How to unlock the Florida Man achievement in Borderlands 3 - Definitive Guide

This one is pretty self explanatory. Would add that Tediore reloads also count for this achievement. You just have to go into fight for your life as a result of your own grenade or explosion. If you do most of the damage, but someone else hits you as you go into FFYL, it will not count.

apparently shooting barrels do not count for this. Shot a explosive barrel died from it and no achievement.

I wonder if barrels can't be calculated as self damage.

It's likely you will get this by accident but if you want to speed things up, go into your inventory and unequip your shield then equip a Grenade (preferably one that detonates on contact) or a Rocket Launcher. Now find a convenient corner and keep throwing grenades/firing Rockets at the floor until you lose enough health to enter Fight For Your Life, after which the trophy will pop.
