How to unlock the Vengeance Unlimited achievement in Batman: Arkham Knight - Definitive Guide
For this Achievement, you need to earn 21 stars as Harley Quinn, which is actually quite simple with all the AR challenges Arkham Knight has to offer. You should be able to unlock this by doing the Combat or Predator Challenges. You do not need to 3-star the challenges, just accumulate 21 total stars.
Combat Reminder/Hint: Environmental Takedowns are a x100 multiplier, so use them if available on a high combo. Also, for getting a freeflow perfection(never breaking your combo) you will score your strike counter multiplied by 100 at the end of the round. (22 combo x 100 = 2200 bonus)
A Hint as Harley Quinn:
-Harley does not seem to have many combos takedowns availabe to her, but she does have Mayhem Mode. Get special combo knockouts( + ) to build Mayhem Mode, and then Activate Mayhem mode by hitting . This will allow you to get FOUR special combo knockouts just by hitting . These will have a x50 multiplier on them, so use it when you have a high combo.
You can play the following challenges to get 21 stars(my stars are in parentheses):
Combat Challenges:
-Shark Bait
-Precinct
-High Interest (I had a hell of a time with this one. I had to have a Freeflow perfection, and activate Mayhem mode with a x40 combo to get all three stars. (3 stars)
-Flying Grayson (make sure to use environmental takedowns) (3 stars)
-Feline Frenzy (3 Stars)
-Newton's Cradle (3 Stars)
-Teen Titan (3 Stars)
-Combo Master (3 Stars)
-Tower Defense
-Azrael's Atonement (3 Stars)
Predator Challenges
-Jailbreak
-Stage Fright
-Vertigo
-Sky High
-Financial Crash
-Deconstruction
-Smash and Grab
-Terminal Velocity
-Revive and Shine
-Under the Pale Moonlight
That's a total of 60 Stars, so play at your strengths, and don't stress out too much.
Happy Gaming!
When selecting a challenge map in the AR Challenges Menu, you can now scroll left or right to choose which character you’d like to play as in three of the four base game combat maps (Gotham Knights excluded) and all four base game predator maps. Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, and Azreal will all be available by default, but Harley Quinn, Batgirl, and Red Hood are only available if you have purchased and installed their respective DLC add-ons. There are a total of seven achievements, one per character, all of which ask to accumulate 21 Stars in the AR Challenges.
As the roadmap details, these achievements are infinitely easier if you own Robin, Nightwing, and Catwoman’s Arkham Episodes. This is due to the fact that each episode brings one extra combat map and predator map, and since the base game predator challenges are a little too demanding, you can opt to obtain your 21 stars through the following maps:
- Shark Bait [Combat] – 3 Stars (available from Nightwing’s Episode)
- Scales of Justice [Combat] – 3 Stars (available from Robin’s Episode)
- Destruction Line [Combat] – 3 Stars (available from Catwoman’s Episode)
- Combo Master [Combat] – 3 Stars (base game)
- Tower Defense [Combat] – 3 stars (base game)
- Azreal’s Atonement [Combat] – 3 Stars (base game)
- Smash and Grab [Predator] – 3 Stars (base game)
Further, if you own any of the Challenge Pack DLCs, this will add even more combat and predator maps to the mix, meaning you can play around with where you want to obtain your Stars. For example, can grab a two Stars here, three there, maybe just one in a tough predator map…etc. Essentially, the more maps you have, the less stressful it is as you won’t have to always aim for three Stars on a map.
Keep the following tips in mind when working on each character’s achievement and you should have no issue getting them done in a few dedicated hours.
Combat Tips
- Aim for Environmental Takedowns when possible; their bonus points are huge
- Always vary your combat style; the more moves and quickfire gadgets you perform, the higher your variation bonus
- You get massive bonuses for perfect freeflow rounds and remaining untouched
- Dodge after every 1-2 hits…don’t just stand around or it’ll break your freeflow combo
- Harley Quinn’s Mayhem Mode allows her to perform up to four instant takedowns
- Azreal and Batgirl can perform “Disarm” Takedowns on enemies with batons, knives, or guns
- Robin and Nightwing have special “AoE Disarm” attacks (X+Y), which can disarm all nearby hostiles of their weapons
- Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, and Red Hood will not face any “Giant Thugs” in their Combat maps, just more shield-wielding enemies
- Harley Quinn, Batgirl, and Red Hood now all have WayneTech upgrades such as ballistic armor, critical strikes, and blade dodge takedowns
- Batgirl now has the Multi-Ground Takedown
Predator Tips
- Harley Quinn cannot perform Silent Takedowns
- Redhood’s “quickfire Batarang” (double tap left trigger) is a “quickfire handgun” and will instantly kill an enemy
- Catwoman is super fragile, but she moves faster than any other character and can climb on ceiling grating
- Robin DOES NOT hold any Smoke Pellets, so don’t get caught in the open; he can use his Bullet Shield to block gunfire or knock enemies down for an extended period of time
- Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Red Hood cannot perform Fear Takedowns
- Harley Quinn cannot use gargoyles for height advantage
With all of this in mind, it’s completely up to you in how you want to accumulate 21 Stars for each character. The above rundown is my personal preference of how to get these done with ease, but you can opt to mix it up however you’d like depending on your playstyle, available content, and amount of time.
NOTE: In the base game, the “Azreal’s Atonement” combat map needed to be completed with 3 Stars for an achievement. For some reason, these 3 Stars don’t count towards the 21 total with Azreal for his Shock and Aweachievement. Sadly, you will need to obtain three more Stars elsewhere with his character.
Set the difficulty to high, it gives extra points for maxing out the combo, so doing 15-25x combos in each round can earn you points for one star just from the extra difficulty points. There are also challenges where enemies spawn continuously, and difficulty points help a lot. In the only test - "Combo Master" the difficulty does not matter, only the duration of the combo is important.
