How to unlock the Master Of All You Survey achievement in Borderlands 3 - Definitive Guide

PowerPyx has done a pretty good location guide for each planet. Here's a link to each individual planet. If anyone gets stuck or can't find a location, leave a comment and we'll see if we can't figure it out. Some are a pain.

Pandora - 78 Locations

Each trial, once discovered, will count as a named area as well, so once found, you will need to walk around until the name pops up on screen.

Same thing with all the slaughters, you need to travel into the slaiughters and walk around until you see the name.

These are easy to miss

The 6 Eridian trials are all locations if you fast travel to each one and walk around a bit, also the slaighterstar 3000 (believe unlocked after beating the game)

The Sifted Mars might be the last place for the Splinterlands @CjMAN911, as there's really no reason for you to drive through it through any side missions or main story

Dude I’m not missing those areas legit it says on droughts and the sand place I’m missing one I’m not though I went through and counted the in game tracker is off for me and so frustrating I have 60 some odd hours on this character I’m not doing these locations again

Yes literally on the Sand whatever it’s called there is 4 locations I have 3/4 I have went through that area like 10 times now and all 4 names pop up but it’s not counting

Tannis's Garage might be the one you need, I would drive until you're in the next named location and fast travel back to the start of the map. That's what I had to do to get it to register.

@Calex dEUS, the games tracker can be pretty wonky. Not sure how to force it to work in an area with only one named location.

I earned the achievements for Pandora, Promethea, Eden-6, and Nekrotafeyo location completion, as well as the 5 locations in Athenas and discovered all Eridian trials. All are accounted for but overall progression shows 222/223. Did i miss something? All 3 slaughter circles count towards the planet locations.

im missing 1 location and its in slaughter star 3000 according to my galaxy map yet i have been to slaughter star 3000 and discovered the area but it just hasn't counted in game. any idea how to fix this?

Yeah on PS4 I'm at 222 of 223 and have the other associated trophies but this one wont pop. Been to all locations including the slaughterhouses and trials. Ugh

Edit: I'm a moron. There are 6 Trials, not 5. Gg

Must have gotten lucky. Every tracker on every planet worked perfectly fine, and everything unlocked as intended. Above guide worked perfectly fine.

If you're missing something, it's probably in Pandora or a Trial/Circle of Slaughter.

@Batwoman Thank you so much. I was at 223/223 and didnt have the achievements for Pandora or all locations. Went to that spot and both achievements popped immediately.

I'm finishing all named place in Pandora then visit Slaughterstar 3000, the achievements didn't pop for me, and the orbit location shows I'm having 223/223 location already, does anyone have solution for this? thanks.

sometimes the first location doesn't show up right. So go to the next named area and go back to it. That sometimes tricks the game into unlocking the area.

The in-gmae trackers are also a bit of a mess. They're not the most accurate and the game does have quite a few visual bugs.

The Swamped Achievement glitched; I have all the locations (102% galaxy completion atm, I know it can go to 106%) and even spent the night going to all of them again to just make sure (need to try on TVHM). So it's blocking me from getting this Achievement and they're the last two for me to get. So frustrating!

Assuming this has to be done on one character? My main for some reason will not unlock one of the locations on Sandblast Scar. I have drove the whole map, ran the whole map, tried in my single player save, tried on my friends games, tried it on a different Xbox and even deleted my profile and redownloaded it. Nothing is triggering it. I see all four names of the locations when in there, pop up as I enter but I am still at 3/4.

Since the latest patch last week this achievement is now impossible, since you would need to walk THE ENTIRE game again to get all areas to unlock in a single sitting.

Now try doing that without this piece of shit of a broken game crashing. Good luck.

Yeah, I just recently did all the named locations in one sitting while using an X1X. I'm almost certain the reason a lot of achievements aren't tracking right, etc is because of people playing in Co-op(Same goes for the game crashing). Obviously this is just my experience but it seemed to hold true when I started doing all the achievements by myself and everything worked fine(achievements and the game not crashing).

I'm also playing on the X. Wasn't doing coop when going for the areas. Just teleporting around and rushing things was making my console crash. It's stupid to try for something like this. Hope they patch it soon =(

I noticed the saved locations. It seems the first area of every zone you go stays saved, and also the zone you spawn in when you enter the game is also fully discovered.

So today i reached the point where i have all 223/223 locations marked as complete, yet i have not received a single 'locations' achievement for any of the planets. All of them have glitched, including this main one.
I have played though the entire campaign solo, with one character, and all the same difficulty. I didn't swap to TVHM or anything like that.
I'm at a lost cause as to what i am supposed to do? How can i get these achievements, it seems unobtainable to me!

Just unlocked Master Of All You Survey's.. did all 223 location in one sitting and still didn't unlock. I did go to the midnight cairns and dropped down off then first ledge and the cheevo unlocked. Hope this helps

I can confirm that this Achievement requires going to all of the locations in one sitting, without quitting out to the main menu. It popped for me as I was finishing exploring the proving grounds.

I sent a ticket about the issue but I also just did it the hard way doing it all in one go. My game never crashed once from start to finish of the main story. I’m playing on Xbox One X and I chose performance for the graphical options. After I was done the base game, I downloaded the DLC and my game has crashed twice so far. Seems DLC related just so people know. Hopefully they fix it because this game is terrible for glitches achievements.

If you rock a 4k tv, drop the settings down to 1080 in the xbox settings. The game seems to run better and help stop crashes.

I think I'm going to try and do a full run now with this knowledge and hopefully get it.

This particular issue is currently being investigated by the developers so I appreciate your patience!
In the meantime, you are able to go back and re-discover those areas in your own single-player game and get the progress to count towards the achievement goal properly. I know it's not ideal, but it is currently the only workaround we have for this issue until it is resolved.

But I think this is wrong cause even in single player the progress seems to get lost when you close the game

Head to sanctuary, turn off revenge of the cartels and mayhem mode then save and quit. Then follow the maps, hitting all the locations in one sitting making sure to NEVER go back to sanctuary. This is how I've gotten these to unlock.

Not fixed. It wasn't even improved upon, everything still gets lost when you close the game. I was expecting at least a half baked patch to stop losing areas all the time, but no progress has been made at all to fix this.

HELP - I tried to do this in one sitting as to not trigger bug, and towards the end, realized I haven't been to a couple locations to discover fast travels (slaughter and Maliwan) - do I have any way to get to these without going to sanctuary?

Can confirm 1 trip to Sanctuary to find last 'Trial' location was fine since I didn't realize I hadn't drop pod'ed to the last one, unlocked for me.

Yeah same here, 3 of the remaining location achievements unlocked, however the achievement for all 223 locations didn't unlock and neither did the achievement for unlocking all other achievements, buggy POS facepalm

Yeah. I think if it's at 223/223 it's still bugged. But if you find them all on like a new character or something it acts like it might work. Haven't confirmed yet.

So this is not confirmed it’s just a theory I came up with since the criteria of the achievement is visit all named locations with DLC and free content released takedown missions I believe these count towards as well i’ve also noticed that the location heck is still coming up as well hopefully this is not preventing it from popping up since you can’t visit it it was part of the timed event

Great news - this popped for me after the update for DLC 4.

Went to Midnight Cairns and it popped, Ultimate Vault Hunter about 30 secs later when I returned to the main menu. Finally...

Weird, I got 27 locations on Nekrotafeyo but the map says it's 32. I can't see where the remaining 5 is supposed to be. Some secret area? If anybody knows please let me know.

Just want to confirm, if you are at 216/223, you need to do the Eridium Proving Ground to get to 222/223.

If you are 222/223, go check all 3 of the Slaughter arenas, Slaughterstar 3000 has it's own "orbital" location not on any planet.

I was stuck at 222/223 came to this forum and couldn't figure it out. I have been playing co-op with my partner so I compared our games. Turns out a location I discovered had bugged and needed discovering again. This was Avies Fort on Pandora and it unlocked the all locations in Pandora achievement but not master of all you suvery. Some reason the previous achievement bugged the location and needed revisiting to rediscover and this poped master of all you survery. Going to the meridian wepon facility did not work for me as stated above for some it did.

I’ve got 223 out of 223 but only the achievement from Promethea and all named locations won’t pop. Did all the circles of slaughter and still nothing. Followed a guide to go to all locations and again nothing. Has someone the same problem or any ideas?

I had all the other location related achievements but not this for some reason. Then one day after the game had updated this just popped when I entered the game.

I did each planet separately in a single run each, but had to re-run every planet again for this achievement as I had quit the game after each one, which was ridiculous. Finally got it to pop without my game crashing in a ~3 hour run. Didn't fight any enemies except for required bosses. This is really frustrating that it hasn't been fixed since the game has been released since Sep 19.

For me, some locations saved and I didn't have to run it again. They were: Meredian Outskirts (Promethea), Floodmoor Basin (Eden-6), Slaughterstar 3000, Desolations Edge (Nekrotafayo), and Athena (hit or miss, sometimes I had to rediscover it), and the Trial maps.

We played through this, checked we got every location, didn't pop, then we did the Eridian Proving grounds, and at the last ground, the location name came up and the trophy popped. Hope this helps some people

Same for me @Scottland1986, I waited 6 months to play this game because I knew there would be bugs and stuff... and now this...

Does anyone know how to place a ticket at gearbox support or can give a link ?

+1 for the PowerPyx guides! I started going for this achievement at 10pm last night, kept my xbox on while I slept then started again today. With a few breaks I finished at about 7pm tonight as my game crashed around 10am this morning and wiped my progress!
If it’s buggy for you, (which is very likely), find a day when you havent got much else to do and have a crack at doing it in one sitting. Whatever you do, dont turn your console off if you’re part way through. Also if you walk into a location and nothing pops up on your screen to say you’ve discovered it, note it down and go back to it later. Following advice on forums and stuff I always made sure to walk through a transition section or use a fast travel station, rather than just fast travelling from my current location. Not sure if that would have made a difference though. Good luck.

As of July 11, 2020. Achievement is bugged but still obtainable. I did all locations in one sitting took approximately 3.5 hrs. Just sprint and run past everything unless it’s a required encounter. If you get “area discovered” vs “now entering” the game thinks this your first time. That’s why as of this writing the only work around is doing it in one sitting.

I received an email from 2K this morning. It states.....

“ I'm just letting you know that we addressed the issue related to exploratory achievements in our most recent patch notes.

Please, apply hotfixes in-game and check whether the issues with the achievements persists!

I have just checked as well by allowing the “hotfix applied” sign to appear behind characters, discovering a location, dash boarding and closing the game completely, allowing the hotfix to reapply and then revisiting the same location to which it states “now entering” appeared”.

As a foot note. This recent “patch/hotfix” has unlocked all areas of the map for me to visit even though I’m only on chapter 5 on the main game. It hasn’t given me all locations “unfortunately” but will let you know how I get on.

Hope this helps all you hunters. Just glad it’s fixed. Going to get this done before the next DLC potentially breaks it again

Two of us had 1 location missing on Eden-6 - so we were going to go down the list 1x1 to hit them all up.

Turns out it was Shankland in The Anvil.

We entered the space it was supposed to be (according to internet maps), ran around, killed dudes, left and came back from all sides. Nothing. I told my buddy it should be here. He walked out of the hallway and came back in walking backwards - BLEEP BLOOP.

I did the same - walking backwards - BLEEP BLOOP.

What a mess of a game.

I was 222/223 with every location unlocked, slaughters achievement unlocked, and trials achievement unlocked.

Checking the stellar map I noticed I had 5/6 trials' areas unlocked, even having "100-Proof" achievement. The areas in the map are as follow:

Ghostlight Beacon (Trial of cunning)
Gradient of Dawn (Trial of survival)
Precipice Anchor (Trial of disipline)
The Hall of Obsidian (Trial of supremacy)
The Skydrowned Pulpit (Trial of fervor)
Wayward Tether (Trial of instinct)

You can't unlock a trial twice, so if you'd beat the trial and the area is not available in your map, you can't get it unlocked by yourself in the same file. I got help from a friend who had the area available, after visiting the area again it was "discovered" and got the achievement.

With the addition of the free content Maliwan Takedown, the achievment popped for me when I first visited Midnight's Cairn. I jumped down the first ledge to begin exploration and it popped.

Thanks for the heads up on Midnight’s Cairn. However, there are 11 locations on that ‘planet’, so you actually need to fight your way through that raid in it’s entirety (or until you trigger all eleven locations) which is frustrating as hell without a squad, and even with a squad.

Chieve popped for me as soon as I dropped in off the first ledge. I havent gone thru Maliwan Takedown as it IS tough, but in my experience it wasnt necessary. It may have changed with an recent update.

I can confirm that this worked for me. I turned off Mayhem, disabled Rise of the Cartels, then followed a map getting all the locations in one sitting. The achievement still didn't pop until I went into Midnight's Cairn, dropped down walked forward until the first location popped up and boom!

This worked! I just grinded for 6 hours, after already discovering everywhere. Honestly, Gearbox should owe everyone a free season pass. The fact so many people have to waste a day to get all the achievements, just because of a glitch from their PAY ME MORE DLC, is a massive joke and slap in the face in 2020. Not buying another Borderlarnds game or DLC until they comepensate.

All these other guides are perfect. My one solution that worked for me, who had every single place discovered was simply this..

Start your game from the dashboard and mash cn_A when it says "Logging in (gamertag)" so you end up hitting continue really fast. Once in game, disregard (say no) to any popup saying to update your game.

Visit all the locations without returning to sanctuary or turning off your game.


Edit:
New information? .. I ran through Eden 6 in various ways. The method above, Offline, normal mode, with/without mayhem, guardian rank on/off... No achievement. I then thought about deleting my profile and redownloading or deleting my cache. To start though, I wanted to try a full system restart just hold cn_guide and select restart console.

Exactly what happened: So with a freshly restarted console I loaded up BL3, logged me in and let it load the patch (Not hitting continue really fast). Pressed contue on my normal difficulty campaign. My character was in Precipice Anchor or something (just not sanctuary). Guardian ranks on, mayhem off.

I ported to the floating tomb and worked my way through using a guide. Kinda knew it off by heart at this point but I digress. I then worked my way up the planet, blackbarrel, ambermire and so forth. I got to the Anvil and hit the last location and bloop! Obviously it may not be in the same location for you but yeah.

TL;DR Try restarting your Xbox with the cn_guide
before doing another run.

Worked like a charm for me after the latest patch. Nekrotafeyo unlocked right away when I started the game. Had some locations missing. Visited only these and every missing location achievement unlocked without a problem.

Yeah. It's not unlocking the final achievement to discover them all for me. I got the achievements for the specific planets, but not the overall one and it shows my locations completed.

Note: I took from the guide listed on the TrueAchievements site, posted by RuneSlayer4421

To get this achievement, you have to visit all of the 223 named Locations in the base game. There are many on each of the five planets plus seven located in space-based locations that are made available after unlocking their side mission.
You can check your progress for this by going to your map. Pressing [R] (on keyboard) or [Left Thumbstick] (on controller) will switch to show the progress details for the current Galaxy/Planet/Zone screen you are looking at.

For each of the planets, PowerPyx has done a pretty good location guide. The following are links to each individual planet's list.

Pandora - 78 Locations (1 in particular is very specific and easily missed, it is noted in the list)

Also, each of the six Trials (and one Slaughter arena) give a new Zone in the galaxy that you need to travel to and walk around until the name pops up on screen. (So don't panic if you don't see the achievement pop after just finishing the planets!)

Note: This achievement has been known to be buggy, but the July 23rd update should have fixed that, including for those that have already unlocked all the Locations. (If you should already have unlocked this, make sure your game is updated then load in and explore at least one area, hopefully that should trigger it to check and unlock)

If you click on While you are looking at the map, you can see the number of completed tasks on the map. I found out by chance after 50 hours of playing.

If you have 217 places out of 223 open all over the world, then 6 of them are Eridian polygons, each planet must be explored, quests are given after completing on different planets (Pandora, Promethea, etc.)

With update 1.15 everything was fixed. There is no need to disconnect from the Internet. If the location was opened, the trophy falls automatically.

As of March 29, 2021, the trophy does not work on PS5. Trophies drop out for planets individually, but this one doesn’t count locations.
UPD. The problem is fixed with the latest patch.

I got the achievement by running through all the locations in one go, including massacres and trials; this method did not work for me before. The Internet was not turned off.

Pay attention to the inscription when moving to the next location, if it says “Area detected,” then you need to go to every point in the current location, and if it says “Move to the area,” then you can safely teleport to the next location.

I came to try it after update 1.15. Achievements for planets have been lost. But for all the planets there is no platinum itself. We are waiting for the next fix (
