How to unlock the Astronomic Katamari achievement in Beautiful Katamari - Definitive Guide

There is another stage where you can obtain this achievement, which is IMO quite a bit easier and safer from accidental premature mission ending leading to thrown xbox controller into tv screen. No one wants that do they?

So this is the lowdown: use the stage "Chatéau Notre Desir - Uranus." The prime reason being that it's very easy to accidently roll up the black hole and end the stage early before you're ready on Schloss Kosmos where you are additionally burdened with a time limit, albeit a generous one, but for this run you will want all the time you can get to leasurely pick up everything from smallest to largest with no hurry at all to approach large size once in space.

On "Chatéau Notre Desir - Uranus" this method ONLY works if your memory score for the run where you make a 1.5million km katamari is your new high score for memories on that stage as well. The key to getting lots of memories is staying as small as possible avoiding everything you can that is not requested by the king. The size of the item is mostly unrelated to it's memory value. IE: a diamond ring is worth about the same a limo if the king requests "luxury" for example. The reason for this is once he reaches the size where you can roll up large houses he will immediately stop giving requests meaning you can't get any more memories on that run, but until he gets that big, he will give a potentially unlimited number of requests. On my first try just trying that strategy (staying as small as possible) to see if it would work I easily got 2600 memories. If you run the stage and dont manage to beat your memory highscore before the king stops giving requests, just restart, because it won't register unless it's the record highest memory run you've done on that stage because it's linked to the primary mission criteria, I suppose.

Again, what makes "Chatéau Notre Desir - Uranus" easier than Schloss is that you can roll up the black hole without automatically ending the stage and there is no time limit- as the king says: "just keep rolling till you're done and hit x. "

Groudon is correct in that you will need to complete stages multiple times because that spawns more planets out in space (that you created playing the other stages) to add to your size.

Some stages can only turn out very small planets, but Elem3ntal80 lays it out in the easiest manner possible:
"- The larger the katamari is, the more size it will be worth when you roll it up in space, so you want to especially play the levels several times where you create larger katamari. For this reason, the Dangerous and Calorie DLC stages are the best if you don't want to get them all. You can have a max of 10 satellites per level which you can see by going into the Cosmos while flying around in Princedom."

So that means you can make TEN suns and TEN Cetus' which produce massive planets/suns which are worth quite a bit of size. Lastly, try to roll up everything as small as you can in space avoiding picking up planets etc until you're almost completely running out of tiny regular stars to pick up, because if you roll up the queen or something large accidently you'll go up quite a bit in size making those stars too small to appear and unable to be rolled up.

Good luck... but you won't need it if you just follow the advice compiled here! :)

So after getting 1.4993 after a premature hole-roll on Schloss yet again, I decided to see what TA had to say. While both of the solutions are good, this one is better ONLY if you never tried for 100 on CND (and your record is low). I never tried to meet his request on this level, so it was easy to break my old score. Hey, you're free to go after the 60-meter mark anyway.

It was so worth it to be able to roll up the black hole and have it not matter.

Hmm... I won't down vote, but I got over 1,500,000 km twice and checked to see if there was a catch. I'm not seeing it. So I will continue to try the SC method instead. THank you for the option though. I suck up everything in SC and always get just under the req. Go figure lol.

I'm having the same problem as Torchstone. I got over 1,500,000 km and no achievement pop.

Worked perfectly!
Did certain dlc stages 10 times and the rest 3 or 4 times.
Checked my high score on Chatéau Notre Desir, and rolled carefully until I beat it.
Rolled like crazy after that (note: King kept giving requests until I hit 60 meters, so I had quite a bit of leeway).
Rolled up everything until I hit space, then tried to clean up the "stars" before going for the satellites, planets, etc.
After I passed 1.5 million km, I pressed "x" to save.
The achievement popped after the King was done congratulating me, saving the score, etc. It popped while the game was returning to the "space islands (?)" that act as the main control menu.

First of all, you need some of the DLC levels to be able to get this achievement. In addition, you need to complete most of the levels several times for more satellites around the planets/constellations.

This achievement can only be gotten in the Schloss Kosmos stage on Normal. The quicker you can get into space, the better. Roll up everything in space except for the Black Hole. If you have a large number of satellites, this achievement will be pretty easy. If you've gotten just about everything in space and you're not quite at the 1.5 million, go and roll up the black hole instead of plugging it up (roll along the outside of the swirl).

Hah, you just beat me to it, was about to write solution for this one. Here are a few extra tidbits of info:

- The larger the katamari is, the more size it will be worth when you roll it up in space, so you want to especially play the levels several times where you create larger katamari. For this reason, the Dangerous and Calorie DLC stages are the best if you don't want to get them all. You can have a max of 10 satellites per level which you can see by going into the Cosmos while flying around in Princedom.

-The black hole is 75,000km in size so you will want to be at least 1,425,000km before you roll it up because once you do, the level will end.

I can't explain how much you saying to re-do levels for extra planets/satellites just freaking blew my mind, for why every time I try to get this achievement I fall short with nothing else to get.

Thank you so much.

The DLC isn't free, but none of it is expensive (I think the levels are now at 80 points each, but I'm not sure). I don't know how much DLC you'll have to get, but if I had to guess, I'd say at least half of the levels.

All the previous sizes will come while doing the normal requests during the game. For this final achievement, you must download a few DLC stages and play them a few times (the Calorie stage and the Dangerous stage are very good), then replay Schloss Cosmos ON NORMAL to get this. This does not unlock playing Eternal mode.
