How to unlock the Grand Largesse achievement in BioShock Infinite - Definitive Guide

Grand Largesse

Everything you buy in the game counts, Vigor upgrades, weapon upgrades, ammo, salt, health, ect. You don't have to grind this one out if you go around collecting money, and cracking every safe.

My advice is, hack every vendor machine you can and try to get all the safes in the game. There is usually the most amount of money in the safes. Also make sure to buy any keys you see, its usually an investment, since you don't need to accumulate 10000, buying the keys just goes towards the achievement.

If you do want to do some farming, the video is by IGN and is a way to farm money and lock-picks. This will take a while if you choose to do this method, but you eventually would get there. I recommend not doing the lock-picks and just grab the money, go back in hall, get salts, repeat.
Note: This is AFTER going through the Hall of Heroes, not before.
Also Note: There is easily over 10k money in the game, farming is not necessary if you want to explore and collect money.

According to NoHairCutIsland you can get this achievement as soon as you hit 1000$, just reload checkpoint and spend the 1000$ 10 times.

Also to add, this does stack through multiple playthroughs.

A really easy way to grind it out, if you have lets say 1000 coins, get a checkpoint, then buy 1000 silver eagles worth of stuff, you can reload the checkpoint and get the money back and buy it again, and it should all carry over

Yes Iceman, you do not need to farm or do the reload trick, I did it without either, its just if people want to get the achievement faster.

I can confirm that NoHairCutIsland's method works.

Yep all the advice/tips here worked for me. Did a play through on 1999, now on my second playthrough. Did the checkpoint trick only 3 times, and got it, so obviously carried over from the 1st play through :)

Yeah, the money is cumulative, like rest of the achievements, only all infusions must be collected on one playthrough. I first finished normal playthrough, then started on 1999, spend around 2000-3000 dollars and the achievement unlocked.

I reloaded Emporia a few times. The reason for this is because at the time of starting that level I had about $1000, and there was a vending machine that sold expensive weapon upgrades just under the bridge right by the checkpoint. Quick and simple! :)

*SPOILER BELOW*

I didn't do any farming, but tried to find everything I could along the way. I just got to the point where I have to backtrack to find Lady Comstock's grave. Stopped over to upgrade my Hail Fire and the achievement popped.

First load any chapter such as, "Return to hall of heroes plaza," and making sure you have cash available, $800-$1000 should be enough. Then find the closets upgrade station (behind load point) and purchase anything available. For example I purchased extra 25% rocket damage for around 800$. Quit and redo it a few times and the achievement is yours.

Still works, thank you. Also, to be clarified - you can simple press restart checkpoint, not quitting.

Easiest way to knock this out would be to unlock it with "Lost Weekend" for a double whammy. Load up a save from Shantytown. After you reach the bar, get drunk, and obtain the prior achievement, be sure that you have $1000 or more on hand. Approach the vending machine for Vigors and purchase the Crow's Aid for $1400. Exit the bar and walk a few feet, and the game will autosave. Keep reloading until the achievement unlocks.

If you already have Lost Weekend the Hand of the Prophet level is a good alternative. That's where I got it because I had more cash at the time. You start the chapter in the same room as a vending machine. Reloading without an auto save worked for me here too.

There are three types of vending machines in Columbia: the “Dollar Bill” general store, the “Minuteman’s Armoury” weapons upgrade vendor and the “Veni Vidi Vigor” Vigor upgrade store. Money spent at all three of these count towards this trophy. It is also cumulative across all playthroughs, so you should easily get this on your second run if you hadn’t already in your first.

The best way to earn $10,000 is by looting everything. Take your time to search every available container and dead enemy, and you will find your money increasing very quickly. It sounds obvious, but try not to die too often, as this results in you losing money every time. If you upgrade your weapons and Vigors frequently, as well as buying Health, Salts and Ammo supplies, this trophy will unlock before you know it.

There is no notification in-game that tells you how much you’ve spent at vending machines, but there is an exploit. Simply spend all your cash at a vending machine and reload the checkpoint. You will have all your cash again, but the amount you previously spent will still have counted. If you want to get this trophy out of the way early, keep repeating this until you’ve “spent” $10,000.

The trophy is cumulative and if you restart the checkpoint, the money spent still goes into statistics. A good place is in The Factory location, on the table (in front of the door, next to which lies the Undertow plasmid) there will be about 1k $, take them, go into the next room and spend them, restart the checkpoint, repeat until you get the trophy.

As you progress through the game, you will receive money that you can spend on upgrading weapons and magic. Towards the end of the game you will most likely receive an achievement.
