When you press the button to "ready up" after selecting a game, the portal in the middle opens. The TV is right next to the portal and is really easy to knock in.

Ready Up.
Punched the TV once in the direction of the open portal.
Achievement unlocked instantly.

This was in a custom game, one other controller as guest.

Took a few tries for it to unlock. Seems like if the pull from the portal sucks it in then it doesn't count. That is to say as the solution states "knock in" meaning for it to count you have to hit it into the portal. I did hit the TV every time but for whatever reason it didn't unlock until the 3rd try. Thumbs up for the solution. Anyone having trouble just keep at it and it should eventually unlock. It can be annoying because the TV doesn't always spawn.

At the game lobby, after readying up and while waiting for other players, you will see a TV in front of the sofa off to the side of a portal. You have to push the TV into the portal.
