How to unlock the Trap Master achievement in BioShock 2 - Definitive Guide

Buy as many trap rivets as you can from a vending machine after you get the rivet gun and just kill every enemy you see with them for a while. You can get this fairly quickly from defending little sisters anyway so it shouldn't take too long. I got it at the start of the Pauper's Drop stage without actively trying.

Every time I had to defend a little sister i just set the whole area up with trap rivets, and got this achievement at Pauper's Drop without even knowing this achievement existed.

As he said above this one is an easy one to get all you have to do is use the following
1. Trap rivets, you get these early in the game but it takes about 3 to take them down (kill)
2. Speargun Traps - kill them normaly in one hit just aim at a wall and shot one in the wall works best on mele splicers and ironhead splicers as they chase you about.
3, my fav Cyclone trap plasmed i used level 2 to get it. when fighting instead of shooting your target place a cyclone trap at there feet and watch them bounce but bewarned unless you upgrade the trade it takes 2/3 cyclone traps to kill one thing but its the more fun way of doing it

well theres my ideas ^^

Any idea if combining cyclone traps with other plasmids will count? I want to be sure before I go through using cyclone traps charged with electricity.

For the rivet traps, you need to set them at head-height. I ended up with this achievement by my third or so ADAM gathering. I would set as many rivet traps as I could (at head-height - which is basically when your cross hairs are level more or less) in the approach lanes for the splicers. Set the Little Sister to gather then let the splicers get taken out by them. I'd say a good 50-60% of the splicers were killed by the traps. It made the defending a LOT easier.

Once the gathering is over, I'd run back around and collect the traps that hadn't gone off to use for the next gather.

There is a way to do this if u find it hard to place rivets in the right place. Right at the endo f the game BEFORE you blow up the pipes and after u survive the onslaught of enemies, a infinite number of Brute Splicers will continously spawn. This is the point to place trap rivets and trap spears on the floor. Cyclone traps work too. Once u kill one, take his money and use the nearby vending machine to buy more traps and repeat the process. Remember to set the difficulty to easy to make it quicker.

In addition to the other tips here, it's nice to know that Proximity mines count as traps, since they tend to be a one hit kill. You can even shoot them directly at enemies to kill them and have it still count for the 30 (confirmed because my achievement popped after doing this).

Just injure splicers down to low health then shoot a trap rivet or proximity mine or speargun trap AT THEM and it will kill them and count for the achievement. Very simple.

Kill with crossbow traps, trap rivets, cyclone traps, and/or proximity mines.
It is easier early on when you get trap rivets, they can be easily found and/or purchased if you are low.

A great way to get this is to place traps around a little sister while they are gathering adam for you. Enemies will keep trying to get to her and run into your traps! Try to place the spear traps away from you because if you walk into them, its just a wasted trap. I got this during my third gathering so it won't take very long using this method!

I can confirm that this does NOT need to be in one playthrough, as I am on my second 'mop-up' playthrough and got this achievement on the third chapter, 'Ryan Amusements'. I can also confirm that directly shooting trap rivets at Splicers counts as that is how I killed the 30th enemy.

The best traps for this achievement are

--Rivet Traps. You get these early, but it takes up to three shots to kill a splicer. On the other hand, you can walk through set rivet traps and easily pick them up.

--Proximity mine. These are sweet, but a little rare. One of these is almost a certain kill. Keep a distance between mines, they can set off a chain reaction.

--Electric Speargun traps. These are tricky to use. Don't walk into your own traps. Make sure both both ends are on something solid.

You can also use plasmid traps, but I found those hard to use.

Set these up before your little sister gathers adam. You could just shoot enemies with trap ammo, that usually counts.

This counts across multiple playthroughs.

This may sound quite time consuming but can be done with an alternative ammo for the rivet gun. Early on you will will find Trap Rivets for your gun. Press with the Rivet Gun selected to equip this ammo type, once selected you can either fire them directly at your enemies or set traps.

If you want to take the more creative approach you can mix your Plasmids to form traps. Mixing Cyclone with Incinerate/Elctro Bolt also works rather effectively.

To unlock this achievement you will need to kill 30 enemies using traps. Traps include the Trap Bolts used with the Rivet Gun and Trap Spears used with the Spear Gun. You can easily get this while gathering with Little Sisters, set the Trap Rivets, preferrably, around the perimeter and instigate the gather. You are likely to get more than a few kills with them. Do this at every gather and you'll have this achievement in no time.

A good location for farming is the Atlas Express level. Immediately after we finish the conversation with Tenenbaum, we save. After which the splicers fly in, beat them half to death, put a trap in front of them, and so on again until the trophy falls out.
After we deal with all the splicers, we immediately get the plot Protector

got it not too late, when he defended his sisters while collecting Adam, laying down mines with a bolt thrower (the first small arms weapon). Next you will be given a mini turret, with it it will be even easier to get the achievement. If you play on difficult, you will have to use this all one way or another, don’t miss the trophy.
