How to unlock the Classic Mode achievement in Bejeweled 2 - Definitive Guide
also, try to make a hyper cube as soon as possible. if you hold on to it you are guaranteed a match. in the 11-15 levels i had 2 hypers saved up. the worst thing is getting a no more moves on 14 or 15 or whatever. i also found that making vertical matches as much as possible frees the board up more and gives you better combos.
The trick for not running out of moves is to try making matches from the top of the board, following some kind of way that the game gives you. Try to save a few power gems and hyper cubes for later levels and also save a few matches from the bottom of the board. (You need a lot of practice for this one and to unlock it you NEED TO FINISH level 17.)

I can confirm this. It may seem counterintuitive, but I failed to get to level 17 about a dozen times when playing from the bottom. When playing from the top, I got it in one try.

With the USB support now added to the 360, this achievement has become much easier.
You'll need two things: 1) A USB stick (at least 1GB, and the smaller the better) and 2) software which can "image" the USB stick (create a backup copy of it). The image software I used was the "USB Image Tool" which is available for free at: http://www.alexpage.de/usb-image-tool/
Create your Bejeweled save on the USB stick. Start up classic mode, and play a level. If you beat the level, then quit back to the main menu, which saves your game. Quit the game, and then put the USB stick into a computer, and run the USB image tool to create an image of the stick (which contains your Bejeweled save).
Now plug the stick back in and try another level. If you beat a level, then image the stick again. If you fail, then restore an older save from your PC to the USB stick and you can pick up from where you left off.
The idea is that a fail will only set you back (at most) one level so you'll eventually get it quite easily.

The easiest way to beat the classic mode achievement in my opinion is to play through the game to any level you like (i start this method on lvl 15)
When you feel that you haven't enough moves too win the level, wait some seconds. After a few seconds you got a free tip that you can use for the next move.
its a little bit time consuming but it works 100%. I used ONLY the auto tip function from beginning of lvl 15 to lvl 18 to get the achievement. This method needed around 120 minutes.
hope that helps
EDIT: Some Grammar changes.

This might be the easiest way to complete any mode you're having difficulty with. It is in the other guides
1) Load up classic mode.
2) Hit start, and exit to the menu. It will save the game
3) Now load up Endless Mode
4) Also hit start and return to the menu. Now you have two saved games, one is Endless, and one is Classic (or the mode you're trying to complete
5) Now load up your classic mode, it should give you a prompt about loading a saved game. Play until you pass a level, then go back to the menu, making a new save state. This part is important, or it won't work. Load Endless back up, and save it. Then go back to Classic mode, and play away.
6) If you run out of moves with Classic mode, don't quit the game through the start menu, quit via the dashboard method.
7) Boot up Bejewelled 2, and your save for Classic Mode should load up where you saved it.
This method can be repeated for Hyper Mode or Action Mode. You don't need a USB and don't need to clear your cache.
I did this on my Xbox One X, via backwards compatibility with cloud saves.

This requires a lot of practice. There is no time limit but you can get a game over if you have no more moves. Save your hyper gems and power gems for later levels. Once you reach level 18 you get this achievement.
