How to unlock the Warm at Heart achievement in Before We Leave - Definitive Guide

There are currently 4 scenarios in this game. You can not get this achievement in the 'Apocalypse Soon" scenario as stated in the achievement description. I got this playing "Hut-Owners Association". I would not recommend you try this in "Getting Busy" as you want to control and limit population numbers as much as possible, but then there is the advantage that you are confined to one planet and thus need to do less searching for islands that can grow cotton and have the sheep resource. Up to you if you want to try while completing that one, but my guide is more suited for the "Hut-Owners" or "Seed Hunter" scenario.

ETA: Even though the achievement description implies this can be done in the Seed Hunter scenario, it may not be possible. Sheep must spawn for this achievement. The likelihood that sheep spawn in that scenario may be very low or not at all. I would suggest not starting a playthrough on that scenario if you are only going for this achievement. It might be a waste of time. I replayed that scenario, and the Farming research remained blocked out and I never discovered any sheep or cows.

Key research needed: Clothing, Farming, and Spaceflight.

Clothing unlocks cotton and the manufacturing buildings needed, the weaver and tailor. You need to unlock Farming and then find a planet with the sheep resource in order to produce wool. You need wool in order to upgrade the weaver to produce good fabric which is then needed to upgrade the tailor to produce good clothing. A tip for finding an island that has sheep without having to colonize every island on a planet: look for sheep running around free on the island. You can find cows this way as well.

I would suggest when you colonize a new planet, do not immediately build a space port. I waited till I found the island with the sheep, and then built the space port to cut down on extra shipping. Though I suppose it doesn't matter much as you are going to have to stockpile good clothing by not allowing peeps to wear any clothing until we have provided enough for every peep in your game.

When peeps wear clothing, it degrades over time. It goes from good clothing indicated by the set of clothes with the up arrow to just clothing (minus the arrow) to rags pictured as a single shirt. So you can't just provide some peeps with good clothing and then the remaining peeps on the next boat trip for example. The first peeps will now be on a different rotation as their clothing will already be deteriorating while these others have new good clothing.

In order to get every peep in your game clothed with good clothing at the same time, you need to know how to prevent them from using this resource until you are ready. To do this, you press Right Bumper while over a populated island. Now go over to the 4th box on the top row with the clothing icon. Click that, then go to the 2nd row, 2nd box. Here you can reserve clothing for "transport and construction". Go down to the second bar and move the slider to the right to the number of peeps on this island (or more if you have a warehouse storing excess for transport elsewhere.) This will stop them from going to the tailor, warehouse, or port and taking clothing.

You must do this for every island on every planet that has peeps.

I consolidated peeps on as few islands/planets as possible by using trade ships and trade space ships to move peeps around. You don't need to, but this just means your trade/warehouse network will be larger.

Once you have enough good clothing stored at the port, space port, and/or warehouse, on each island populated with peeps, PAUSE THE GAME. Leave the game paused while you go to every island and now move the slider back to zero for the amount of good clothing reserved for transport and construction. Unpause the game and give it about a minute or less on the fastest setting for all the peeps to aquire clothing from wherever you have it stored. The achievement should pop when this happens.

Out of curiosity, did you make sure to have the reserve for transport set high enough for each populated island to prevent them from wearing clothing? You have to go to every populated island and adjust this setting, not just on your main production island.

This feature seems to be a key component of mastering this game since it is very trade oriented. It allows for a lot of fine tuning tailored to each island. Too bad I didn't know about it sooner while playing and going for other achievements as getting needed goods to other islands/planets was a pain because peeps kept using stuff rather than shipping it.

I agree it was tedious as I think I had to colonize 2 maybe 3 other planets just to find sheep. But I didn't have a problem getting peeps on other planets/islands clothed when ready. But the key to that is making sure not one single peep is wearing anything but rags when you release good clothing to them. That one dummy wearing just standard level clothing ruins the achievement because he will not go and get good clothing until what he is currently wearing turns to rags.

I had a lot of trouble with this achievement. I could not get it to pop at all if I sent Good Clothing out along the trade network. I had to use trade ships and trade spaceships to recall literally all of my population to my home island after amassing well over my total population in Good Clothing. If you do this, be sure to delete any schools so that you don't accidentally and needlessly inflate your population. Once I got farming and space flight unlocked, I focused on hoarding as much good clothing as I could and then recalled all my population.

I also had issues with folks grabbing some clothing when they shouldn't have because the total storage for an island would change. Once all my population had settled back on my first island, I hit RB and then selected the Good Clothing icon to pull up its overlay. I waited until every single house on my island was red, indicating no one in that household had any form of clothing left. Once every house was red, I paused the game and dropped the "hold for transport" filter back down to zero. Within about 45 seconds of real time of the game playing at 4x speed, the achievement popped.

Very tedious achievement. I did it in Hut Association after failing a few times in Seed Hunter.

Perhaps it is a coincidence: in the seed hunter scenario there was no island with animals. I could not research farming and therefore could not make good clothes.

Even though the achievement description implies that you should be able to get it in Seed Hunters, the likelihood that sheep spawn might be on the low to zero possibility. After reading your comment I played that scenario, expanded out to all 5 planets, and discovered every island, yet like you, I found no sheep or cows. I will edit the solution to note that it may not be possible in that one.

High praise for the quick response. I have now managed it in the Hut-Owners scenario.

It took a little while. I had already suspected that colony ships, ships or spaceships would affect success. But they have no influence.

In the end it was just a few peeps who were too lazy. You can see those peeps in the overview. You can filter by clothing and sort in ascending order.

So this unlocked for me on just normal play. I prioritized it with super easy settings, executed, then didn't get it. About 10 minutes later, pop.

I had some trouble when I first started moving Good Clothing to islands. A few shirts went missing and it was annoying. I think the best thing to do is before shipping anything, build a warehouse exclusively for Good Clothes on each island, then upgrade it, and then reserve the clothing from the top menu. When I first reserved the clothing it capped it at 20 or 30, but after building the warehouse the cap was much higher.

Also, I accidentally built an extra colony spaceship that I didn't want to launch. As far as I can tell, they did not require Good Clothes, so if you want to reduce your population by 50 this is one way to do it. (I didn't test with trading ships or trading spaceships, so IDK if those work as well.)
