How to unlock the You can be my wingman anytime achievement in Battlefield 3 - Definitive Guide
Just fire bullets at them and don't use missiles.. you don't need to be accurate either and you will easily do this. just remmember to switch to the gun than the missiles! :)
also a word of warning to cycle back to guns after the cutscene midway thru!
works 100%
if you dont want to do this then check the video out!

Damn, thanks for that. Missiles were pissing me off, and that stupid opening was driving me insane. This method I did it first try. Worth noting that you can take as long as you want as long as you always flare enemy missiles and the Machine gun only seems to point straight forward, so you can only hit planes when they are directly in front of you.

This is not voted positively enough. This should be the top guide. I wasn't accurate at all. I was even firing the turret when there were no planes in front of me. As long as you take out the planes, and you aren't hit, this works perfectly. Probably alot easier than just firing missiles. Thank you so much for this guide.

Here is my Guide for this Achievement, is really frustrated but now we have a Vid :) (its easy difficulty! )
A perfect run is, no Hits, no reloading a Checkpoint, no Dashboard "trick" and 1 Shoots for each enemy Jet.
If you miss a Jet you must RESTART the complete Mission, its really sick...
If you have a Question, ask in the Comments.

I tried the rest then I tried the best this one, I kept dumping to many flares or not enough but the commentary was perfect and I got this second attempt. Not including the 60+ efforts trying my own and other solutions!

I had a few unclear moments. The video is good and peggleicious's points are valid. For people who might think like i do, a systematic list might be a little better.
Plane 1: Fire after 2nd flare
Plane 2: Fire as soon as you're locked
Plane 3: Fire as soon as you're locked
Plane 4: Fire after 2nd flare
Plane 5: Fire as soon as you're locked
Plane 6: Fire after 2nd flare
Plane 7: Fire after 3rd flare
Plane 7 does a barrel roll after firing his 2nd flare so the missile won't track on it.
One last note that may help. After the enemy plane fires a flare, a different pinging sound will ring. When you hear the pinging sound when the targeting says "Locked" it means if you fire your missile, at that moment, is tracking onto a flare and not the enemy plane.
Note: This guide was created during an "Easy" play through. I do not know how the other difficulties effect the planes.

Thx to both Rasterloda for the video, and to you for your 'precis'. I got it at the third attempt on easy using these two guides.

First of all, this will take some time and patience. You have to hit every enemy plane with one missile, and take no damage to your plane. There is no easy way around, you may not go back to a checkpoint or quit to dashboard. The only thing that works, is restarting the complete mission starting with the cutscene of Blackburn and the two agents.
I Recommend reading every guide and combine them to your own method. The guide of Immortal x Dead is good, but I always got the timings wrong, so I watched every video I could find and wrote down exact locations of where to shoot your missiles.
Some notes before the actual guide:
- This works on easy difficulty, but (at least for me) not on hard, as the timings are different.
- Considering your own flares: There are three different sounds when you are in defense mode: 1) slower beep - The enemy tries to lock 2) long steady sound - lock was successful 3) faster beep - enemy shoots missiles. At 3) you have to use your own flares.
- It's advisable to play the whole sequence flawlessy first with reloads from the checkpoints before you actually try to get the achievement. If you made it, load the whole level new and go for it as you then know what to do. The sequence on the ship is great the first time, entertaining the second time, but sucks as hell the 7th time.
- Considering the planes, you should shoot directly after lock: Wait for the lock to happen (steady sound). Firing too early will end in a miss.
- If you matched everything and the achievement does not pop after shooting the 7th plane: Don’t worry, you have to fly for about one or two minutes without doing anything after the 7th plane before it pops.
Enemy planes:
1st: Defend first, and then wait for him to get in front of you and waste two sets of flares after you locked. Let the smoke leave the screen to the right and shoot at the plane. If you shoot too late, the missile hits the 3rd set of flares.
2nd: Shoot immediately after lock.
3rd: Shoot immediately after lock.
4th: Do not try to hit him directy after lock. Let the plane get behind you, defend yourself and let your pilot get behind the enemy. He will go upwards to the sky and then drop down towards the ground while using flares. Wait for them to go away and until you see like 2/3 ground on the whole screen: shoot.
5th: Shoot immediately after lock. Hammer RT to get the missile away as fast as you can, if you are still reloading while targeting him.
A cutscene takes place and two enemies will be behind you, defend with flares.
6th: Wait for a set of flares. Afterwards the plane drops towards the ground and goes back up using flares. Wait for them to go away and shoot your rocket while you are almost only seeing the skyand clouds.
7th: Wait for the following sequence: Flares - barrelroll - double set of flares with barellroll in between. Wait for the 2nd part of the double set to go away and shoot.
For me, the timings on plane 1 (narrow window between flares two and three) and 7 (strange double flare at the end) where the most difficult to hit, so make sure to know when to strike before acutally going for the achievement.
Edit Nov. 9th: Thanks to yollom69, who pointed out that it is possible to earn the achievment while using the machine gun instead of missiles. This is also stated in the solution of MrSunchaser.

I know, there are already couple of solutions. But I found this video online, where you can just sync the video to your game and the guy on the video will tell you, what to do. It's very easy like that!

Works 100% -
Use the machine gun instead of the missiles.
For cheevo - you must not restart checkpoint, not die, not get hit, not miss with a single missile (so just don't use them!).
When bogeys are behind you and locking on, listen for the tone to switch to a stuttering sound and pop a flare. You can do this with your eyes closed.
Wait until the jets are around the front of your nose before you blast them with your machine gun.
(2nd bogey doesn't pop flares, and you could probably safely use your heat seeker on it)
I tried using missiles for a while and just couldn't get it. This technique nabbed it for me on my first try.
Wait until the sequence after the air-to-air combat sequence starts for the cheevo to pop.
Stay patient and stay cool!

Here is my video guide I thought I would add to the list as well.
Requirements for completing a perfect run are:
Can not miss a shot.
Can not get hit by anything.
Can not reload to a checkpoint have to start all over from the beginning of the level.
Tips - Recommend playing on easy, do not use guns just use missiles(RT). Lower right had corner of video you will notice a flare count. That's the number of flares the enemy jet will release, before getting a clear shot.

To get this one you have to not miss with a single missile during the dogfighting section. What's tough is that if you do miss you have to sit through that boring launch sequence all over again.
Do not stress though. If you NEVER use any missiles, that is to say just the guns, you will get this trophy without any effort. Just make sure you don't fire a missile at all and be warned the game switches you back to missiles at about the halfway point so look for that.

You have to note that you can't be hit by enemy missles either. So dump those flares whenever there's a missle incoming

A perfect run is no hits from enemy jets, no checkpoints to reload, no dashboard tricks to avoid restarting mission, and one shots for each enemy jet. If you miss a jet, you'll have to restart the mission to try again.
If there's a fast beeping sound you hear, it means that enemy is about to fire missiles at you, meaning you'll need to dump flares, but only do so when you see missile fire, otherwise, it'll hit you.
The order of the jet to follow is..:
First plane: Defend first, then fire your missile after the second flare.
Second and third plane: Fire once you're locked on.
Fourth plane: Defend first, then fire after second flare.
Fifth plane: Fire away once you're locked on.
You must defend against two enemy jets.
Sixth plane: Fire away after enemy dumps a second flare.
Seventh and last plane: Fire after third flare. The second flare jet will do a barrel roll, so hold your fire.
Achievement/trophy pops after a hefty amount of flying, upon being told to switch screens, and if you're successful.

You will need to have pacience
After you encounter the two Sukhois that fire cannon rounds, Shark 4-6 will dogfight the right Sukhoi. It bled its speed and stay behind of Shark 4-6. You have to look to the rear of the F/A-18 and follow him. The Iranian pilot will try to fire his missiles multiple times.
Every time that he tries to shot, your pilot will tell you: "He is tracking" "Enemy Lock" 'Dump Flaires" You can dump flaires when he says "Enemy Lock" or "Dump Flaires" or "Flaires Out,"Flaires Out". It´s an advertising to you. In a moment, your pilot will manage to stay behind him and says "Lock´em up Hawkings". When you lock the AIM-9 missile in him, WAIT ,because he will deploys several flaires to mess up your aim.
If you already plays at multiplayer, the best way to shot down a fighter or a helicopter is fire the AA missile or the SA-18 Igla or FIM-92 Stinger after the enemy pilot deploy his last flaires, because the missile will not find countermeasures;it´s the same thing at these mission. And the pilot helps you one more time: He says "You get tone",it´s time to fire your missiles! He also says: "Guns! Guns!",when he says it,you have to switch to cannon and fire its rounds. Note that, when he says "Guns! Guns",the enemy Sukhoi is very close to your airplane.
Note one more thing: if you miss a missile, the trophy will not appear, you have to restart the entire mission again.

n the mission "Going Hunting", you co-pilot a fighter jet. You will engage in dogfighting with multiple enemy jets. To get this achievement, you have to shoot down all 7 enemy jets with 1 missile each, whilst dodging all enemy missiles with your flares. Restarting a checkpoint will not gain you this achievement.
Alternative method: use the jet machineguns only.
