For those like me who cannot access Ubisoft club fortunately there is another way to get the pirate ship. It comes in the shape of a skin in the Hasbro Game Channel. (Yes more useless bloatware app shoveled to our faces)
From the main menu of Hasbro Game Channel after it decides to load up you must press up and navigate to the middle pane until you get to the rewards and click that to open. You must slide over to Battleship and select the Ghost Skin.
Please note this will cost 20M's xD not sure what that currency is but yeah.
Then go back to Battleships and then you are able to select the pirates from the game. You must choose the second skin though.
Why does it take pirates so long to learn the alphabet?

The quickest way to do this is to have a second controller and play a local PvP match. You can control the second players ship layout to hit the targets with the most efficency and then have the second player just choosing to skip every turn. You should be able to finish the match pretty quickly, rinse and repeat until you get the trophy to pop.
*Update*
I got far enough in the campaign where I was playing with a pirate fleet. If you just replay these missions you should be able to pop the trophy and won't need to get on to Ubisoft Club or Hasbro Game Club. Good luck!!

For this trophy, you just have to play and finish 5 games while using the pirate fleet (win or lose does not matter). There are two ways of going about this, through "VS" games or in campaign missions that you use the pirate fleet in (there are 3 of them that use it). I would suggest doing the majority of them through the campaign missions so it cuts down on how many games you have to play, but it's up to you as you can easily grind them all out pretty quickly in a "player vs player" match where you have player 2 group together their ships together and take them out fast. Whichever way you decide to go, after you play your 5th game with the pirate fleet, the trophy will pop.

Unlike the other fleets, the Pirate Fleet will NOT unlock as you progress through the game. You would have to log into the Ubisoft Club and redeem it. But this is not necessary. Simply replay the missions in which you play as the Pirate fleet until you get the required five wins.
