Put this together with the savior achievement.
Adopt all little sisters, each little sister gets you 2 gathers.
During this achievement you can also earn 'Master Protector'.

For Master Protector, there is one that will definitely earn you the achievement.
In Siren Alley, you come to a Big Daddy and Little Sister in the first room you visit. Kill him, adopt the baby girl and go upstairs to the balconies in this room.
There is an angel in the edge of the stairs on the balconies.
Put traps on the bridge and at the bottom of the stairs. Others around the corner on the balcony.
If you have proximity mines, use those as well.
Put the Little sister down and hide in a room behind her. Your traps should do all of the work. But a few may get through. None will get the surprise on you. So don't worry too much.

To couple it with savior, you need to save three other people too.
Grace, Gil and Stanley. When given the option to kill them, just turn your back on them and walk away to comtinue the story path.

For those who have missed this achievement in any playthrough, I'd just like to point out that this achievement is cumulative over multiple playthroughs and saves. This means that we can manipulate the mechanics to be able to 'farm' the ADAM that you receive from a single little sister ADAM gathering.

If you have a save where there is a little sister to be rescued in the level, perfect - find the big daddy and little sister, take out the big daddy by your preferred methods, and then go to the first gathering, finally save when the little sister is done, but BEFORE you pick her up. This way you can load, pick up, load, pick up until you get the achievement.

If you do not have a save like the above, with prior knowledge of the campaign, you can get to the first ADAM gathering within 10-15 minutes of starting the game.

This can also be applied to the Trap Master and Look at You, Hacker achievements, too, as this is a great way to get a fair few splicers to one location. Simply save before you put the little sister down, and then you can either put traps down or hack bots to kill the splicers. Rinse and repeat.

If you somehow missed it during your playthrough, it is even easier to fire up a Protector Trial map and play it over and over again until you earn the achievement. Unlike the 360 version the progress in this DLC also counts toward to the achievement.
