How to unlock the Hut-Owners Association achievement in Before We Leave - Definitive Guide
Not difficult, but time consuming as it requires a complete play through of the main game, this time with two stipulations regarding hut placement.
RULES:
1. Huts, houses, and apartments can not be built next to each other.
2. Peeps will only look for work at buildings on tiles directly next to where they live.
The end game is to build the Whale Charmer by adhering to the two rules above. So this focuses on the efficiency of building placement since you loose the bonus generated by clustering homes together as well as peeps seeking out open job positions.
Some tips. Food plots do not require a worker to produce, but they do generate food faster if you build a hut next to them. Wind/solar power generators and schools do not require an adjacent hut to operate. Upgrade housing for more workers, but if you can't, then build more than one hut next to buildings that have more than two workers. It's also beneficial to upgrade huts sometimes even if the industry building they work at only requires two workers. This way the extra peeps can gather the food and water needed for the home.
Planet 1 and Planet 2 were the only ones I fully colonized for resource production and to gather needed colors of tech research. As soon as I could build the Research Institute, by colonizing the Crystal Island, I did so to not waste time gathering research anymore. Thus I focused on colonizing planets to find the one with Astrobaleenium to begin building the Whale Charmer.
Took me 40 in-game hours to complete. Could be more or less depending on how efficient you are at resource gathering and distribution, especially when you start building the Whale Charmer and the two Aegis Shields to protect your two islands on your final planet.
Achievement pops after the animation of the final Whale approaches the planet and the credits start to roll.

Finishing this scenario does not unlock the achvt for finishing the game even though you do the exact same ending sequence. Don't plan too many (if any) achievements for this run, since you're going to have do another normal playthrough anyway.
