There are 5 Missable audio Diaries, 2 of these are in the first area Welcome to Rapture and the other 3 are in Ryans's Control Room. I have marked the missable ones in Bold.

I've played the entire game twice, grabbing every diary both times. And I am still stuck at 99%. Only now my game won't allow me to make more than 1 save file most of the time. Sometimes, it says I don't have room for even that single save. This version of this game is one of the buggiest ports I've ever played.

Edit: Here's how I got it to unlock. Though it likely just unlocked randomly on it's own, it did so after doing this so that's evidence enough for me.

Go into offline mode. Delete all save data for the game. Collect all diaries again. Save only when finding all diaries in an area to avoid consequences from inevitable crashes and corrupt saves. After getting the last diary in Point Prometheus, save and quit. Go online and start up the game, selecting the sync option for console data. Go to every diary entry in the menu and select to play it (this step is probably optional, but I did it anyway). Finally, view the achievement directly from your profile page.

It's probably worth mentioning that "First Encounter" while found in Farmer's Market is added to the list for Neptune's Bounty - Smuggler's Hideout. So if you are using this list to check what you have missed and find them you will check your list for Farmer's Market see you are missing "First Encounter" and go to the spot and find it not there thinking your list is wrong like the guy above, when it's just a bug and added to the wrong list in game and you probably would have picked it up already. Nice work though I always prefer a text guide I can use after I have looked myself!

Guys, my cheevo also glitched on 99%, I had 122 diaries collected, even xbox.com displayed it as 100% complete, but it was still locked. What I did I started New Game Plus and began to collect diaries once again. Achievement popped on "McDonagh – Arresting Fontaine" diary (Neptune's Bounty level). So if for some reason in-game tracker messed up just don't give up and start all over in NG+

Yeah, stuck for me too. I replayed on NG+ and went through collecting the diaries again. Eventually popped for me in Fort Frolic with "The Iceman Cometh". Bit annoying to go through it again but if you're getting the same issue you may want to try that for the achievement.

Mine was stuck on 98% after my first play through even though I collected them all. I started a NG+ and rushed through the game. I finally unlocked it on the 4th last audio diary in Point Prometheus, Protector Smell. Didn’t think it was going to unlock after a second play through. Glad it has now!

Ran into a ton of glitchy achievements in this game, and this one was no exception. Collected all the audio logs in the first playthrough and of course the tracker was stuck at 99%. Had to go through the game again picking up all the audio logs again until Arcadia where it finally unlocked for me when I got the Lazarus Vector Formula which is inside the safe in Langford's office.

Unlocked this today on my first playthrough, BUT noticed something odd while doing so. I play on two different consoles--an original One and a newer One X. When I was done with all the audiotapes except the last, the original XB tracker showed 99% and the XBX tracker showed 98%. I picked up the last tape on the original XB. I wonder what would have happened on the XBX?

ANYONE STUCK ON 99%: I was there too, checked the Audio logs 3 times before starting a New Game Plus on EASY and started re-grabbing the audio logs with little hope, BUT I only had to get to [Yi Suchong - Enrage Trial - Kure-All, corner of the main room.] Audio Log in Medical Pavilion (12 Audio Logs into the game). I hope this info can help others stuck at 99%, this cheev is buggy af. Good luck :)

How late is too late to backtrack? I'm a big daddy doing the proving grounds when i learned i missed an audio diary. One in the Olympus Heights.
Can I backtrack before the final boss?
If i dont, since i have hte rest if i get the missing one will it still pop or do i have to have all of them in one save file?

For future reading: I was stuck on 99% and got to the stage where I was about to head to the Proving Grounds. I went through the diary list and saw I had missed one in Fort Frolic. Fortunately I was able to go back to the area and get it (FYI it was The Wild Bunny). Not to say it is a point of no return but if you are at this point with 99% for Historian, DON'T go into the Proving Grounds, check the list and see if you have missed one.

For the record I had done half a play through on NG+ and had a checklist and interactive map both at 100% and still only showed 99%, trust me just start a new game!

I had the bug and started a new game, but percentage did not go up while playing. I was trying to collect them all again and got pretty far in the game.
However when I was playing another game the achievement suddenly appeared. I don't think it was because of the new game, the achievement just popped out of nowhere.

I have just finished this off following 3 runs of the campaign due to the tracking bug.

I can see 2 main issues that seem to affect the tracking:

1. Picking up audio recordings whilst dialogue of other recordings are playing.

2. Launching the game via Quick Resume following another game having been played.

To make this achievement as bug-free as possible on your first run, I would recommend making a save before each audio tape and using the achievement overlay to monitor whether the tracker goes up at all. If not, reload the save and try again, making sure both points above that can affect the tracker are taken into account.

This glitched for me. I didn't see the problem with it not tracking until well into the game seeing the percentage was still low. I got all of them in one play-through. Only got to 95%. Achievement glitches are inexcusable and lame. FANTASTIC GAME. Played it when it first come out on the Xbox 360. Still awesome all these years later. (Update: During my second playthrough using NG+ it finally popped at "Marketing Gold" at Point Prometheus.)

Just gonna share my experience here.

I ended up doing two and a bit playthroughs. First time was on 96% by the end, second time on New Game + was on 99%. On second playthrough I was mindful of The Time Tycoon's comments around other factors which appear to prevent tracking.

I reached out to 2K support at this point as like most of you I was pretty frustrated. They gave advice on clearing the cache (hard reset on xbox) and checking Internet connection to see if this resolved the issue. Neither of which worked for me.

They then noted that New Game + is known to have issues with incremental achievements (though it seems to work fine for others above) and so they suggested a new game without NG+. Fast forward to Neptune's Bounty, Sullivan - Have My Badge, and it has finally unlocked!

So if any of you are in the same boat as me, I suggest give it a go on a new game without NG+. It could just be coincidence and it may have worked on another NG+ save but who knows!

This glitched on me. Starting a "regular" new game fixed it when I found the glitched log... I didn't need New Game Plus. In my case it was Audio Diary #87/122: Fontaine's Legacy in Hephaestus. It was present in my log from the first run, but...

I found that it stopped tracking at the end of my 2nd playthrough. Everything in 3rd playthrough didnt count.

Going to play another New Game plus but this time choose the file that ended the first playthrough and see if that works.

What this means is out of the 122 only 1 or 2 didn't count somehow despite my picking them up.

Tomorrow I will start my third playthrough and I will make a manual save at every single collectible before I pick it up.

Got my achievement on my 3rd playthrough. The one I was "missing" was on Fort Frolic. Provided the one(s) you are missing are located earlier in the game you don't have to do a full playthrough to get the achievement to unlock.

Hm i'm hoping i have the same luck with it as Blitz above, done 2 playthroughs and got all diaries and little sisters both times and i'm stuck at 98% diaries and 95% for sisters. Might have to try a 3rd playthrough to see what happens i guess.

So I don’t know if this helps anyone. But I played through on easy and collected all 122. At the end of the game I was at 86%. I started up a second play through on NG+ and got to collectible 121/122 and the achievement popped. I got worried towards the end thinking I was going to have to do a third run. But my percent slowly went up to 100% from 86% in my second run.

Similar to BigBubbaD above, I also got it on NG+ with collectible number 120/122 called Mistakes (which I definitely got in the first playthrough). The achievement showed 95% after the first playthrough and only jumped to 96% throughout NG+. From 96% it seemed to just unlock, so just hang in there if you are nearing the end of NG+ and it still hasn't changed!

I had somewhat of a similar experience. First playthrough, I got to 95%. NG+ playthrough got me to 99%. I then started a fresh game and got to the midst of Hephaestus before this finally popped.

It took three playthroughs, all NG+ (all collected each time)
1st run ended on 93%, 2nd run 98% and on the third run i had the tracker on screen, the first one i was missing was one of the first and it didnt unlock until about 118th. The last run i followed the advice of not having any other messages playing and then when i picked one up I held A to play it and waited for it to finish before continuing
Hopefully this helps someone with this pos ( July 23)

anybody stuck at 99%, your probably missing the *Requiem for Andrew Ryan Audio Diary. it can be found at Fort Forlic, in the Projection Booth of the Fleet Hall Theater (second floor). its easily missed because its locked when you first arrive.

I finished the game at 97%, missing: Welcome to Rapture / 1. New Year's Eve Alone; Medical Pavilion / 6. Love For Science; Rapture Central Control / 99. The Vita Chamber.

I started a NG+ on easy (which is almost god mode), grabbed "New Year's Eve Alone" and "Love For Science" after only a few minutes of running and gunning. After those two the xbox tracker said I was at 99%.

Here's the fun part: while in my NG+ easy game, I loaded a save at Hephaestus from my first play-through on normal difficulty. When the old save loaded, I ran into Ryan's office and picked up "The Vita Chamber" and the achievement popped. So I didn't have to replay all the way to Rapture Central Control. Hope that helps save someone time!

It's also worth mentioning, in this xbox one version of bioshock, you do not need to get all of the diaries in one game.

I missed one in welcome to rapture, and I was able to start a new game, and just grab that diary, and get the progress toward the achievement. I went back to the save where I didn't grab that diary, and grabbed all the rest, and I got the achievement.

Alright, after struggling with this for about a week, trying the new game +, trying to go back from a save and collect whats been missed, I had my tracker at 96% when I back tracked. I knew I missed "new years eve" so I collected all others. I even started a new game and got it only to see the tracker count up. MY ADVISE TO ANYONE THATS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS TO START A NEW GAME. I started a new game on easy (so I could run and gun) didn't create any save only let the autosave save for me. Had to replay Arcadia that was it. Trust me don't get aggravated just start a new game if this is the only achievement your looking for! Good luck! Just wanted to share my experience.

I unlocked the achivement right now. Was the same for me. When I finished the first playthough, I got all 122 audios, but no cheevo. My percentage for this cheevo stucked in 91%. I had to start a second playthrough through New Game Plus. The difficulty seems don't matter. I had to play the entire game again, collecting all audios again. This time, fortunatelly the cheevo unlocked with 116/122 during Point Prometheus level. This could be suck if the game wasn't good.

Ended my first playthrough with 91% and my second one (New Game +) with 99%. Tried reloading saves, restarting the xbox, deleting cache, opening achievement hub after picking up the last diary etc. Nothing has worked so far...

I am starting a fresh new game now and hopefully it will pop. If anyone has tips on how to unlock this glitched achievement, I would appreciate it.

Edit: It unlocked without any notification a few hours after posting this. I played up until "Smuggler's Hideout" on a new save before I turned off. I noticed the day after that it unlocked.

The only thing I've noticed that is odd is when you're checking which diaries you've already grabbed, the "First Encounter" audio diary from Andrew Ryan is incorrectly listed in the Neptune's Bounty/Smuggler's Hideout tab instead of the Arcadia/Farmer's Market tab.

I was having the 96% glitch as well, I went back through while going for Brass Balls following the wiki guide and making sure I had all the audio diaries before I left each area. When I got to Point Prometheus I collected the last one I need for the achievement and the tracker went from 99% to 96%. I quit out of the game and shut it down and all that and went out for awhile and when I came back I was hoping it would turn on and pop, but it didn't. What fixed the glitch though was pressing a to look at the achievement where it said 100%, then I went to the game hub and it popped. Hope this helps everybody with the 96% problem.

I thought I'd messed this up as I only missed the very first one, "New Years alone" and my achievement was at 99%. So I started a new game before even finishing the game, did the beginning and got the first one which gave me the achievement. Phew! I don't know if I had to collect the one that was missed or if the achievement tracker counts them as you get them but it's good to know missing one doesn't mean having to get them ALL again.

I have 122. I compared my list to the wikia list and I have all the same ones. But my tracker is only at 96%. Did they reintroduce the diaries they took out or do the directors commentary now count. Or am I glitched?

96% was on my newer tracker. Went to my older tracker and it too says 99% and I have checked 122 all accounted for. And I collected another commentary that I didn't get before and it didn't increase either tracker. I can only summarize that this is glitched and that the person before me was glitched but that starting a new game allows you to add to the previous games count. I will confirm when I restart after I have completed.

Did you check your other tracker (the older app), i'd bet it is at 99%. There MUST be one more, that didn't count in the original game, but does now.

I am unsure what your problem is. I followed the guide on the wiki and just double-checked to make sure I had all audio diaries in each area before progressing. I realized I missed one in apollo square while checking at the exit. maybe try that

I believe the achievement counter doesn't register sometimes. My "Research PhD" was glitched until I maxed out the Sentry Bots a 2nd time, so maybe the game registered that you picked it up but didn't send the data to the achievement. Now, I just need mine to unglitch..

Finally got it after playing through new game plus to fort frolic. I picked up audio diary "fancy cigarettes" in the smoke shop. After that it popped. I went back and looked at my audio diaries in my other save, and I had picked that one up. Incredibly random.

after being at 99% with ALL 122 audio diaries collected, checked and triple checked, I started a new game plus, and when I picked up TIMOTHY Interrogation (after inputing the code this time and NOT hacking it), I got the achievement. I check my first save file and I DID already have this audio diary. The code is 5380.

I had the 99% problem as well, I went back through and turns out it was the "pulling together" diary that was bugged as the achievement popped on new game plus after collecting it. Im guessing whats going in is one diary is getting bugged for people with the 99% problem and not registering it to xbox. Just replay until it pops getting them 1 by 1.

Mine never popped either. Found what one's I was missing and after picking up the last one... nothing. I saved, exited, and went to the game hub and as soon as i tabbed over to achievements, it popped. Now if only I could get the research achievements to pop...

For those who might still hem all but still having a stuck achievement counter. What I did was go back and open each and every one of them in the menu, it my stuck status at 99% for 2 weeks pop and I got my Gs.

I'm currently collecting all the audio diaries but I've noticed the achievement tracker is counting them wrong. The percentage is currently lower than it should be for how many diaries I have. With all these people complaining about the achievement being stuck at 99% should I be worried or will this eventually correct itself?

I can confirm as of June 2020 if it doesn't pop on your last audio diary then shutting the game down completely, then restarting your xbox and rebooting the game, then looking at your achievement list from the guide and selecting this achievement, and then finally going to the game hub does infact unlock it. It never popped onscreen but my gamerscore and achievement list were credited.

My game got stuck at 99% yesterday. I double checked I had all 122 diaries, and I did. With other non-popping achievements I had been able to get them by visiting the “all achievements” page on the dash, as has been widely discussed. Not so for this one. I went and did another few achievements today and this evening started BioShock 2 Remastered. Then, bam! This achievement popped about 1 hour into BioShock 2. Weird, or what? I’m very happy that I don’t have to restart BS1. Thought I would just post for benefit of anyone else in this situation.

I was also stuck at 99% but finally I figured out which diary I was missing.
Remember that you can check which diaries you have picked up. Press the back button and then RB twice.

The one i was missing was on a f...cking corpse in the Hephaestus level.
Don't give up! Check again! :) And hopefully you have a save on each level like I had. :)

Above mentioned guides āre good. Just wanted to add even if you collect all audio logs in the game, xbox wount reģistrē it in the system. For me and many other player it seams to stop ON 96% or 99%. A had 99%(excluding director cuts film wheels) and achievment wount pop. In that case what you have to do.
Finish your first playtrou ON any dificulity, and then start New game plus(alows you to cary your progress and unlockable weopons, abilities, thonicks from get go). And again pick up audio logs from start. Myne achievment unlocked by collection audio log in mision FISH MARKET, the first one next to the turēt at mision start. Būt it May be random for every one what it seams from coments.

In the menu (where the map is) there is a list of all the diaries you have collected. Just check the list in front of the main boss and look for the missing ones.
Don't worry, the game allows you to return to completed stages through the submersible.

The trophy is cumulative! Missed audio recordings can be collected in the second playthrough. Got it after skipping an audio file in Rapture Central Control.

Diane McClintock - New Year's Eve Alone - On a table in the flooded area of the Kashmir restaurant.
Steve Barker - Hole in Bathroom Wall - On the far wall in Kashmir's bathroom.

Rapture Central Control (Ryan's office)

Yi Suchong - The Vita Chamber - Control room, table next to the Vita-Chamber.
Yi Suchong - Mind Control Test - Control room with photos of Fontaine, Suchong, Tennebaum
Yi Suchong - Baby Status - Ibid.

All the rest can be collected before entering the test site.

If anyone missed the diaries from the first location, collect all the others that you can return to through the bathyscaphe, then go to the last boss, kill, and start NG+ and select the last save, finish off these diaries and that’s all, verified personally 02/25/2020

The trophy is not cumulative. I had to go through the game again, I couldn’t collect the first 2, NG+ wouldn’t let me continue. Be sure to collect the first 2.

During the last chapters the game crashed and after restarting it said that the save was damaged, it loaded from the beginning of the current chapter and after that trophies for cumulative items (diaries, plasmids, tonics, sisters, weapon upgrades) stopped appearing, even after restarting from earlier saves. On NG+, after receiving the inventory from the previous playthrough, I clicked the trophy for weapon upgrades, the rest were not counted. Looks like you'll have to go through it again.
