How to unlock the Praetorian Guardsman achievement in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - Definitive Guide

Achievement Name: Praetorian Guardsman
Worth: 30 G

To obtain this, you must achieve level 30 in Network mode.

The best possible way to go about getting this is finding a willing boosting partner, then taking turns leveling up. Go for perfect matches, and get distortion finishes. This adds a little bit of extra experience. You will progressively gain more experience as you require more for each level.

Overall, it takes about 3 to 4 wins to level up once your past the level 10+ mark. This takes a couple of hours to boost.

If you want to do this legit, good luck. Each win will net you about a third or fourth of the experience you need to level up. Each loss you get will only reward you 10 or 11 points, which is practically nothing. So go out there and win if you really want this!

Note: This is the highest level you are required to reach if you are going for a completion in this game. Once you go past 30 however, do note, it will now take you about 7 or 8 wins to advance in level.

Hope this helps, any comments, questions, concerns, please comment below. :]

I'm playing ranked matches and only getting 100 exp and I'm getting all exp bonuses? What's up with that...

Little info for you all:
You need 4152300 exps from level 1 to level 30.
The amount of exp you receive depends on what level your opponent currently on. My advise is DONT boost this game using a dummy account. You only get 1441 points per match if your dummy account is on level 1(includes all bonuses). Maybe you'd like to increase your boosting account and then beat the hell out of it but it's a completely waste of time. Contact someone who is level 30+ and willing to help you and you'll find your level increasing rapidly. Maybe you'll find yourself unlocked this one before the "100 matches" one does.

You earn this achievement by reaching Level 30 online.
Your level only goes up, it never goes down, all online modes contribute so any playing online will help (even losing can earn you positive points), however some modes will give you more EXP than others.

In order of importance from most important to least:
1. Playing Ranked online will earn more EXP than Player Match
2. Playing Someone of a higher rank will earn more EXP
3. Winning a Perfect Match will earn more EXP
4. Performing an Astral Finish will earn extra EXP
5. Performing a Distortion Finish will earn extra EXP
6. Not using your Barrier Burst will give you extra EXP

While you get extra EXP for Distortion or Astral Finishes if you're boosting it's not enough to bother with them, you're better off just getting the match done quickly.

Best Boosting method:
* Play Ranked mode, there is hardly anyone playing this game anymore so it's pretty infrequent that you get matched up with randoms. My partner and I would just search for "quick match" on default settings at the same time, and we only got matched up with randoms about 4 or 5 times through the course of a 2 hour session.

* Winner should pick Hakumen. use the Forward+B attack over and over again

* Loser should pick either Carl Clover (he seems to be slightly weaker and will die faster), this person should continually walk toward Hakumen as each attack will knock them back slightly. (if you're going for the Ruler of Kagutsuchi achievement as well, just cycle through the other characters, you only save a few seconds per round picking Carl).

* Be sure to skip the arena intro as well as the character intro at the start of each match by spamming the A button, this will save a few seconds per match.

* If you're trying to get other achievements as well I recommend trading off 10 wins and 10 wins, or 5 wins and 5 wins. When you find your boost partner it will give you win/played stats, you can use this to keep track of who's turn it is.

* Whoever has the LOWEST EXP should go first, as it will help everyone progress faster.

The above method will allow you to complete each round in about 7 or 8 seconds. After loading and connection times, my partner and I were able to complete roughly 30 matches in an hour (15 wins each) you could probably do a little better if you're diligent.

Using the above settings and starting at level 1 with 0 online EXP: I reached level 10 after winning only 3 matches and I reached level 30 after winning 47 matches.

This trophy is titled "Praetorian Guardsman" and it's for reaching level 30 in online versus modes. While you can rank up in both player and ranked matches, it's strongly suggested you rank yourself up in ranked as the points are exponentially better. Below is a means of getting quick ranked matches completed.

In order to get through matches quickly with a partner, it's suggested the player losing plays as Carl and the player winning plays as Haku-men. Carl Barrier Bursts (X, Square, Triangle and Circle at the same time) and then Haku-men uses his forward + C (O on default controls) while Carl moves in to the attack. This can make each round roughly 5-6 seconds at most.

If you rotate between the wins, you'll level up together and therefore give each other more exp. It'd be unwise to try ranking one person up THEN the other compared to simply trading off wins. If you have a friend with the trophy already, naturally it'll be pretty quick however you need to play 200 games regardless. This should unlock around your 150th match or so if you trade off wins, leaving plenty of room for error.

You must rank up to level 10 & 30 in Ranked/Player matches. To get points you can win or lose however the loser will barely get even 10 points. Player Matches don't give as much EXP as Ranked; also bonus points are given for the following:

  • Perfect Match
  • Perfect Victory
  • Straight Victory
  • DD Finish
  • AH Finish
  • Didn't Barrier Burst
  • First Attack

You can also boost in ranked matches as described in "200 Trails" with a high leveled friend for a lot of experience. If you are looking for someone to boost with please refer to the following link: Trophy Boosting Thread
