How to unlock the Hyper Mode achievement in Bejeweled 2 - Definitive Guide
As an addition of sorts to GibGirl's solution above . . .
There is a trick that can make Action/Hyper (and other modes) a bit more bearable. Original credit goes to AdHominem at x360a. Original link: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36... and to the commenters below who helped to verify/tweak the process.
*You do NOT have to clear your system cache, and do not have to play offline. This can be done online and with the latest update of Bejeweled 2.*
1) Select the mode that you would like to beat.
2) Play to a point at which you feel is about as far as you can comfortably get on a regular basis.
3) Press Start and exit to the main menu. This will create a quicksave of sorts. Generally, this save can only be used once. However, after following the below steps you should be able to reuse it indefinitely.
4) Once at the main menu begin Endless Mode.
5) When Endless Mode begins press Start and exit to the main menu.
6) Go back to the mode you were trying to beat - it will load up at the level that you were on when you exited out. Attempt to beat the level.
7) If you fail, load up your Endless Mode save. This will "refresh" your save for the mode that you failed. Exit Endless Mode by saving.
8) Load up the mode that you previously failed and try again. Repeat as many times as needed.
So, this trick won't help you in the actual gameplay, but will give you an option rather than restarting from level 1 each time you fail. Especially helpful if you've failed on the last stage required for the achievement multiple times - how frustrating!
You can also use this technique to inch forward on the stages. I had to do this on Stage 7 and 8 of Action Mode. Every time I made a bit of progress from a cascade I would save and exit - and mark the progress bar with some tape on my television. If I made it past the tape mark I would create a new save, and so on, until I finished the stage.

It took me 15 years but I FINALLY beat this achievement thanks to your strategy.
Just to let others know, you can reload saves but you can also create new saves and continue the above strategy.
Say for example I saved at the start of level 4, if I managed to get the bar further along to the right I would save the game and do the endless restart trick and now when I reload my save, it starts at the new save point.
This was crucial for me past level 5, any time I moved the bar further to the right then the last save... I hit save and continued the process until I had a mega cascade that pushed me to level 8 and achievement unlocked.

Hyper Mode is a faster version of Action Mode with a slower timer. Get to level 9 to achieve.
