This is the combined number of battles you complete in your entire career on this game. Unlike it has been stated, this reflects both single player and multiplayer, both ONLINE and OFFLINE. Battles are more like rounds played. Ex. If you complete sngle player to 100 - then you have had 100 battles.
Although the achievement did pop while I was ONLINE, I want to confirm this does NOT have to be done online. I have done maybe 180 during one over night boosting session and 4 other where I got around 300. That totals less than 500 online. I have played a lot of single player and I just got the achievement tonight.
In other words. All single player and online rounds count for this.
