely.

Everyone saying Using Y+B takedowns are the key.
Isnt that the case all the time anyway. what have people been doing normally, just constantly striking & Evading?
as soon as i can use a takedown, i use it.

Not always a good idea to waste it on a single Takedown. If you have the takedown where Batman jumps into the air and tosses Batarangs at guys dizzy on the ground, those are multiple insta-kills right there. that works way better and ends fights much quicker.

For the rooftop fight you can use the batmobile.. from where you first eject from the car there is a ramp to the back right.. if you pack the car on/near it you can draw your enemies to the right hand side of the building and remote control the bat mobile to shoot them.. you can shoot 3-4 at a time before you have to draw them back to that side

Completed this on PC and I can say that NG+ was somewhat hard, but not much. As for the defending part at GCDP in the tank. When you come out just go to the left, destroy the wood and go in there and every tank will come to you and you can pick them off and just move out to shoot the EMP one :P

I'm in a similar kind of place - I just finished the NG+ story, but no sign of this achievement. You're sure it hasn't been patched to need Knightfall or something like that?

I can now see that I appear to still be stuck at 190% story, even though I've finished the last mission. Any ideas what the last 10% might be? Seriously hoping this isn't a glitch.

Red Hood is not in the main story, the only place he shows up in the game is in the DLC challenges. You should change the guide to say Arkham Knight boss fight as to avoid spoilers.

Posting this here, as it was something I was wondering.

This took me about 8 hours in total one Saturday, skipped all cutscenes and flew straight to next missions.

Could probably do in 6.5-7 hours, but I got stuck on a few bits in there and had a few retries.

By my second playthrough I was a lot more confident handling the Batmobile. Even so, when defending the GCPD I found it helpful to make my way to the rear of the police building. This forced the drones to a slow procession and kept them from overwhelming me.

Agree with SKORPIONIC. If you just retreat into the alley right next to the garage, the tanks have to come at you 1 at a time. And I never used the EMP, I always used the hack. That removes 3-4 right off the bat because the hack never ends until they're destroyed, and they might take a few other drones out along the way. It's not a very cinematic way to win the fight, but you're Batman dammit, you fight tactically.

Wow, the end with drone fight and the combat after that was tough! On the rooftop. Even the joker fight was painful, due to not seeing the counter attacks.

I've found NG+ to be harder and easier simultaneously. Earlier challenges are much easier with all of the gadgets and upgrades, some of the combat challenges are harder but you just gotta watch for the swords/blades which is the hardest to deal with imo.

One thing I'm either noticing or maybe making up is that you don't like auto focus on like charging enemies, so you definitely have to be more aware of your surroundings.

I'm almost 80% done with NG+, and I love it. My plan is to get all achievements before actually beating it then having the "initiate Knightfall" achievement being the last one (till more DLC comes out) Seems like a fitting ending

So I'm guessing you have to be online to get the achievement to pop? Finished the last quarter of ng+ offline and nothing. Can I get confirmation on that from someone so I know it didn't glitch or something please?

Phew! Reloading from a backup save ( http://community.wbgames.com/t5/Support/HOW-TO-Access-Save-G... ) and redoing a mission seemed to push me up to 200% and the achievement popped! Crisis averted!

I just wanted to add something here, i know it's a little late. but i was a late buyer.
If you're expecting something extremely difficult in this achievement. it's really not, i personally found the achievements: A requiem for a killer, the curtain falls and the chill in the air, much more difficult than this achievement.

Especially the first few hours of new game+ were more easy than the regular playthrough, since you have all the gadgets at your disposal, even ones that'll make things easier, even though you shouldn't have them at that point yet.

Also, some tips. Since you do have the voice gadget (excuse me, English is not my main language, i don't know what it's called). If you're in a predator type situation where there is one of those annoying machine gun guy (Yes, the big ass one). You can use the voice gadget to lure him to a weapon's crate which you used the disruptor on., it'll incapacitate the big guy instantly.

for big fights with alot of regular thugs, or thugs with sticks and electric sticks. Use the cn_A + cn_B combo attack ALOT. after you knocked down 3 or something. that will help alot in the fight

As EQ GreenArrow points out, one of the hardest (if not the hardest) fights is on top of the GCPD building. Here's a tip to a good start of that fight:
When you grapnel your way to the roof (when Oracle tells you on the comms she can help you take out thugs, you just have to set them up) stick to the LEFT side on your way up. On the right side there's 2 thugs by the elevator, you wanna go up on the other side (pretty much straight up from the checkpoint). When you get to the roof on the left side (maybe hop down over the railing) you can FEAR MULTI-takedown a thug. Depending on upgrades (I assume most people have this skill upgraded to x5 at this point) you can take out 3-5 thugs before the fight really starts!
I know thugs aren't the hard part of this fight, but every bit helps and this sets you up for a good start.

Just in case anyone was wondering, this Achievement unlocks AFTER you defeat Scarecrow, the cutscene plays and you deliver him to Cash at the GCPD and the elevator door closes. For me the Achievement showed up while Batman was talking to Alfred after the elevator door closed.

Also, you do NOT need to 100% the game on New Game Plus to get this Achievement, you only need to complete the "City of Fear" Most Wanted mission to 100% to get the Achievement, so unless you skipped getting the complete Knightfall Protocol on your first game, you don't have to bother with ANY of the side missions on New Game Plus. It will make it a lot faster and easier to get this Achievement if you skip all the side missions. Basically, unless it's part of the "City of Fear" missions, you can skip it.

Also in case you were wondering, you can NOT wear any of the awesome DLC Batsuits for the final cutscenes. Even if you equip a different Batsuit when entering the final story mission area, the game will revert you to the standard Batsuit when you reach the final story area. Which made no sense since the initial cutscene where you put on the Batsuit works with every DLC Batsuit.

It’s because it’s pre-rendered. The cutscenes that are real time can wear the other suits

It's stupid that they let you play the entire game as Keaton's Batman but then force you out of it for that one cutscene.

This is the only achievement tied to the New Story + mode, which unlocks after you complete the game for the first time. A few things to note about new game plus are:

  • The difficulty is automatically set to Knightmare
  • The yellow counter indicator and the red danger indicator are turned off.
  • Enemies have more health and hit harder.
  • Enemy vehicles do increased damage and fire faster, their line of sight indicator will still appear however.
  • All of your gadgets and upgrades carry over.
  • All of the Riddler Challenges carry over.
  • Side mission progress will be reset.

To unlock this achievement you only need to power through the main story and defeat Scarecrow. Try to avoid unnecessary fights and this shouldn't be too difficult with a fully upgraded Dark Knight.

In order to gain access to the New Game +, you don’t have to complete the game below average, it also opens on easy!

As in previous parts of Batman, you will be offered to go through the New Game + with increased difficulty "Nightmare", on this difficulty the enemies hit harder and the icon above them for a counterattack is not displayed. In general, the second playthrough is not difficult.

The only difficult moment in NG+ is at the end. Defense of the police station. But this moment is easy to pass by hiding around the corner of the building - when exiting to the left, behind a wooden wall. Tanks are destroyed one at a time, when driving around a corner, with critical hits, you can also drive around behind the building and shoot from the other side. Pre-shoot down homing installations with your homing missiles (square).

There was a difficult moment when protecting the ivy tree in the cemetery, we had to follow her halfway up the hill and from there slowly extinguish everyone, as soon as we had accumulated a charge, we launched homing missiles.
