In Multiplayer, capture 10 flags in Frontlines
How to unlock the Hoist the Flag achievement in Battlefield V - Definitive Guide
EDIT: To Avoid further downvotes, Frontlines seems to be back in rotation semi-regularly and people are able to find a few games mostly during the weekends in 2021/2022! According to a few recent comments the achievement seems to be tracking your progress like its supposed to again. Hope everyone is able to get the achievement now!
Due to a low player count, the gamemode was removed with Domination on May 30th, 2019. The only way you'll be able to get this achievement now is if you manage to reach the 'Frontlines' part of the game mode 'Grand Operations'.

Yup! I got progress towards the achievement in Grand Operations. Thanks!

Just a note - not every Grand Operation has a Frontlines part. Only Battle for France (Twisted Steel, Arras) and Raid on Rotterdam (Rotterdam, Devastation) do.
Also, they have brought frontlines back a couple times for Tides of War, though it usually shares a playlist with something else. For example, when Marita was added, they had a playlist for Marita that went Domination - Frontlines - Frontlines (switched sides).

To get this achievement, you need to capture 10 flags during the game type Frontlines (you must survive the flag capturing. You will find this game type (currently) in
GRAND OPERATIONS
Currently, the GO Rotterdam campaign has frontlines on during DAY3 on the map Devastation. If you are looking in the custom games, you can look for either DEVASTATION map, FRONTLINES game type, OR you can look for Rotterdam map on Breakthrough game type. Joining the second one will ensure you have time to get the flag, however, you can always chance joining the frontlines game type right away, but usually, because of the slow loading times, you would join when it's too late.
You can also find Frontlines game type on the map Arras during DAY3 of the GO Twisted Steal. Here you can join Arras Frontlines to be right there on DAY3 or you can join twisted steal breakthrough and join on Day2.
MAKE SURE you join a GRANDOPERATIONS, as you can have most of these selections under their own gametypes.
To get this, you must be on the flag when the team captures it during the first part of day 3. It is best to find a place to hide and let everyone else fight it out. From what I can tell, defender or attacker doesn't matter on this day, as both teams are fighting for the same flag capture. Also, if you capture it and then lose the next phase, you can a chance to get a second flag on the same match. So you know, as soon as you get one, go take a coffee break and hope your team gets pushed back for another chance.
I should also note, that if you had previous progress to this, it may have been reset after the achievement fixing patch (as mine did). SO if you're returning to this, don't be surprised if your progress goes from 20% TO 10% AFTER capturing your first post 'fix' capture.
Previously, there was a game mode called Frontlines but due to 'low player count' they eliminated the game mode. However, DICE has hinted it could be back during limited timed events. Who knows?

Great guide! This needs to be way higher voted. I tried the updated guides that gave maps Frontline was available and suggested just searching maps and hoping to find Frontline. You can search forever that way. If you instead search within Grand Operations for the day 1 and day 2 maps that lead to Frontline you save a ton of time and can actually play the game instead of constantly refreshing the search. Got 3 flags in 1.5 hours this way.

As of 27/09/2019 none of the guides are updated. But this solution will help you to clarify things.
Update: Great addition from ShadyShall: Make sure to write down or memorise the Server number. This way you wont waste time joining to same server if you are too late for the flag.
Battlefield V's framework is completely broken, whenever you press button it will kick you out of the game. So you shouldnt check your achievement progress while playing the game. Recently patched.
First of first, Frontlines only avaliable in Grand Operations. To make it easier for you; uncheck everything on advanced search. Then under maps section only choose these 3 maps: Devastation, Arras, Rotterdam. DO NOT CHOOSE Frontlines Mode, if you do specify the mode nothing will show up on Server list.
After you set these 3 maps, only look for Frontlines games. It will be mixed with other game types. If nothing shows up, refresh by pressing .
Pick one of the Frontlines game, the game has to be just started otherwise quit and look for another server. So, some people may not know this but only first objective(flag) counts towards the achievement. Not the other 3 objectives you explode further in game.
After you captured the flag, dont check your progress, instead wait till game ends. Theres always another chance to get 2nd flag, that only happens if you dont explode 3 of the objectives and out of lives.
Since 4.4 update achievement progress is fixed. Feel free to quit the game and look for another Frontlines mode. Your achievement progress wont reset.

Thank you for the great tips and explanations, especially on the do not press the Xbox button on your controller! I got booted from two games.
Also can confirm this works. Joined frontline section of Arras, attacking side. We captured flag and I was part of capture. Finished remaining objectives and received 1 more flag capture towards achievement.

Easy as it sounds, just capture 10 flags in the game mode frontlines. I did this during early access, so there were no servers for frontlines at all (only conquest) so you have to play the infantry based playlist (TDM, Domination, and Frontlines). I will update the guide when they add frontlines servers..
EDIT (Thanks to Mr Dan Jones):
Just a tip if you press X when highlighting the Infantry Playlist you can see all the servers and what gamemode is currently active. Makes it a bit easier to find a Frontlines game.
Anyways, depending on the map you will have a set number of flags that you will have to capture and push your "frontline" towards the enemy base. This will take roughly 2 matches to complete (I got 8 flags on the map Twisted Steel because there are 5 total flags). Even if you or the enemy capture all the flags, the game is not over because you have to plant explosives at the enemy base, which is very difficult to do due to the spawn points. when you fail to plant the explosives (or vice versa) the last remaining flag opens up again so you can keep capturing until the game ends.
Please note, you only need to be in the flag area when the bar completely fills up and your team captures the flag, so try to survive when you are in the zone.
All in all, very simple achievement. let me know if I need to clarify or improve anything, thanks.

I tried and got it at 29/7/2020.
Frontlines are open again.
Select multi-player

Don't bother with grand operations. The glitch is fixed and when you get one flag the counter works.

With the actual game setup (no frontlines servers, only grand operations), I've done 20 games of GO in the attacking team (leaving server when i was on the defending team) without capturing any flag. Even in games where the attacking team dominated the other team with 4/4 objectives done in the 2 first days.
Then I've done 2 games in the defending team, on rotterdam GO, We were clearely dominated by the other team on the 2 first days, but for the third day in the church, we captured the flag 2 times in each match.
To resume, it seems to me that beeing in the defending team on rotterdam GO is the best game configuration to complete this achievement for the moment.
EDIT : works perfectly, 3 more games and boom achievement unlocked.

Easy and quick boost using community games. 4th December 2021. No need to touch Grand Operations.
Multiplayer > Community games
Tab across to DICE Configs and select Infantry Only and choose to save this config as your own. This config contains ONLY Frontlines mode.
Edit/remove maps not needed and adjust min player count to 4. Then save your config. In my case I removed everything apart from Rotterdam.
Fire up the config you just created and you will need a minimum of 4 players to start the round. People joining will be able to see the game you created in the community games browser.
Now people going for the achievement go and capture the first flag. Once done capture the next flag. (achievement tracker updates showing progress for both)
At this point you can either choose to quit and restart the server, OR probably just as quick is to go bomb the next two objectives. This map is tiny so doesn't take long.
Once done the round ends. Repeat 5 times and you will unlock the achievement.

To play Frontlines, go to Multiplayer and then on the right hand of the screen you can select it. You will most likely earn this trophy by the second round. It doesn't take long, just make sure you play the objective.
Update:
Frontlines mode WAS taken away. It is now available again but you can play grand operations until it cycles through the 2 games enough times for a chance at 10 captures if the game mode does disappear again for any reason. Although still obtainable this way, it makes this trophy requirements a bit of a grind.
To save time when using grand operations for this, use the below method:
1- Select Multiplayer
2- Go to Advanced Search (if you choose Grand Operations and list games it will only show games from your region)
3- Choose Grand Operations mode and set everything as any
4- Look for Airborne Twisted Steel or Airborne Rotterdam
5-When you are in the game look at the top left corner to see the Operation name, Battle for France and Raid on Rotterdam are the only two you will play Frontlines on. Arras and Frontlines on Devastation at Day 3 respectively.
6- Battle of Manhunt has the same map rotation as Battle for France but you will play Rush Large on Arras instead.
7- Do not search Frontlines server browser will not show them also if you join the game you may end up Day 2 which is Breakthrough or even Day 3 Frontlines even it shows as Airborne in the server browser.

Community Game Method
Make a frontlines private match, then have 1 team captures the first flag. Once the flag is captured, that team can stay ideal on the flag.
The second team then captures the second flag and stays there. Once that is captured, it goes back to the first flag where the first team is still sitting. This can go back and forth and the game will never end because one team must capture all flags for a win. Also a great method to boost XP

In this mode you will fight over territory and can lose/gain ground back and forth. Sometimes you need to capture flags, sometimes destroy objectives, etc. Simply capture 10 flags in this game mode.

Go to “advanced search”
We don't touch the game mode because... when selecting “Frontline” servers are always 0
Put a check mark on the “Arras” and “Destruction” Cards
And we go into the servers and look for the “Front Line” mode we need.
Ps According to my calculations, they gave the trophy exactly in the area where it was captured, I was 8 times, but I didn’t count the others when I ran somewhere else and my team took the center. So on my 8th flag they gave me a trophy, it may not be necessary to be in the capture zone.

You can track the progress of obtaining a trophy through tokens - game modes - below there will be a token with a tower. This is capture the flag in front line mode.

Hurry while the front line is resurrected!!! In the recommended ones, there are enough people, the trophy popped up in just a couple of minutes))

01/29/19 A patch has been released that fixed a bug in the “Frontline” mode.
Now you don’t need to play operations and wait for the 3rd day. All 10 flags were captured in the normal “Front Line” mode, launching it without a filter directly from the menu.
I advise you to re-login to the server until the Hamada card appears, there are a lot of flags on it, I managed to get the trophy in one go, it took me 20 minutes.
