This achievement can also be gotten on 1 console with 2 controllers.
Create a System link match for max. 2 players. Make sure that the 2nd controller is signed into a profile as well, and use the start button to add the second controller to the game on the screen where you select a team. Then pick Table tennis as the game to play and start the match. When player 1 has to serve, just serve as you normally would. When player 2 has to serve, just tap A on the second controller and the serve will go into the net (make sure not to hold the A button too long). After 11 points you will win the game and the achievement.

But if you start a table tennis match in system link, you never play against each other.

He should have mentioned you need to do it on vs, not standard and then you play each other
