How to unlock the That Man, Zangetsu achievement in Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon - Definitive Guide

To reach the "That man, Zangetsu " ending, you need to beat the game after sacrificing any two of the adventurers found at the end of Stage 1/2/3 and ignore one of them. The optimal/easiest path would be to sacrifice Miriam (Stage 1 – Crescent Slash) & Albert (Stage 2 - Double jump) and ignore Gabel (Stage 3) since his skill (Sprint) isn’t useful.

Difficulty (Casual/Veteran) does not matter.

I was wondering if anyone else had an issue with this unlocking. I did exactly as you said, but after the final boss the screen goes black for about a minute and then the credits start. I've gone through the game twice now with this issue.

I have the same problem with the black screen... but i finally made it by sacrificing Miriam and Alfred then ignoring Gebel, or some combination thereof, as long as you RECRUIT NO ALLIES. You need to leave at least one character alive, but you don’t want any allies recruited.

Works in Ultimate Mode by sacrificing Miriam and Albert (Alfred?) and ignoring Gabel. Cheeevo popped but black screen ending til the credits roll. Looks like all the ending cheevos can be accomplished in Ultimate Mode

I've just finished this and I think it's better to play this one on normal than on ultimate. You need to sacrifice allies and get their abilities anyway. I rather played through the first 2 levels without the additional abilites than have harder boss fights, especially stage 8.

As #boodomi stated in another comment:

I got a couple of tips that'll hopefully make this a little easier. Normally you would only get the two upgrades, (gauntlet from stage 6 and armor from stage 7) but it's possible to get the heart from stage 3 and urn from stage 4 using the double-jump and slash while being right below the object.

You can get the gauntlet by falling down left from it and using double jump to the right to reach it.

Sacrificed the first two and ignored the third. Got the black screen followed by credits and no achievement.

For this trophy, you'll have to beat the game alone, but without sacrificing EVERY potential ally.

The easiest way, in my opinion, is to kill the first 2 allies and ignore the 3rd

The first 2 give you the jumping slash attack, and double jump, which will make your life much easier. The third only gives you a command dash which I didn't find nearly as useful.

Doing it this way also makes it easier for you to use the Curse of the Moon and reset back to level 3 to go for another ending (bypassing the first 2 levels).

Once you beat the level 8 boss, this trophy will unlock

This ending is best done by sacrificing Miriam and Alfred then ignoring Gebel, or some combination thereof, as long as you RECRUIT NO ALLIES. You need to leave at least one character alive, but you don’t want any allies recruited. Sacrificing the rest will give you access to some of the Soul Arts - the Blood Moon double jump and Crescent Moon attack might be easiest to make use of.

Remember that when you beat the last boss, get to the center and hold to charge then release when fully charged to finish her off.
