You earn money by playing in the campaign, you can earn between 100k-500k+ in one game. Since their is a total of 27 games in the campaign mode, it is very simple to gain 1 million, and even easier to spend 1 million.

You earn money depending on how well you play in games as well as the bets you place on the game. You should be getting 200k+ even in D3 so this should be done after no later than your sixth game. Buy the upgrades for your team or spend the money juicing, doesn't matter which.
