Nothing too complicated - just press 
to enter the lower-left menu and click the bulldozer icon above to access the Demolition tool. From there, click to remove every flashing square with trees in it to have that forest demolished.
This can be unlocked in one game, assuming that there are at least 100 forest tiles on your island; however, there might not be much remaining forest left for early-game Woodcutters to produce Wood with.
