EDIT- This Achievement seems to have been fixed somehow and my guess would be a Hot Patch. The best way to get it to unlock seems to be either just simply loading up the game, loading a old save, pulling up the achievement list for the game which personally worked for myself, and some have reported it randomly popping while playing other games. All I can say is thank you to everyone who took the time to submit tickets, and gaining the momentum we needed to get this fixed. I can't say for certain that 2K was indeed the cause of the fix, but it seems highly likely due to the amount of people that all unlocked it around the same time.

This achievement has totally glitched for me and I can't unlock it no matter what I do!
I have unlocked the achievement for inventing 100 items which is really ticking me off to add to it. I have tried reverting saves, hard resetting my console, deleting my profile off my Xbox and recovering it, and saying a prayer to the Bioshock Gods and nothing has worked!
As soon as I noticed that my tracker was putting progress towards inventing 100 items/inventing every type of ammo, and I hadn't yet unlocked this achievement first I immediately started to worry and tried doing every fix I knew but still no luck.
If ANYONE has experienced this glitch and has fixed please let me know your method ASAP. I'm sorry if this isn't the place to put this, but I felt other people should know it could happen to them as well.
Also I should add, I was not "cheating/glitching/farming" items, etc. in any type of way and was playing completely normal and nothing out of the ordinary.
I should also add that I have not tried to see if the achievement will unlock if I start a new game and make it to where I can invent something and see. Also, I even reverted a save and did not invent anything until *spoiler* the mandatory item you have to invent in the farmers market.

Glitched on me too. I even started a new game + and a basic new game in the hope that when I got to Arcadia it would unlock when I used the U-invent station. So I can confirm starting a new game does not work.

They are aware, but there is no set time for the fix.

Like many here I too was hit with the basic inventor glitch, but it just unlocked for me. Sadly I can't offer a 100% solution to the fix, as I was just messing around when it popped to my considerable surprise. Still, I'll happily share what I was doing on the off chance it could help.
I had almost finished running through my new game plus for the audio logs. I had been inventing a few things here and there whenever I passed by a U-Invent. The Historian achievement popped and I reloaded a save I had made at the Proving Grounds right before the final fight. I hacked the U-Invent here with an auto-hack and began to fire off all my exploding buck rounds for the shot gun and making more. I would fire off a few rounds and make a couple more. To my surprise Basic Inventor unlocked as I was firing off some rounds.
In addition, I did not delete and re-download my profile, delete and reinstall the game, or erase any of my data. I did do a hard restart on the xbox prior to playing, but that was to help fix an install error with another game.

I have tried that. I have even tried playing the game on a different console offline and fulfilling the requirements and then connecting to Live in hope it would unlock but it did not.

Dammit, I really had hoped that would do it. Because for some reason I felt like they changed it to they wanted the first item you invented to be that. Celtic do you gameshare with anyone else that has already unlocked that achievement before you did? I'm wondering if that could be the problem.

It is definitely not a 'done unlocking' issue, because a simple delete and recover of the profile would have fixed that.

Nope, I don't gameshare. In my experience recovering your profile doesn't fix done unlocking. Also the first time I created an item was before the mandatory item.

It had to be them adding the challenge rooms that messed things up. Because the original bioshock never had this problem. I just really hope they fix this so I can max this out. I have maxed out the original 3 and would really hate if I couldn't do the same with the collection. Well thanks for the replys celtic, at least we know it's nothing on our parts, and this solely relys on them. Let's just pray for a patch, and I really hate to say this, but we also have to hope that this happens to a lot more people for any hope for it.

has anyone tried the achievement on "survivor difficulty"? I know one of my achievements I did 10 times and it wouldn't unlock "save all sisters" and then I tried on survivor difficulty and it popped first try. maybe try to reload the save and try on survivor difficulty?

I reloaded the save I made right before the final battle, in the Proving Grounds. Changed the difficulty to Survivor, nothing. Changed it to Hard, nothing. I even invented a couple things in the Ferris Wheel challenge room, nada. It's fucked.

Well I finally at least got a response from 2k support. Enough people have submitted tickets that it's being looked into by the development team. But wasn't able to give me any kind of estimate on when a patch will be coming out, meh....

I was very explicit in my request/ticket about which level/map the achievement is first available, what needs to be done to get the achievement, and that I also unlocked the Avid Inventor and the Ammo Inventor achievements.
That said, it is probably why I got a more detailed response.

maybe that achievement is getting "stuck" server side for many of us, like many other achievements these days. Just this time it seems to be affecting a small portion of the community. we can hope it unlocks later.

I've had several achievements that had no, Done Unlocking... or 95%, that unlocked several weeks or over a month later.
It could be that an exceptional number of us are having this experience and thus it has reflected that experience in our community.

Yeah 2K obviously did a Hot Patch or 100% had something to do with it being fix because the odds of it starting to unlock for all of us is clearly next to none! But hey I'm not complaining or anything! But they could of at least let the community know they did would of been nice. But they also never like to admit when they were wrong and when they released something that was broken they like to put the blame on us and make it seem like it was something on our end that caused it you know!

Guys PLEASE take the time to submit a ticket and be very detailed when you do it, that's the ONLY way this is ever going to get fixed. I know they probably have a minimum on the amount of people that have to be affected by the glitch before they actually lift a finger to help the community and to spend any extra money that they have to. So even if you are not affected by this glitch and you want to see other people get the help they deserve, PLEASE take 2 minutes out of your day to submit a request guys!

Okay is there ANY way someone can try out this method for me guys, can someone please delete all saves from their console, and then start a new game completely fresh, and then I want you to play through all the way to Arcadia, and DO NOT invent anything (also do not even open a u-invent machine until the time comes), until you complete the quest for a certain somebody in Arcadia ( the one that requires you to collect 7 of each item in order to invent it), and when you have all items collected, make your way back to the original office that you started the quest in (where a certain someone died and smeared the safe combination on the glass), and ONLY use the u-invent machine in this office to create the item, and also make sure you do not hack the machine when you go to invent it. And PLEASE let me know if this worked. I know it takes a decent amount of time to get to this, but if it ends up working it's worth a try. I would but I'm not done with my playthrough so I can't delete all of my saves.

I have same problem. 5 points shy of full 1k. Submitted a report but no help and no time line on a fix. below is the reply I got from them.

This finally popped for me completely out of nowhere. I haven't touched this game since the middle of September and this achievement popped while I was playing Star Wars Battlefield. I only noticed because my windows phone gave me a notification that it popped. Now I'm motivated to return to the game and get the 2 remaining achievements I have left.
