Mission counters go up but you make 0 progress toward completing missions with your crew. Play the non-story missions!

The easiest way to do this achievement is to just do it early on, to prevent your crew (or crew member) from dying before reaching 30 missions, just do the non-critical missions to prevent deaths, and upgrade your plane along the way. It's also good to give your crew defensive gear to lower damage as much as possible. But if you do want to continue the story while getting this achievement, just know that if you get shot down or your crew member dies, just pause and select quit to the main menu, it will bring you back to the point before the mission if you do it before the mission ends (success or failure). Do a lot of side missions. They are “endless” and you can upgrade you crew members and equipment / plane together. Once one crew reaches 30 missions you will get this. This should come naturally as you go for Two hundred Targets (100G) and keep your crew alive.
