This will almost certainly come naturally. There are a ton of explodable environmental hazards, and if you shoot or hit one while close to it, you will catch on fire and take damage from the explosion. This is likely to unlock in the first Level, but if for some reason you are getting farther into the game and don't have it, walk up to a red barrel and shoot it while standing next to it.
