How to unlock the Manic Mansion achievement in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night - Definitive Guide
In this guide we'll show you how to defeat the first boss to earn the "Manic Mansion" Achievement/Trophy in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night DLC.
Classic II: Dominique's Curse comes to add a brand new mode to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, bringing back memories of the early Castlevania, specifically Simon's Quest. This means you can't grind to level up your hero, though thankfully there are some upgrades via the shards you collect by killing enemies.
Before you enter the Infernal Fortress and face the first Duke of Hell it's a good idea to spend at least 20 shards to upgrade your hit points. There is an NPC one screen before entering the castle, so be sure to take advantage of his services.
The first boss isn't particularly difficult, however you're likely to die 3-4 times until you learn exactly what their patterns are. Our guide of course aims to take that trouble out of your hands by showing you exactly what to do. The attacks that the boss uses are four
1) He charges at you at speed
2) He throws three energy balls that, once they burst on the floor, create walls of fire
3) Attacks with a green laser that bounces off the walls like the Rebound Stone sub-weapon from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
4) It attacks you with its serpentine tail, which shoots out three energy beams
The most deadly and hardest to avoid attack is the first one. The only way to evade it is by jumping, though your timing needs to be perfect. You can only take a maximum of 3 hits from it, as the fourth will prove to be deadly. The second attack is easy to avoid as long as you keep the proper distance and don't be greedy with your attacks. Throw 1-2 hits and maintain a sufficient distance from your opponent. The third attack is easy to avoid, all you have to do is usually duck. Finally, for the last attack make sure to move to the edges of the screen so you have a large reaction time. Move or jump accordingly to dodge the fire.
