How to unlock the Thresher Thrashed achievement in Borderlands 2 - Definitive Guide
The video below shows the "glitch" spot that doesn't allow you to get damaged by Terramorphous. Some additional helpful information...when you get downed while fighting Terramorphous, you respawn down by the vending machines and have to run all the way around the curve and up the hill. There is a shortcut. When you cross the first low bridge, turn right and drop off the edge. You'll drop onto a metal platform that carries you to the top of the hill.
This will save you around 30 seconds each death. It's not huge, but after dying several times it gets very annoying having to run the long way.
If you are playing through in normal mode, the quest will be level 50, and odds are your character is in the mid 30's range. Either grind through the DLC in normal mode, or start a game in True Vault Hunter mode and level yourself up so that Terramorphous is actually possible to defeat.
I've read somewhere (can't provide the source unfortunately) that Terramorphous has less health in normal mode than he does in TVHM. So after I reached level 50 in TVHM, I changed back to normal mode, and started the mission.
Head to Thousand Cuts and follow the marker, after going down some stairs and platforms off the ledge of a cliff you will eventually come to a door that requires 8 Eridium to open. Inside there is a respawn booth as well as ammo and health vending machines, so you have unlimited chances to try the fight. It won't cost you Eridium every time you die and restart, but if you leave the area you will have to pay the Eridium again.
This is a raid boss and was designed with the intention of having 4 people fight it. So if you are like me, a primarily solo player, its going to be a tough fight. If you have no shame in finding glitches to your advantage, below is a video to help you beat the boss. I used it, and it worked for me.
Things to know beforehand
- Terramorphous can smash you off the cliff extremely easily, my first time facing him I was hurled off the ledge within 20 seconds of the fight beginning and had to restart. Make sure you move closer to the wall so that this doesn't happen.
- If you enter fight for you life mode, you can come back up by shooting the tentacles. So leave one or two alive just in case you get downed.
- Watch out for the giant stones the tentacles throw at you, they can down you very easily and seem to have a large splash damage area.
Story related and cannot be missed.
You'll first encounter Terramorphous the Invincible at the end of your 1st playthrough when the mission "You. Will. Die. (Seriously)" will become available from Tannis after you've defeated the last boss and the credits have finished. He will be located at Terramorphous Peak in the Thousand Cuts area and he's not an easy boss.
To have any chance of beating him, you'll need to be at least level 50 and will need a very good Badass Rank. As well as that, you may need 3 other players on your team who are matched the same in level/stats. It's also best to have one of each character in some situations, because of certain Skills working best off each other.
One thing you'll have to make sure you don't do is let everyone die. If everyone in the arena fighting Terramorphous dies, his health will be reset back to 100%. Plus every time you want to fight him and enter his lair, it'll cost you 4 Eridium. Other than that, good luck.
