How to unlock the Sprint Powerhouse achievement in Beijing 2008 - Definitive Guide

Here is the best technique I can suggest to attain this achievement as easily as possible.

SET UP
Use a male athlete from any country in training mode.

FAMILIARISE
Do not try to win to start with. Practice launching from the start grid exactly on the bang. Develop your own method of counting in your head so you can launch consistently every time. An almost perfect start is mandatory, and you can practice this until it becomes a skill you can routinely pull off. No amount of waggling will earn you this achievement with a rubbish start.

SPEED MAINTENANCE
The best method of maintaining speed for me was waggling the right stick with the palm of my right hand, with the waggling power coming from the elbow.

PHYSICAL SETUP
I recommend the following. Wear a glove on your waggling hand because you are likely to damage the skin on the palm of your waggle hand attempting this. I'm not joking. You are using a controller to simulate a 9.8s 100m sprint. You are going to have to waggle crap out of the stick.
I suggest you hold the controller with the left hand, and use the left trigger for the launch at the start: and use the LT for lunging at the finish. I found holding the controller against the lateral (outside) aspect of my right leg worked best. If you're in a seat (like me) with your leg vertical, the XYAB buttons are towards the floor and the D-Pad is towards the ceiling. Waggle with the palm of the right hand with the waggle power coming from the elbow, thus you are essentially waggling your arm up and down, and this waggles the stick left and right.

SUMMARY
1. Learn the timing of the start so your starts are close to perfect consistently.
2. Waggle, a lot.
3. Lunge by holding LT (or RT) with 5 to 8m remaining.

Please remember to wear the glove. I can imagine some people attempting this over 50x in a row. That would mean over 8 minutes total of MAXIMAL WAGGLING. Anyway, I'll let you know how mine heals.

1st tip, ALWAYS USE THE MEN, NOT THE WOMEN.
I tried so many times using the women on the game as i prefer to play with them if i can. BIG MISTAKE.

2nd Tip, Practice getting a perfect start. If you try for this in practice mode it does not matter about false starts because you wont be disqualified. But its important as your speed bar will be maxed from the start. and you wont have a lag at the start. you will just start with all the other runners.

3rd Tip, Weather you use the buttons or the analouge stick it does not matter you need to maintain the speed at top level for the entire race.

4th tip, Dip at the end using LT or RT just to shave off those last fes tenths of a second.

Try and get a perfect start as this will max your speed bar straight away (if you try for the achievement in practice mode it won't matter if you false start). It's then just a matter of maintaining your speed for the whole 10 seconds. Press LT to dip as you get to the line to shave off a few more tenths. You can also use slo-mo in olympic mode to help you as it's a lot easier to build your speed back up.

Here's a video of someone getting the achievement which may help: -
