Just a heads up , sandbox mode does not work.
I got a map all the way to the end , sold everything and placed a load of monkeys .

To get this done very quickly you can just start placing dart monkeys ($170 each on easy difficulty) but make sure that you are also upgrading your good towers because these level 1 dart monkeys will not do much to help you. You may need to go into freeplay to get this done so don't rush or you will have no money for upgrades.
