How to unlock the “Worlds of Hurt” – Expert achievement in BioShock Remastered - Definitive Guide

Just tested a theory I had and it worked. So it turns out you can do the same trick here as with the campaign.

Here it is in step by step format.

1) Start the challenge on Medium.
2) When in the game change the difficulty in the options to Easy.
3) Complete a challenges.
4) Change back to Medium at the end before saving the little sister.

Hope this helps. I did this and netted a nice time of 12 mins 7 seconds.

I just tested this I didn't even save in between just started on medium then when the game starts switch to easy then right at the end before you rescue the little sister switch to normal.works for the tough guy achievement too (only use wrench and plasmid one).

Just a warning in case you wanna be a smart ass like me. angry
Do NOT start a game on hard or extreme and switch to easy as described in the guide. I did this three times and the achievo did not pop at the end.
Then I did a fourth run on medium and it did work first try.

Thank you everyone who have stated this method works and thank you for all the positive votes. Shame about the 2 negative with no reason why. This was my first solution posted on here and I am so happy I was able to help my fellow achievement hunters out there. I will try to continue adding new solutions for different games in the future.

Just a trick: You are able to save (Y button) the Little Sister before her cage door completely opens: You must crouch on the left side of this door, just in front of the Little Sister, and keep pushing Y button until You get the "save the sister" prompt. She is probably unlocking the door at this time.
You can save 20-30 seconds in this way, very useful trick if You are short of time.

Great tips. I only wish I'd saw this worked for the wrench achievement also. Thanks for sharing. Also, I can confirm with the comment above, there is no need to change back to medium at the end.

I piddled around a bit, but was able to save time by accidentally dropping down to the bottom of the houdini room (I was shocked I didn't die) and used my bees and crossbow. They all just went to the bottom for me. I also saved time by running straight to the big daddy in the security bot Room. I only had to kill the two security bots that spawned and proceeded to chase me. Jumping at the end to reach the little sister saved me. I only got the achievement by 3.1 seconds lol.

Doesn't work. Done it twice, once keeping it on easy and once switching it back to medium, neither unlocked the achievement because both times it says I only completed it on easy.

Also, FYI this method does not work if you had the starting difficulty as SURVIVOR. Did the exact same thing and got 11:56 but the achievement wouldn't pop.

^^ Irony

Another tip, if you're using the bow like I did, you can almost rapid fire by switching to a plasmid (just cn_LT) and cn_RT again, reloads the bolt automatically.

Honestly the easiest way, as mentioned: start in medium then reduce to easy (has to start and end medium).
Kill first guy, grab wrench jockey and electric DMG+ tonics first thing but buy incendiary bolts. They'll kill all splicers 1 shot. Run through the Houdini's then the spider splicers, wrench if they in your business otherwise crossbow. Grab the shotgun upgrades, they're all you need. Then buy electric bucks to handle the big daddies on other levels. Should only take 2-4 each so easy peasy. Got my run in 11min 10sec!

This achievement is actually easier than it sounds. All you need is an upgraded crossbow and follow the trick below and saving after every room.

Load up Worlds of Hurt on Medium difficulty.
As soon as the game starts, change the difficulty to easy.

Complete each room and with an upgraded crossbow the splicers and turrets die in one hit and the big daddies take no more than 3 in most cases.

Once you have completed the central hub challenge, press pause and change the difficulty back to Medium and then Rescue the Little Sister.

Great solution. To add, I realized that the cooldown between crossbow shots can be eliminated by hitting LT to switch to plasmid. So switching between crossbow/plasmid/crossbow gives what is essentially an instant reload. Makes this a cakewalk!

Found some very good guides on YouTube. I take no credit for the videos all credit goes to the youtuber psychosmoke.

You can save at any time so you can try to better your previous times. I saved at the start of each room and then i could retry from a fresh run.

His time was 00.14.32.968
My time 00.14.22.314

So you can make a few mistakes hear and there. Good luck toast

If you negative vote please comment so know how to make the guide better thanks. smile

I wish I could give ReynoldsM an upvote for that link. That's what ended up getting me through this. Upgraded Crossbow and just run and gun the whole thing, with some grenades at the end.

I found those vids a little more trouble than they were worth. I used this guide from PS Trophies for the 360 version DLC and the crossbow worked brilliantly, basically just one shot mobs provided you can aim well enough. Finished with a time of 13:48 so if you're struggling I would seriously give this a go.

Credit to Simula67 over at ps3trophies.com for the guide.

Thanks for the guide.
Videos are annoying to scrub through though.
The best guide for this would be a description of where to spend your Adam and money first, and what upgrades to get. Whether the camera is worth using, etc... Also the order of rooms to tackle based on your abilities.
Armed with that information, killing the enemies should be pretty straight forward if you've played the game.

Personally, I loved the way you broke down the videos for each room. I could pick and choose which I wanted to do and then just look at your video. Just save at the very end of each room and practice the next room until you can get your best time. Just FYI, the changing to easy method mentioned in other guides still works today. Kudos! Well done and thank you for taking the time to upload the videos.

The expert timing on this one is not particularly strict. I recommend just upgrading the machine gun fully in the two first rooms. There is a power to the people machine in both the mandatory rooms, but you will have to wait for the first one to activate. Spend most of your money on ammo for it, grab whatever your preferred plasmids are and just push through as quick as you can. It will help to be familiar with the layout before you begin.

If you are having trouble, if it is not fixed since the original game, it should be possible to start on medium, turn it down to easy, and turn it back on to medium before saving the sister. I've not confirmed this works, but my view on the cheating rule "Taking advantage of bad coding in general" should allow this.

As of today, March 13th 2020, the Medium to Easy trick still works. You don't even have to change it back from Easy before saving her, as long as you start on Medium. So much easier.

I moved my tip here for convenience!

The most difficult trophy from the expansion. as it may seem at first glance! The main thing is speed and accuracy!!! Weapons: use a crossbow + fire arrows for it.

1. First room A Single Splicer. We select a wrench and a pistol, kill the splicer, examine him and the daddy, get all the weapons from the girl and immediately upgrade the crossbow (everything should take you 40 seconds). We go out and buy fire arrows from the machine ($120)

2.Second room A Single Big Daddy. It will take you 4 shots to get the daddy, pump up the crossbow to the end (time 1m 20sec). We go out and buy arrows.

3. Third room Security Bots. First we kill the splicer, and then the daddy (time 2m 20 sec). We go out, buy health, arrows, and Enrage plasmids.

4. Fourth room All Kinds of Big Daddies. We run in and immediately throw rage at the daddy, run to the opposite end and throw rage again, then watch how the daddies deal with each other, finish off the last one with arrows, examine the daddies (time 4m 30 - 5 min).

5. Fifth room Spider Splicers. We run to the right, kill the splicer on the ceiling, run straight to the place where the little sister is. Splicers will start crawling towards you, we kill them all (time 6 minutes - 6 minutes 30 seconds). We go out and do some shopping.

6.Sixth room Houdini Splicers. We go down and don’t forget to throw rage at the splicers; when you go down, a good half of the splicers will kill each other, all you have to do is finish off the rest at the very bottom (time 8 minutes - 8 minutes 30 seconds).

7.Seventh room All Kinds of Enemies. Don't forget the main thing - accuracy and speed. We run straight, then to the left - we kill the splicer, the second on the ceiling, the third straight, we run further and turn right and kill the splicer with the pipe, then the nitro splicer, then houdini, we run to daddy, turn left and kill the splicer with the machine gun, then we run along diagonals and kill houdini and nitro splicers, and pronounce the death sentence on daddy))) (time 9min30 - 10min). We go out and do some shopping. and also buy Targeting Dummy plasmids [Target].

8.Eighth room Security Turret Maze. Here we use the purchased plasmid (total: 11 turrets, 3 splicers and a daddy) time 11 min - 11 m 30 sec.

We go out and run straight to the girl, the lights go out, at this time we run to the machine and buy everything we need. Next there will be 5 waves of 3 splicers each + daddy at the end!! You should still have about half a minute left at the end.

I passed it the first time, using only a shotgun and buying regular ammunition for it. with a shotgun pumped up for damage, regular b. daddies fly away with 4 shots, the only other (in a location with 4 daddies) with 6-7. I didn’t use plasmids at all, I didn’t buy first aid kits, I looted corpses. time 14:07.

You start on a medium and as soon as you throw it into the test, set the difficulty level to easy, run through it for the first time to get acquainted, the second time, at the first opportunity, install the necessary improvements for hand-to-hand combat (the last 2, a boxing glove and something else, I don’t remember) and buy electric cartridges for a shotgun, and we use them only on daddies (it dies on easy with 4) we saw an improvement, pump up the shotgun, otherwise we run around with a wrench, periodically, if necessary, buying more cartridges and first aid kits. Before saving my sister, we set up a medium. Thus, I had about 1.5-2 minutes left.

Set the level to easy (I raised the level before each gift, then lowered it), sometimes I forgot. You run and kill everyone with ordinary arrows. Before killing the final daddy, we set the average level (before my sister I set the maximum level), I got the trophy)

Run the DLC on medium difficulty. As soon as I started the passage, I switched to easy. In the end, I ran with this difficulty to the end and, what’s most interesting, I forgot to switch before saving my sister - they still gave me the trophy.

There is no need to increase the difficulty before the final daddy.
In case you have two to one and a half minutes left for the last battle: lower the difficulty to minimum, buy ignition, two explosive bolts and a lot of eve. We stand still and set fire to all spawning enemies (this is much faster than shooting from a crossbow with reload or hitting with lightning + a key). We stick 2 explosive bolts into daddy 2, then turn the difficulty up to at least maximum and go save my little sister.
