If you find your achievement did not pop, here is a solution that inToX Shredz has posted on my Decrypted solution: "I just signed out and back in and it popped. If that doesn’t work though, try uninstalling and reinstalling your profile. Sometimes works when achievements seem stuck." This did seem to clear it up for a few different people.
THE SOLUTION
There are a few different ways you can defeat Haderax the Invincible. The easiest way is to have someone at a higher level join your game and have them kill Haderax for you. In Normal Vault Hunter Mode, he is level 38-40 depending on what level you finished the DLC.
If you are doing this solo, you can get yourself over leveled, and go back to Normal Vault Hunter Mode and take him down or you if you want the challenge, I'll have the steps below on how you can kill him.
For a legit kill
You're going to want the retainer and toothpick set that can be farmed off the sand worms in The Burrows. This gives you a massive speed boost while in The Writhing Deep, which is where you fight Haderax. You'll notice that when you fight haderax, he will heal whenever he goes underground. To stop him from healing, you need to have him slagged. If he is slagged while tunneling underground, he will not heal.
Now for damaging him. He is weak to fire damage. But just hitting him anywhere will not do enough damage to kill him effectively. On top of his head, there is a large yellow-ish area that is his crit spot. If you shoot that enough, he will slump forward and be stunned for a short period of time. Using a fire weapon and a bee shield will melt his health bar.

You unlock this achievement during the side mission "A Most Cacophonous Lure."
After completing the main story you can find Hammerlock back in The Backburner, specifically in Moxxi's bar. Speak to him to acquire this mission. Once accepted, follow the linear steps and eventually you will find yourself in an arena. There, you are tasked with killing Haderax the Invincible. If you're playing on Normal and have a level 50+ character, you shouldn't have too much trouble with this.
It's worth noting that Haderax has the ability to regenerate all of it's health; it can be very frustrating. The trick is to do massive damage in a short amount of time. Either having powerful weapons and strong equipment, or playing in a team of up to 4 where all players have decent equipment, will make this boss fight much easier.
NOTE: Grind Haderax as many times as you wish (provided you have the Eridium to spend on each attempt). After defeating him, save and quit the game, then load back up and run to the lair again and go through the same activation up the elevator and inserting Eridium and you can fight it again, indefinitely. This is how you can acquire all of the effervescent-quality gear for the "Painbow Connection" achievement.

The boss itself is a worm that sometimes crawls out of holes like a Theromorph. After you take down about 60% of your health, the worm will crawl across the map, and flying spores will appear from above. They must be destroyed as quickly as possible, since the worm significantly restores its health with these spores.
I forgot to add that the weak spot of the worm is on the back of the head, where the yellow spot is (but you still have to get there somehow) and if you take away this spot, the worm will fall above you and open its mouth in which there is another weak spot.
