How to unlock the Auld Lang Syne achievement in BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition - Definitive Guide
1999 mode isn't that hard in most cases, but there are a few areas where help is necessary. I would highly recommend NOT using the dollar machines and getting the missable acheivement at the same time.
Troubled Areas
In the vault.
An easy method, that worked for me is to get rid of the bodies from Mrs. Comstock so she cannot keep reviving them. I did this by walking to the vault door, shooting at her to activate from INSIDE the vault and then running BACK through the back entrance in the wall. I then circled around and went up the stairs and entered the boss room from the patio. Again i shot at her jumped off and went back in the hall. If you enter from here, you can leave the room which offers shelter. and all the enemies will follow you up the stairs, and if you kill them here, she will not follow and therefore once they are dead, she will not revive them, and then you can easily kill her.
Fight outside Comstock house
MUST HAVE UPGRADED Devils Kiss FIRE TRAPS. Lay 5-10 traps to the left of the statue as shown in the video. As soon as she spawns, she will be killed. HOwever, these must be upgraded for maximum damage, and an instant death. (see 4:41 on video of actual placement)
Command Deck - made easy
This is VERY EASY! Make sure you have the upgraded RETURN TO SENDER trap. Then immediately upon starting, encircle the blue glowing machine with traps. As long as an enemy doesn't get too close, they will take 95% of all damage for the entire fight. And then possess everything that comes close and prioritize your bird to attack anything with a rocket. It helps a lot to have the clothing perk that gives you salt for your kills so that you can keep up the possessions indefinately.
The Scavenger hunt achievement in BioShock Infinite: The Complete Edition worth 295 pointsCompleted the Main Campaign in 1999 Mode without purchasing anything from a Dollar Bill machine.

This really isn't as hard as you might imagine... don't get me wrong, the enemies are harder and ammo/vigor's etc. are fewer, but I never ran out of anything. The key is to take your time and search everywhere. Some other choices I made that really helped me are:
Upgrade the Possession Vigor as soon as you can - this was my life saver... I would often hide from a large battle and just hit possession on anyone who got near me. This left only a few enemies to finish off.
Sniper Rifle and Shotgun or Handgun should be your weapons of choice - of course, this is down to preference, but I found the sniper rifle was great for those enemies that wouldn't come to me, and the shotgun or handgun was great to finish those that did! I only upgraded these three guns during this playthrough, as money is quite scarce.
Return to Sender Vigor is vital for Lady Comstock and the last battle - again, another preference that some might not like, but I found that this was amazing for the two hardest parts in the game. I'd save your cash and upgrade this vigor fully if you can - use it whenever your shield is depleted on Lady Comstock and lay traps in front of the generator that needs protecting in the final battle.
Upgrade Shield and Salts first and Health Last - I found salts invaluable for the Possession vigor and Shield for sustained protection... if your health is knocked down, there are usually pick-ups (such as food) that are close to a battle and Elizebeth will often throw you health packs or can open a tear nearby which you can use.
Winter Shield clothing is great for when there are skylines - or so I've read, unfortunately, as clothing is random, I didn't get to grab this piece (and I thought I had picked up all clothing upgrades!). If you do get this, then be sure to equip it for the last battle.
I hope this helps.
