How to unlock the Might Beyond Sight achievement in Borderlands 3 - Definitive Guide

I think the following method is the fastest for this achievement. It took me less than 15 minutes.

First off, complete Ava's Mysteriouslier questline. At the end of it, you'll be rewarded with a purple artifact. It allows to see invisible/mysterious Eridium piles that need to be destroyed for this achievement. If, by any case, you got rid of the artifact, the piles can still be destroyed but will be invisible to you. Simply move slowly to spots where mysterious Eridium piles are located and wait for your crosshair to change to (RS) Melee and destroy them.

First off make sure you're on Mayhem 11. Them, travel to Voracious Canopy on Eden-6 and run to the first Ammo Dump vending machine. Turn around and go behind the large plants to find a hole to drop in. At the bottom of it you will find mysterious Eridim piles to break (I found up to 7 a few times). Go in the mayhem menu and select Mayhem 10. It will prompt a reload and spawn you near the Eridium hole. Rinse and repeat.

The following video contains the location:

Mayhem 11 says it has lower bonuses, but actually it has exactly the same bonuses as 10. So swapping between 9 and 10 actually would give you very slightly less eridium.

But yeah awesome solution :D

Good solution! But I have a problem, the achievement does not unlock, I got the in-game pop up saying I smashed 50 mysterious eridium piles, but nothing happens and the achievement tracker never showed any progress. Does anybody have heard of a solution to this? I tried to recync data with cold reset and deleting local saves, didn't do anything.

EDIT Finally it's kind of unlocked on xbox.com and here on TA, but for some reason it hasn't updated on my series X. Will probably update one day...

I unlocked this today after finally getting bored enough to return to the game and had the same problem as snoop my in game tracker popped but achievment didn't so I figured it was a bug like gears 4 achievemens do so I checked compare games with someone else that I knew played bl3 and the achievement unlocked as soon as it went to compare screen sometimes going to official club then progress has unlocked buggy achievements but great guide barely took 10 minutes to get 50

Great guide. The only thing I'd change is to flip back and forth between Mayhem level 10 and Mayhem level 9. It doesn't affect this specific achievement, but it will increase the amount of Eridium you'll get as there are no bonuses on Mayhem level 11.

EDIT: An even better way lets you keep it on Mayhem 10. Bring up the Mayhem screen & just press "X". That will reroll the modifers, then just "Apply" as normal & it'll reload with you still having the max bonuses.

So I initially thought this was bugged, but while using a farming video for Eridium deposits, I noticed I kept bumping into invisible Eridium deposits. I thought this was just a texture bug, but no! These are what count towards the achievement. I'm pretty sure you can see them using the Rogue-Sight Pistol you get from the storyline but I didn't have it anymore (if anyone wants to confirm, I'll give them credit).

NOTE: The amulet you get at the end of Ava's Murder Mystery questline allows you to see the invisible eridium deposits! Thanks to Argoff and monityvanroe in the comments.

Updated 8/25/2022 farming method
BARTLEBEE has suggested in the comments that Voracious Canopy on the planet Eden-6 is a much faster method of finding these Eridium deposits. I went ahead and found a video that shows how to do this efficiently, getting you the deposits much faster than my older method. The video mentions to quit and reloaded, but it’s actually faster to change your Mayhem level to reload the zone.

Old Method:

You can track this achievement through its in-game challenge of the same name by zooming out of the fast travel menu and going to challenges. Filter it to "other" and check the progress under "Director's Cut".

I think when you quit out you only spawn near the auto-save/respawn stations. I don’t think there’s one at either of those areas. And I did the quest line first and didn’t get an item that lets me see the deposits.

So do you need to not have the amulet on for it to count and they must be invisible? or does it also count if you see them with the amulet on?

So I'm fairly certain that I sold the amulet if it was equippable, as I just mass sold all the crap after that mission. Anyway to get it back?

Also, the Carnivora location has 3 and is rather a pain to get to 27 times. Has anyone located a better spawn place yet?

I also recommend before heading out to the Eridium Pledge Drive area, take the elevator back down to the Tink area and do a quick lap around. I have found 1 or 2 hidden ones in there as well. Only takes 30 seconds or so.

Best place I've found is on the grand opening section of the handsome jackpot dlc. A run from the start to the end netted me about 15, play it on 0 mayhem and just run through. Also open the VIP doors as they are in there. Mostly find the eridium canisters and are in either 1/2/3

One thing that helped me go a little faster using the Eden-6 farm was instead of saving and quitting, after hitting the respawn point re-roll the mayhem mods and it'll refresh the map, respawning the piles and still keeping me at the spot up above on spawning in

That’s really weird. I’m seeing in other comment sections that there are ones that don’t sparkle and those don’t count. I’m not entirely sure because I broke them while they were invisible. I’m assuming you own the dlc and such so that’s the only other thing I can think of to why you wouldn’t have the challenge. Are you at 0% for the achievement?

I didn’t have the challenge nor was my tracker showing any progress. But just a note like others have said. Once you get to that checkpoint and restart head back down to the tinks as there’s a few invisible deposits in there sometimes as well as near the catch a ride before you hit the iridium deposit location

Quicker to spawn in the Guts and exit to the desert maybe? Theres a catch a ride right there and you're close to the spot there anyway.

Maybe we get something in Ava's quests to spot them but haven't done those yet.

I think wearing the amulet might make this more confusing. My understanding is that room has a chance to spawn invisible piles AND regular piles. So if you can see them all with the amulet, you won't really know which ones were intended to BE invisible. Not the end of the world but just a heads up to either pay attention to the tracker OR just keep smashing til it unlocks.

Nevermind. The "invisible" ones appear differently on-screen when wearing the amulet.

You technically don't need the amulet, as the rocks are still there, so if you know where some spawn you can still farm them. I didn't know what the amulet did until I had the achievement. laugh

I prefer using the Voracious Canopy on Eden-6 to grind through the hidden Eridium except not exactly as described by Killarpong. Instead of back tracking like he does to reset my spawn point, I continue to climb up the wall. At the top in front of you is the Science Outpost. Run inside and quit/save. You spawn outside the Science Outpost and only need to drop down into the Eridium area and climb back out. On respawning the Eridium area is a quarter turn to your left. I like this as it's a shorter run and you also have the option of killing the boss King Bobo who is just inside the Science Output. If you only want to grind Eridium ignore him and quit/respawn but if you want extra XP kill him while there. No real science tracking for this area but I'd say it was something like 40% of the time two hidden Eridium were found, 40% three, 15% one, and 5% 4 found.
While in the Science Output I've had some luck getting 1 more hidden Eridium (once in this spot 2 were here). I'd say it's a 50/50 chance to find hidden Eridium. I've always found it in the far back right area - behind the house in the further back right section. There is a yard/field behind the house and the edge of map (cliff). One can sometimes be next to the wall on the left before the cliff or eye shot of the same spot but right behind the same house. You'll understand the spot cause if hidden Eridium is not here then a majority of time normal Eridium will be in same spot. Sometimes none of either but usually one or the other Eridium type is here. Note that I did tour the Science Output a bit thinking hidden Eridium would always be found somewhere in this section but, at least for me, if it wasn't in either spot behind the house there was none in the Science Output.

The challenge didn't show for me on the Galaxy Map, even after I completed it and got the onscreen popup for 50 piles. I also had 0 shiny piles show up for me relatively often too, so it took a bit longer... but to make the most of it, theres a neat trick.

If you're after Eridium, instead of using the Mysterious Amulet, equip an artifact with the "Stone" prefix (ie, Cryo Stone Static Charge). For some reason, this artifact will double the amount of Eridium you get out of smashing a pile. It doesn't need to be a Legendary, just so long as it has the "Stone" prefix.

With this location, moreso than the others, the shed always contains 3 piles making it super easy to find them without equipping the Mysterious Amulet, just look for when the crosshair changes to the Melee (RS) icon.

Handsome Jack DLC - Grand Opening

There are 4 Eridium locations at the start of the mission. Each can have 0-3 'mysterious' Eridium deposits.

Follow the route in my video, quit and reload from starting checkpoint. Takes about 10-15 mins to unlock this.

Make sure you have the Amulet for completing all the mystery murder missions equipped before attempting this.

Great guide. Another tip to make it even faster is to just toggle mayhem mode on/off and hit apply to force a reload instead of going to the main menu and then back in.

The toggle mayhem on the level helps alot, way faster than the quit/load or sanctuary and back. (Even on XSX)
Note: may take longer than 10-15 minutes, took me around 35-40mins because of the 1 or 0 per reload

I will add in case it’s not obvious (because it wasn’t for me at first), run mayhem 11.
The eridium drops are higher on higher mayhem levels. The dropped “value” doesn’t count for the achievement, but at least you’re maximising your earning while doing this.
And not sure if it was a placebo or not, but moment I switched to a higher mayhem, seemed to increase the amount of canisters that spawned as “mysterious” each run. Managed to reliably get 2-3 every run.
So yeah, just alternate between 10/11 to trigger respawns.

This run seems to have been nerfed, was only finding 4 sometimes even 3. I can also confirm that only the ones sparkling count.

Hi All,

In this video we show you how to farm for the "Might Beyond Sight" Achievement,
that is part of the Director's Cut DLC.

The Achievement requires you to destroy 50 Eridium Piles that are invisible.

I borrowed a lot of tips from everyone here.

Here is the fast solution.

You must:

Have the pendant acquired from the podcast dlc. Equip it.
Have the handsome Jack casino dlc.

Go to the handsome Jack dlc entrance room and check 4 eridium canister locations and reset the mayhem level each run to reset the “special” eridium piles. Bust every “sparkling” pile. Here is me busting a couple “sparkling piles” and reloading.

Here is the video:

(FIND 50 HIDDEN ERIDIUM CACHES)

At the end of the 4th Ava murder quest in the 2nd season pass, you get a cool new trinket.

-Most areas seem to have eridium spawns. These are little jars you hit to get a few eridium. They are usually standing by a wall, not in the middle of the open.

- Every map reload, a chunk of these spawn, the rest remain hidden.

- The artifact you got allows you to see the hidden ones. They have a little sparkle on them.

- Achievement requires you to hit 50 of these with the sparkles. not the ones without.

- A good spot I found to farm was the first area of the Jackpot DLC (1). Find the spawns, hit the sparkly ones, reload.

GLITCHED

Notes:

- You can track your progress towards this trophy by going: :touchpad: => Map => Press :triangle: x2 => press :right: to highlight the Challenges tab => Press :square: x4 => Scroll down with  until you reach the Director's Cut Challenges section and the "Might Beyond Sight" Challenge.

- This trophy can glitch sometimes and refuse to pop, therefore you should backup your saves before smashing the final few piles so you have a fail safe in case something goes wrong.

This is easily the most annoying trophy in the entire game, because the "mysterious" Eridium piles are invisible and can't be seen unless you have the Artifact equipped that you get from the end of Ava's storyline in this DLC. Fortunately, Fooga has discovered a reliable farming point for them at a particular spot in the Carnivora map on Pandora (see below for the exact spot):

Dr9FLZsvQn2PF6uWPxt7nBfbMdH7lzliy15naBDXY1nPnxWkp1rd33-SV8rVKIjkyrkGJMJukxiql0Ky9idGnqfBApn_CXpofWAjksESIB1lwktcaxTbegdqwR5WmjWv51SrDq85

For this trick to work, you need to trigger the save point at the top of the lift that brings you to the surface (you will come here during the main campaign so it's hard to miss). Once you're top-side, spawn a vehicle and head over to the spot indicated above then enter the room and approach the sparkling Eridium piles. There will be anywhere from 1-3 Eridium piles at any given time:

iLrQPvHjhwO-bdFkMNa1SLx1O3lx268P9u-RK4rVcDdvQiW_uqYj5kTB3Zwig0AlJbL7T1EEkLG3Cl_bMM6YzgDeW8RVWFy24DayhxwNLm8TqkPTcQLvQ4rkFHWZlj4R-mBbOjXk

Now press the Melee button (:r3: in my case) on each one when the prompt appears, then save, quit, reload - rinse and repeat until the trophy pops. See below for a video of this method. Credit to Griffins Gaming Guides for the video:

Killarpong has found an alternate farming spot in the Voracious Canopy map so please see their video below for more details:

So for anyone still trying to get this Achievement since Pandora Box was on sale I can confirm as an achievement hunter that ONLY THE INVISIBLE ERIDIUM COUNTS TOWARDS THE ACHIEVEMENT/CHALLENGE the visible ones will not count. Yes you can use amulet or rouge sight to see them but if you sold them like I did. You can still hit the invisible ones without amulet/sight. Also Viscous Canopy in Eden-6 is probably the best way to get the cheevo🤘

You can see the mysterious piles when you complete Ava's quest from the DLC.
You can search for them yourself around the world or you can forget them like this:
We find these piles of eridium, take them and then leave the game.
We load back, come to the same place, and the piles will appear again in the same place.
We do it until we win. Progress can be viewed on the galaxy map in the Achievements of this DLC.

To speed up collection, I recommend turning on chaos level 10, this way you will collect the required amount of eridium twice as quickly
P/s Incorrect information, you need 50 piles, not 50 pieces of eridium from them.

Place for farming: Eden-6 location Gluttonous Canopy in the cave with the dead Claptrap there are always 4-5 piles of mysterious eridium.
