How to unlock the Jail Breaker achievement in BattleBlock Theater - Definitive Guide

As of May, 15, 2013 this achievement is finally obtainable and no longer glitched. Upon launching the game, download the update and it should unlock once the 50 prisoners are bought.

Note: It appears that if you already have 50 prisoners upon downloading the patch, in order to get the achievement, you need to purchase another head and it should unlock. For those who already had all of the prisoners upon downloading the patch, you will be unable to buy any more heads, but you can still get the achievement. Just trade a head away to a random or a friend then re-buy it from the head dispenser and it should unlock.

You unlock this achievement by purchasing any 50 prisoners from the gift shop. The
way that the gem pricing works is that the base value, with only the four default prisoner heads that you are given upon starting up the game, is 10 gems per prisoner. Once you reach 30 prisoners purchased in a specific head shape, the base price increases by 5 gems for that specific head shape. Once you reach 60 prisoners purchased of a specific head shape the price increases by another 5 gems for that specific head shape. Now once you own 60 prisoners in all of the head shapes combined, the base value of all prisoners increases by 5 gems. And continues to increase by 5 more gems at 120 prisoners purchased, 180 prisoners purchased and 240 prisoners purchased. With these values, the amount of gems needed to unlock 50 prisoners is going to vary, depending on whether or not you buy from the same head shapes or not. If you buy 50 prisoners, all from one head shape, it will take 29 heads * 10 gems (29 because you already have a default head of each shape) + 20 heads * 15 gems = 590 gems. The minimum gems you are going to spend on this achievement is 500 gems. Because you are buying 50 prisoners at a minimum of 10 gems per prisoner, 50 * 10 is 500 gems. So depending on your buying pattern, this achievement costs 500-590 gems.

I've reported this issue to the Microsoft side producer on the title, who is making sure The Behemoth is aware of this issue.

Thanks for the info.

So, should I just not purchase any prisoners until this is patched?

I'm personally just not purchasing over 50 prisoners. I have no clue if it will make any difference, but I am just paranoid.

Me too. I've purchased just one for the achievement for purchasing one and I am going to save up my gems until it is patched.

^ Yeah, they seem pretty receptive about the issues people are having. I'm not too worried about it

Im almost positive they will fix this. The Behemoth has a great support team and they have been known to follow through with things like this. I'm sure we'll see a patch soon. The only reason they haven't done it yet is because it would be silly to release an update with only one fix, so they are probably trying to fix multiple problems and then they will release the patch.

Hey C3llDW3LLER, I wouldn't worry about it, once the patch comes out, it will fix the achievement for everybody. It's been a month since they responded to my ticket and I opened it again asking if they have a release date for the patch and they said no but the responder said "I am literally looking at staffers working on a fix while i type" so It shouldnt be too long.

I am going to unlock everybody that I can purchase and hope that when the achievement is fixed, I will automatically get it.

Remember it took them quite awhile to fix Castle Crashers MP issues, so don't hold your breath!

It has been patched. If you have all heads and can´t buy one, just trade it and rebuy it later for the achievement smile

It shouldn´t be a problem, Behemoth will surely patch the issue for those with less or more than 50 prisoners. It´s a Microsoft published title too, I´ve yet to see a Microsoft title with glitched and not patched achievements...

If it was another developer, I would be scared. For the record, they had Alien Hominid with a glitched one too on release, and got patched later.

Prior to the first title update this achievement was glitched and unobtainable. For anyone who has passed the fifty benchmark before the patch, buying one prisoner from the machines will unlock it. If all prisoners have been unlocked before unlocking the achievement, then it is necessary to trade one prisoner away and then rebuy them from the machine.
