How to unlock the Jack of all Trades achievement in Battlefield 2042 - Definitive Guide

TL;DR
  1. Use the soflam once you hit level 56
  2. Level it up in solo coop until mastery 12 then move to breakthrough games.
  3. Sit back and scan the areas
Should go from mastery 0 to 40 in about 3-4 hours.

Long Winded Answer
After all of the updates and patches to make the proximity sensor less efficient and smoke grenades are slow, I wanted to share how I got this achievement.

I got this achievement in less than 3 hours playing breakthrough with the soflam. You don’t unlock this until level 56, but I decided to give it a try because the medpen was leveling slowly. In 1 match I hit mastery 5. I went to solo coop to level up to mastery 12 against the bots and then went to normal matches.

I tried to pick area that were far away, usually in my own spawn still, that would overlook an objective and just move the RS from left to right slowly. From what I can tell, you get 1 point for each spot and then you get another point for each assist. I’m not sure if you should be able to spot infantry like this, but I would give this method a try now in case they decide to patch it and let it only spot vehicles.

Just FYI to anybody looking to get this with the defibrillator, I got to the requisite 800 revives/kills for T1 last night and didn't get the achievement. A quick search online and I found out that using a gadget not from the launch of the game currently doesn't unlock the achievement. So unless they patch it later stick with equipment from launch.

EDIT: as of today's update, reaching T1 with the defib unlocks the achievement. Popped as soon as I entered a match.

Currently, the best way to get this is on the "Escalation Breakthrough" playlist. Very wide open maps that allow you to scan large areas at once, without getting into the thick of it.

+1 for the soflam. Just gone from 0 to 667 designations in about an hour of play, 128 breakthrough is best as people tend to bunch up hitting objectives. Can see this unlocking pretty quickly.

Unlocked this last night, got a couple pointers worth noting:
- the range of soflam is 100m-400m, anything outside this range will not be auto scanned and will need to be pinged with RB whilst using soflam.
- any target in smoke or in partial cover will not scan and will also need to be pinged with RB whilst using soflam.
- Turn off cross play! PC players have godly accuracy cause of all the settings and adjustments they have, you'll be a sitting duck wherever you are.
- Be patient, stay behind cover, find a good spot outside of the battle far away. Being right at the back isn't always the best option, sometimes prone behind a tree far left or right of the map provides better angles.
- Look for choke points where the enemy is bunched up trying to force their way through the line or a route where the enemy keeps running through from spawn. A quick soflam scan can net you 10+ spots before you need to hide again. Peek, scan, hide, repeat.
- Most important note, don't try and do this whilst working on a vehicle T1 badge, you're a massive target and toxic snipers love an easy kill. Work on getting your 4000 soflam spots separately, then look to working on your Vehicle T1 (LATV4 recon ect) with BOT lobbies until Mastery 12 before taking it to PvP matchmaking.

These are a few of the easiest challenges that I can see.

In order of unlock:

Smoke Grenade - You just need 4k thrown grenades, so if nothing else just throw 2 every time you respawn. Bring an ammo box if you just want to sit in a corner and get high.

Prox Sensor - Assists and Enemies Spotted count for this, I am leaning to believe if you tag someone and they get killed then you should get a point for each, if that is not true I will update this to reflect what is really happening.

Insertion Beacon - Teammates need to spawn on this, which can be hit or miss. If it is anything like previous BF titles then this should come actually pretty fast.

Med-Pen - Kills and Revives while it is "in loadout", this means just equipped, not in effect. Besides that grammatical issue then this is by far the easiest as you will get this naturally as you play.

IBA Armor Plate - Exact same as the Med-Pen

If any of this is wrong please let me know and I will do my best to update the guide.

prox sensor was apparently bugged after you reach lv 25, I am going to leave the guide as-is because that should be fixed pretty soon (they already fixed dozer's shield and that is now usable after all)

There is no particularly quick way to get this achievement, however the easiest way to do it is a method where you can continuously throw smoke grenades to get the 4,000 smoke grenade badge.

The idea of this is that you continuously throw down supply load outs so that you can quickly get your 2 smoke grenades plus 1 ammo box back.

At the bottom of this written guide is a video of the method in action, but here’s how you do it:

1. Go into a multiplayer game of conquest or rush and choose the specialist ‘Angel’. Then put your throwable as smoke grenades and your gadget as the ammo crate

2. find a spot where the enemies won’t kill you (aka anywhere in your spawn)

3. Put down a loadout crate (left on D-Pad then LT to switch it to supply drop and then RT to throw it)

4. Throw your 2 smokes, then throw down your ammo box, walk over your ammo box to get 1 smoke grenade back, then throw that 1 smoke grenade (so you would’ve thrown 3 in total)

5. Resupply from the loadout crate you just deployed and re-select your loadout. This gives you your 2 smoke grenades and a fresh ammo box back to you.

6. Rinse and repeat steps 3-5 until you get your achievement for throwing 4,000 smoke grenades. After a bit of practice you’ll become very quick at doing it and you’ll be throwing 15 smoke grandes a minute which will look something like this video of me doing it:

I’m going to start doing this tomorrow and so I was wondering how long roughly does this take?

If you’re starting at 0 thrown then you’re looking at 4 hours of purely doing this method. The prox sensor method used to be quicker but now the radius is tiny so there’s no quick way of doing this achievement

For me the Smoke grenades resets every time if I hit the 100 Throws :/

This method has been nerfed a bit. They put a timer on being able to access the loadout from the crate, even when you deploy a new one you have to wait to restock. So basically step 3 is a one time thing and you just have to wait to be able to reselect your loadout. Bunch of BS if you ask me. I'm convinced they did this just to mess with this method of getting the achievement.

I have been using the prox sensor on breakthrough with pretty good results. Got 100 hits in 2 rounds. Just keep throwing the prox sensor.

The best trophy gadget at the moment is the "reconnaissance grenades" that mark enemies. We throw at the point in the Breakthrough and catch assists.

In the Hazard Zone mode (Similar to a battle royale), we take smoke grenades, find a box with cartridges on the map, preferably on the outskirts somewhere and throw them, you need to throw smoke 4000 times.
You can sit while you wait for evacuation and then run towards it so that your partners don’t freak out too much)

After the nerf, the reconnaissance grenade can be boosted in a “breakthrough” using SOFLAM. The first three skill levels are best taken with bots. Can also be combined with LATV4 Recon upgrade.

I got the defibrillator, so you can try it, it’s the easiest and takes the least time

The defibrillator device does not count towards this trophy. He pumped the specialist falco and at the same time lifted people. I raised it 800 times, but they didn’t give me a trophy. Don't repeat my mistake. Now it’s not fun at all to download something else from scratch just for one last trophy.
PS: I finished off the trophy with smoke grenades, spending a couple of hours very quickly. We launch the Hazard zone, open the map, look where the box with cartridges is and run there, lie down and, not paying attention to anything, throw grenades. In about one card you will have time to throw from 500 to 800 times.

After the nerf, it’s easier to knock out grenades on armor or a syringe pen
