How to unlock the MARATHRONE! achievement in Big Crown: Showdown - Definitive Guide

This method requires a second controller! If you do not have a second controller(or boosting partner(s)), that will complicate things in terms of the consistent distance you will get per round as you may need to play online with randoms.

I’d recommend you save this achievement for last, as you will work your way through a chunk of the distance through natural play.

So to begin, from the main menu, sign in a guest account and go to:

Local > Custom Game > Create

In the playlist, select “Rooftop Run” (2nd row, 1st option, you also need to only select it once).

In match settings:

-Lives set to 7
-Victory Points set to 50
-Map Speed set to high

The rest of the settings can remain default.

Now, run through the entire map. Your second controller will be at 2 hearts (possibly 1 heart, but doesn't happen often) by the time you reach the final door. What I’d recommend is that you bring yourself down to 2 hearts as well by jumping off the map. Now, rinse and repeat this process for 25 rounds to finish the game.

General Tips

-Run circles in the starting area during the beginning countdown and zig zag around the map when you can. You don’t only have to go straight! Every little bit of distance counts!

-When you go down stairs, you run faster! So as you go up / down stairs, run right back down / up them to get a little extra distance and then make your way back as the screen is probably losing you. There are two large staircases near the end of the map that are perfect for this!

This method throughout 25 rounds can net you roughly 17% for the achievement(almost 4.5 miles), you can check your progress on this achievement through the achievement app.

ClockKing1986 has mentioned an alternative method in the comments. For those who are interested in taking their time by using a slower pace, give their comment(s) a read.

Good luck and happy achievement hunting!

I suppose that the method you use is all up to personal preference laugh

But I agree, this game is quite the hassle to reach 100%facepalm

Here is a little time-guide:
For the map "Rooftop Run" (slow-speed), you will need around 3 minutes per level. So if a Rooftop-Run (slow map, running around a bit, using stairs twice, ...) gives you 1%, you can put together how much time you will need.
I think you can count with 1% = 3 minutes.

Slow speed, not fast.

Anyone having the achievement progress stuck? I just came back to get this achievement done but my progress won't move past 71% I have gotten a new Xbox and was thinking that that was the problem, but I have gotten other achievements from other games that I had progress on without a problem. I'm trying to download the game again to see if that works. Edit: It worked, just got the achievement.

Wouldn't it be better to slow down the map speed to the lowest setting so you can run in circles and generally take advantage of open spaces for longer?

@ClockKing1986, I had actually considered this. Maybe it was just my personal preference, but I found that running through a full map would be more effective than running circles in larger areas of a map.

Also, having the map speed set to high only kills the second controller 5-6 times. While I had not tested this map on a lower speed, I'm not sure that the second controller could survive past 10 lives through the full map.

I'm open to suggestions and improvements on this solution of course! If you find that there is a more effective way to gain distance, I'd love to hear it!smile

I've been doing 8 rounds on the rooftop level with the slowest map speed, running in circles whenever I'm waiting for the map to scroll, and running in circles at the exit door until I have about 7 seconds left on the timer, and I'm managing about 8%. I'm not sure how much real time that takes so I can't say if it's faster or slower. What I can say though is that this game sucks so much. laugh

I'm making slow, but unattended progress with a rubber band on Controller 1, pulling diagonally down-left on the LS.

Settings:
Map: Rooftop Run (first map of line 2)
Lives: 10
Victory Points: 50
Speed: High
Combat Strength: Low (to make it easier to knock Controller 2 into the hole at the start of a game)

The players get to the end of the map with these settings and Controller 1 gets to run the length of the final platform about 3 times.

The controller falls asleep periodically, even though LS is being held. I tried a USB hub to connect 2 controllers to the front port, but the controllers disconnected on death.

Good solution, but I preferred the slower map personally. I'd get around an estimated 1-1.25% for every round, with each round taking about 3 minutes.

Any chievo hunter worth his salt probably has 4+ controllers laying around wink.

This is like going for Seriously 2.0 in Gears 2, a terribly mind-numbing grind.

Quick tip - if you use charged punches while running, it shoots you forward a little. You can cover more distance using it generously. Was getting 2% per run using the 10 life/slow map method and just zipping as much as possible.

I just got this achievement, so what I did was since I didn’t have my “Play with 4 players online” I joined a bunch and played and for some odd reason after a game (I was like 60% on the achievement) the achievement just randomly popped? This game is very odd.

Thanks for the comment about idling progress, @Mathguy42. Just did it the same way and only had to check in on the game once every hour or so. My controllers didn't shut off at all during the process, just had to restart when someone hit the Victory Point Threshold. Made it a lot more pleasant!

I would do everything breaking bear has said except put lives to 10 and have map speed slow.

The second controller guy will have 2 lives at the end and I would kill myself at the end until I had two lives left. Thus you will have 25 rounds.

Putting the map on slow you will have more time to run around. The best spots are the two long stairs, get there quick and jump to the top and the go down and repeat until the map moves you too far.

I was getting at least 1 percent every run doing it this way. You should get at least 25% on 25 rounds maybe 1 or 2 percent more.

I noticed that if you go up stairs you go regular speed, but fast when you go down stairs. Use this to your advantage in this level it is great. +1

Building on the other solutions:

Stage: construction (dead center)
Lives 10
Victory 50
Speed Slow

This stage is wide with few jumps and obstacles. You'll spend most of your time charge punching back and forth. Make sure to punch the other player down the course once or twice at the beginning; this will ensure that they're alive long enough to give you time to use on the raft in the canal just before the end and the 30 second countdown at the finish. Beware of auto targeting, try to stay away from P2 while spamming punches. I'd get one death usually so a game would last 6 rounds, and get around 10% progress a game.

This is a cumulative running achievement. As you go through the levels it will increase. Just keep playing the game until you get it.

Your progression is tracked in the achievement list on the Xbox One console.
