I would suggest fully upgrading your Shield first, it will regenerate and is essentially an additional health bar. If you play on Easy, dying shouldn't be an issue.
Once you reach the Blue Ribbon, when you get your "first" infusion (which grants you the Shield), you will be given 5 Infusions, meaning you only need another 5 to max it out.
Follow the guide for "Infused with Greatness" to make this easy and get two achievements with one stone.

seems like their might be a strange glitch on this cheevo! i had all three at level 10 when i got to freeing elizabeth, after i freed her i had her unlock the door to the room overlooking where she was captive and on the desk was a voxophone some cash and an infusion. when i used the infusion on my shields this cheevo popped so it seems there might be 31 infusions in the game and it needs to be level 11! this would need to be confirmed though!
