Can be a bit of a pain your first try or two, but when you get it down its pretty easy.
At the beginning of the battle you will need to have your Thanes cut out the boulders on each side of the room to knock down the ice wall. (Use your Thanes song on them to speed things up).
After you hack away both boulders, make your way back up to the middle of the room and have your Thanes turn the wheel (again use Thanes song to speed things up) Be careful and keep an eye on your Thanes as enemies will be attacking, especially keep an eye out for Trolls and the Witches and take them out as soon as possible. Turning this wheel will make hand holds emerge out of the pillar that Hela is sitting on at the bottom of the level.
Make your way to her throne and start making your way up the pillar towards her (make sure and use your long jump when needed) after you get up to her complete the button prompt chain to defeat her.

I personally found that you can ignore the boulders all together.
Run straight down to the bottom and take out the nearest ice troll using Carnal grab on it.Once it is dead,stay in Carnal and destroy the ice pillars that the boulder WOULD have destroyed.Come out of Carnal and run to the other ice troll guarding the other ice pillars.
Rinse and repeat for this guy.
Now rush to the wheel in the centre that your Thanes have to turn,they will follow you.At this point there may or may not be a third troll (for me there wasn't),if there is kill it first.
Have 6 of your Thanes turn the wheel while you defend them by waiting at the ledge for ice guys to come up.You may have to rush down and take tare of the witches but for me some of the thanes stayed on the wheel and completed their task.
Once they have done their task give them a boost and then climb the pillar.I appreciate that i might have gotten lucky with this but i did it first time on Legendary.

I did get 3 trolls to brawl down but I didnt encounter any witches maybe 'cause of the extra troll but who knows?

Heres my video solution to defeating Hela.
It's taken from my second playthrough on Legend difficulty where I am focusing on the Heroic skill pathway, it also has a voice over for extra help.

Hela is the second last boss and the way to defeat her is to first make the big boulders on each side of the room roll down to shatter the ice by using your Thanes, then you need to make you Thanes rotate the wheel thats in the center to make the handhold appear on her throne so you can climb up and take her out, remember that when your climbing up her throne to go up and then go left all the way up and around until you reach the top, then follow the command promptsto kill her.
