How to unlock the Going Places achievement in Battlefield 2042 - Definitive Guide

Edit: It seems you need to wait until level 15 to unlock Mackay.

Brutally easy to do if you try to just grapple as much as you can. You need to choose Mackay. Select his grapple. You will see your reticle is a square. When it is in range of something you can grapple it will turn into a diamond. Just try to aim as far as you can, and grapple as much as you, with a bit of cool down between grapples. I counted and it took me between 20 and 25 grapples. I estimated it would take me 100 since it seems he can only grapple about 3-5 meters. But... I am either really bad at estimating or its slightly bugged.

You should edit to let the inevitable dummies know that you need McKay, which is unlocked at Level 15. Does it tell you this clearly in the game? Yes. Will people ask why they can't select McKay anyway? Also yes.

So I spent a whole round just grappling on things, however I managed to get the achievement in a different match where I wasn't even trying to unlock it. So this "complete in one round" isn't true as of unlocking 13/11/21.

Same here, tried to grapple all map and nothing unlocked, didn't even get any progress

I think it's about the total distance, but not in one round. It passed me when I shot the line once. Before, I just played and I never achieved 1000m in one game.

It's definitely cumulative across rounds. I played two rounds in one session with Mackay and unlocked it early in the second after using the grapple five or six times.

I can confirm it is culmative and counts ALL grapple us, even when not Mackay. I just unlocked it as Falk while using one of the in-game grapple lines everyone can use.

Using Macay is incredibly bugged at the moment, instead use the support operator Flack and the built in grapple lines in the various maps, the best one I’ve found is on the map Renewal, US side there is a tower far away from the fight that you can go up and down without much interruption.

Do not worry about the progression bar as mine did not track, was still able to unlock after roughly 5 minutes of going up and down

can be obtained even without using an operative - I got it for climbing on the usual long zip-ties that are placed on the map Renewal (Egypt)

Here either the description of the achievement is incorrect, or it is buggy. 1000 meters does not have to be completed in one round; stats accumulate over the entire time. I got the trophy when, after the start of the match, I pulled myself up with a hook only two times onto not very large hills.

I didn’t try it for others, but playing as a mokey I just rode the same zip-tie in Singapore in the center of the map to the tower and the trophy fell out. So the zip feature works

As of March 2024, the zipline method is still working. I rode back and forth on the Cosmodrome map as Makei. The trophy dropped somewhere after 7-8 ascents and descents
