How to unlock the Game Completed in Legend achievement in Beowulf - Definitive Guide
Completing the game in Legend will net you the "Complete Game in Thane" achievement also. Legend difficulty is somewhat hard, but there is one area that is incredibly difficult and will most likely have you pulling your hair out, the part I'm referring to is the part where you have to "Defend the Relic".
I warn anyone attempting this that this will require a lot of skill and even more luck. All I can say is keep trying and stay calm and collected.
First when going up the ramp, have your Thanes push the rock in front of the tunnel. Next head to the top of the ramp and stay near the Relic. The first wave of enemies will be visible starting to come up the ramp. Charge up your Carnal so that you only need hold the R trigger for a second to initiate it. As soon as the enemies near the top trigger Carnal and kill the first wave as fast as possible, DONT LEAVE THE TOP.
Note: While in carnal mode you can damage the relic, so refrain from fighting right next to it.
Now for the second wave do the same thing, but if will be more difficult due to the enemies with shields, they can be very difficult to kill if not in Carnal. (I always had problems with this wave.)
Third Wave and Trolls: As soon as you see the trolls leave the water have your Thanes start hacking the rock on the left (DONT USE THE THANE SONG YET). When the Troll just starts to get near the gate use the Thane Song on your Thanes and have them hack the rock, if timed PERFECTLEY the rock will take out both of the trolls, if it doesn't you are in for an almost impossible battle.
2nd option for Wave 3: Leave the top (very risky) and clash with the Trolls at the beach in Carnal mode. If you grab them and do the button prompts you can kill them in 2 grabs while in Carnal.
Wave 4: Have your Thanes hack the the other rock (go ahead and do the song right off) the rock will kill about half the enemies then just Carnal and kill the rest.
2nd option for Wave 2 and 4: Instead of using the second rock for the last wave, use the rock on Wave 2 which will take out those pesky shielded enemies. Whichever suits you best. Thanks to Elod II for the tip.
Good Luck!!

I agree with the patience as i had to take a break after an hour of annoyance, and was almost ready to break the disc. Although liek he says carnal makes it easier to kill the enemies be advised that you will damage the relic yourself if you hit it so Heroic boost may be preferable as you will need 2 run throughs for the 1000g anyway so you may as well save carnal for the second.

Wow, nice guide, helped a lot, thanks! One thing I could add. I've found the second wave to the hardest, so I used the other rock on them, that is killed the warriors with shields. The fourth wave was relatively easily manageable without rock to me.

Crimsons drifters solution is brilliant but i found to have a couple of missing faults to it.
This solution might not work for everyone as skill and luck are important for the defending the relic section.
Before starting close off the passage to your right and head up to the relic. if you do not have a spear already pick one up from the right. at the top. now just camp on the small step to the relic and kill anything that comes close, the spear is good as it hits multiple enemys with one swing.
At the end of the first wave of enemys say when you have 1 enemy left get your thanes to start hacking the boulder to the right of the relic (assuming your locking at the sea). Hit the y button twice to have 6 thanes hack the boulder keep a eye on it to make sure they do not hack it too quick. when the first enemy of the next wave almost gets to the gate finish off the hack and the boulder should kill a large portion of this wave. kill the rest at your little camping spot.
Same again at the end of the second wave start to hack the rock so it is ready to fall and as the first troll gets through the gate finish the hack and it should kill both, if not you have failed.
Last wave is simple, just stay at the camp spot and if your spear breaks go get a new one, i replaced mine after each fight.
Hope these tips helps as it is the hardest part also, listen to music when playing this section, it helps to stay calm and not get frustrated.

Definitely use Crimson Drifter's advice for the Relic... I had massive trouble with this even on my regular playthrough, so by the time I went to do this on Legend, it was actually a breeze since I had so much practice.
What gave me fits was the last battle, with the dragon. I think my problem was that on my Legend playthrough I did not max out heroic or carnal. I was just playing, having fun, doing what seemed to fit... Which, as it turned out was more heroic than carnal.
On my previous two playthroughs I only fought the dragon once, with max carnal, since I did not really need to do it again on heroic. I wish I had, since I have no idea how that battle would be (with max heroic).
So here I am, facing the dragon, and getting seriously frustrated... After over an hour I quit for the night, thinking I might never beat this thing. The next day I started again, this time with a new strategy: Take my time.
This is assuming if you are not max carnal, which in that case you can just run around popping spores and never die. And like I said, I'm sure there was some advantage to being max heroic too, but I never got that chance. So perhaps the real advice is to be sure to go in with max carnal or heroic, but if for some reason you don't, here's what I learned:
Maybe I was doing something wrong, but the only thing I found I could do was a heroic whack (Y) or three, and hopefully a dodge or two. If you get stomped on, your health goes down to practically zero, so just get away and let your heath regenerate. This becomes even more important as you whittle the dragon's health down, as it would take 20 or 30 minutes of fighting, and you don't want to loose the progress.
I found a few spots where I could hide behind debris and the dragon could not get me. It would make a couple charges, and stop within a short distance, where I could attack and retreat. Just do this over and over, preserving your health at all costs, and you will eventually get to another series of QTEs. I managed to pass it the first time, as should you, since by now we all should be very very good at them.
Watch the cut scene and then put this game away... FOREVER!

PROTECT THE RELIC.
During Episode 11 - Retaliation there's a part where you have to protect the Relic from incoming waves of enemies. This can be very tough on the hardest difficulty if you don't know how to do it. Using Carnal Fury works like a charm, if it wasn't for that you will destroy the Relic itself with a couple hits. This is what you do if you want to complete it fast and without failing too many times. It's really not that hard at all.
As soon as you spot the relic (mini-cutscene) send 6 men to close off the entrance to the right (they'll have to move the round rock) and go close to them and sing for them to speed up the process. Once it's shut, run up to the Relic and stand on the ramp leading to it (There's a weapon stand right next to it, make good use of it, you'll need it). Call your men near you by pressing LB + A (multiple times to call all of them) otherwise they'll wander off towards the enemies, which is good, but since the enemies attack from two different areas, you'll be left alone with half of them.
As soon as you spot the first wave, stand on the ramp leading to the Relic and await the enemies with your men. Working together with your men, kill all of the enemies, and as soon as they are down, send 6 men to the boulder to the right, and sing for them to release the boulder. By the time you're done and the boulder is on it's way, the second wave will have made it half way to you, crushing almost every one of them. Some enemies may not die, so await them at the ramp (NEVER leave the ramp!) And kill them. As soon as they are done, wait for the game to tell you that the next wave is on it's way, this time two trolls/ogres. As soon as you see them, send your men to the last boulder to the fight, and sing for them. Your goal is to crush both of the trolls/ogres with the boulder. Note that they are pretty slow, so timing is very important.
The content above applies to everyone, below you'll find two different tips depending on if the boulder killed the trolls/ogres, or not.
If one or both don't die, run down to them, activate your Carnal Fury and go crazy on them. While being there you may spot the next wave, being the last one (thank God!) When you do, await them and try to kill a couple of them too with the Carnal Fury. Since they'll be gathered, you can take out multiple enemies with a couple of swings. Please watch your back and don't forget to look if enemies are running up to the Relic. If they are, drop whatever you're doing, and go after them. If your weapon got destroyed in the previous fight, you'll find the weapon stand next to the ramp, but if the enemies are still ahead of you, there won't be any time to pick a weapon up, so run up to them (if they made it to the Relic) and do this combo: X + X + Y. You'll hit them twice, and then Beowulf will use his shield to melee the enemies (if you had a sheild equipped, of course).
If you did kill them both, call your men back next to you while standing on the ramp and await the final wave. While the final wave approaches, your men will run away from you and run towards the enemies. This is good, leaving you space and preventing you from killing your own men from what you are about to do next. Now you'll have enemies approaching from the left (having your back against the Relic). Now stand where the ramp begins, and activate Carnal Fury, and await the enemies and kill them as if they were crabs. If any enemy gets passed you and approaches the Relic, de-activate your Fury quickly and go after them. If your weapon breaks during any of this, you'll find the weapon stand right next to the ramp. Once they're down, you've completed one of the toughest parts of the game (If not the toughest).

These are stackable so its better to play on Legend first, this game does require two playthroughs so you might want to save your Thane difficulty playthrough to nab any of the achievements you missed since you really don't have to play the entire game to get fully upgraded or to reach the full Carnal/Heroic index but you won't be fully upgraded until just before the battle with Hela. So its better to beat her just once then to have to beat her and the Dragon again if you don't have to, you can not upgrade anytime after that so you can at least skip two of the tougher boss battles by playing through on Legend first.
