I had trouble unlocking this one and thought that it had glitched on me.
Like most people I completed the requirements of 50 enemy planes and 10 enemy ships while going for Medal of Honor
The Medal of Honor achievement in Battlestations: Midway worth 874 pointsMust reach the time and hit limits of the Service and the Marksmanship medals
I unlocked Medal of Honor but not Distinguished Service Cross even though I had shot down around 70 planes and 20 ships. I tried again and still no achievement.
What I did notice during my two failed attempts is while shooting down the planes with my Battleship a number of them were hitting the superstructure of my BB. This was as I had launched all the fighters and then targeted my BB to bring them to my location.
I attempted this a third time but this time I had wave after wave of fighter flying slow and level above my BB so I could ensure that I was shooting them down without any of them crashing. After I had destroyed 50 fighters and 10 ships I completed the mission objective and the achievement unlocked.
My unproven theory is that Medal of Honor may have more lenient rules then Distinguished Service Cross related to how aircraft are destroyed.
