How to unlock the Treat Yo Self achievement in Borderlands 3 - Definitive Guide

THE FASTEST WAY TO DO THIS. TAKES ABOUT LESS THAN AN HOUR.
I started out trying to fill USE all the extractors (3 on the surface which can only do 3 items each and just once, and 1 down below which can do 5) and one run with all the killing and running around took like over 30 minutes so it would have taken over 4 hours to do this this way.
Instead do this. activate the green teleport orb (as it is counting down just go and stand where it appears that way you instantly teleport). Once you teleport and are falling look down and see where the items box is where you land and spin so you are facing it when you land. Open it and grab those 4 items usually 2 guns and 2 shields. Now open you map up and find the closest extractor to you and now run to it ignoring all the enemy spawns just run past them, I never died or got put down once ever doing this method. Once you get there put in 3 items and extract them (just spam the A-button). Now run over to one of the enemies and have him kill you, their melee attack is pretty powerful usually just 3 to 4 hits to put you down, now press X-button to kill yourself fast and you will reappear in the control. Now just rinse and repeat. I was extracting 3 items each time in less the 2 minutes SO DO THE MATH. You occasionally get lucky and an extractor is close to your drop location but usually it is a bit of run. HOPE THIS HELPS.
Oh VERY IMPORTANT the items that you extract are placed in your safe on Sanctuary (I initially thought they were moved to the control room where you teleport from so you could gear up before teleport I was wrong). As such there has to be room in the safe for these 100 items so if your safe is full or almost full it will only extract items till the safe is full then all extractions will STOP, so make room for 100 in your safe. If you are playing multiple characters then have them move items into their backpacks (maxed out backpack will fit 50 items) so you do not lose anything. Once you are done just sell all those white items at Marcus's and put your items back in the safe.

Bunny Breakfast comment. This only works for SINGLE PLAYER seems COOP does not help for this. Thanks

+1 by far the fastest way to get this garbage done.

You can also buy more back space at Marcus's. It gets expensive, but each SDU gives 20, and you can buy a LOT of them.

do not be player 2, there is no benefit. You don't make progress, and you don't help your host either

You. You saved my life. I thought I was gonna play for days and kill the boss over and over. But this was quick and fun.

FYI if your achievement tracker doesn't give progress don't worry. use the ingame tracker (Map > Right Dpad). mine cheevo tracker never progressed but i popped right on 100 via the ingame tracker.

One minor tip I'd give. Once you land, I'd grab two guns and a shield, leaving one shield. That way, after you extract you won't have a shield equipped when trying to die from the enemies.

drop down, get your 1st base 4 items, find closest delivery box, rush there, deliver, die, repeat.
this was the fastest method for me.

This achievement really isn't as bad as it may seem, just slightly grindy. Through out the Stormblind Complex, you will find 'Gear Extractor' machines (On the map the symbol for them is just a Arrow pointing up in a diamond). Each one of the machines, you can extract a handful of gear at a time (3 slots in machines found round randomly the map, and 5 at the final machine once you finished the Arms Race), and since there is 4 machines each run of the Arms Race, you can get around 9-14 weapons per run if you're lucky.

Main thing to focus on when jumping into an Arms Race is finding gear, you can get gear from killing enemies (melee does a fair amount of damage) or by looting chest containers. There will always be a chest close to you when you drop in that will have gear, so make sure you loot it to make going to other extractors/getting loot easier for yourself. It does not matter what rarity of the weapon it is for the achievement, all you have to do is place the gear into a machine around the map, place the gear into the machines, press the 'Extract' button in which you'll get a prompt confirming the extraction. Once you press 'Yes' for the extraction the the gear will be extracted so meaning even if you do die, that gear will still be extracted and adds to the achievement total.

To make this go as quickly as possible, it's suggested that you kill yourself as once you finished the Arms Race, you will need to either back out to main menu and come back into the game, or fast travel elsewhere then travel back into the Stormblind Complex to restart the arms race. If you die before you complete the arms race, you will respawn at the start of the Arms Race with all your gear gone that you had in your inventory (any placed into extraction machines will be extracted still). So once you're happy that you've extracted enough weapons into as many extraction machines as you can, just let an enemy kill you or find a way to kill yourself and repeat the process until you have extracted 100 pieces of gear for the achievement! If you're using this strategy you should be able to get up to 9 pieces of gear each run. You do not lose any money when dying in Arms Race so no need to worry about losing money with the dying stratergy.

Alternatively if you do complete the arms race, there is a Extraction machine right by the Fast Travel Machine in the room behind the boss which will have 5 slots, and if you manage to use all 4 machine in one run of Arms Race you'll be able to extract 14 weapons at once. This 'may' be a quicker strategy on Series S/X with the faster loading times, regardless killing yourself saves you the job of fast traveling away and coming back after each run.

*NOTE* Make sure you have space in your Bank. All gear extracted from Arms Race goes directly into your Bank, and once your bank is full of weapons, you will be unable to extract any weapons until you make space in your bank.

*NOTE 2* Few people have reported that the amount of gear isn't tracking when playing with others. For the best chance at the achievement, it's recommended that you play SOLO (or very least host) in order for the gear to be calculated correctly.

I hope this guide is helpful, will be updating the guide so please let me know if I should change/add stuff into this guide :)

Borderlands 3 doesn't have tracking connected to the achievements. It should still unlock once you have collected 100 gear via extraction.

You can track your progress in-game by checking the "Challenges" tab of the Stormblind Complex map. At the same place where secondary objectives were listed in previous DLCs.

Do you lose 10% of your cash if you die over and over, or does this not happen in Arms Race? If so, killing yourself over and over seems to be a risky idea.

@NoHeroes94 - You don't take your money from the game with you into Arms Race and it resets back to 0 each retry.

I still need about 50 more extractions if anyone wants to team up. Send me a Xbox message.

I just spawned, grabbed 2 weapons and a shield, ran to an Extractor, and then killed myself to repeat it all over again. Actually fighting the boss took way too long for my liking.

Anyone else having issues with this not tracking in the challenge menu? Mine is still sitting at 8/100 and I know I’ve gotten at least 20.

If others also complain about the tracking not going up in Co op then i'll add it to the guide, Borderlands 3 is buggy a good portion of the time anyway

My friend and I are playing it in Coop. It's only tracking my extractions and not his (I'm host). Also half the machines are "depleted" for him when we get to them, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

When you die, you can just go back to the console. No need to leave and return.

Achievement stopped tracking for me (showed 0/100 even though TA said 24% done), but if you check map and go to challenges, one of them is the 100 extractions. Once I completed that, achievement unlocked normally.

Idk if it’s like it for anyone else

But when trying to play BL3 on my Series X it says designer & directors cuts aren’t supported and reverts my skill-tree.

Luckily I still have my old XB1 to play on..

What I did was checked the area when I spawned in to see if extractors were near by, if not I just went straight for the boss. He's easy enough even with bad gear. Each run I was getting between 5 and 11 extractions. +1 for killing yourself it's much faster than fast travel.

The best way to do this is to drop in straight down because, as the guide says, there is always a chest close by with 2 guns and 2 shields in it. Then open your map, find the nearest extractor, run to it to extract three items, and finally just die. Rinse and repeat. Took me a little over an hour.

Also two small tips. When you reach the extractor you can just slam the A button and it will extract your items very quickly. Also you can check your progress by looking at the map and looking at the challenge section.

- @HoggyBear08 I'm on series x works fine for me. Make sure you have the addon properly installed maybe?
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Some tips I have;
You can ground pound to fall quicker too cut some time off the overall time of grinding this.
If you get pretty familiar with where you drop most of the locations you can remember where to go quicker.
I ground pound(while making sure I land facing the chest) opened the chest, quickly open map and place a marker to the nearest location.

Did this in ~40 minutes.

In my video, I can show you the fastest and easiest way to get this achievement.
I believe that it could take you around 1 hour to complete.
Just make sure you have the room in your bank.

Thanks

This might seem fairly obvious to some but If you don't care about the loot, the most guns per hour isn't completing the match.

Simply grab your starting chest,
Sprint to the nearest extraction point,
Open it by hitting cn_X
Then just mash cn_A to throw them in,
Die,
Repeat.

You can maybe get 2 if they're close by, but you'll learn which are easy before the half way point.

Notes:

- This trophy won't unlock in Co-Op if you're Player 2 so to avoid wasting time, make sure you do it solo (credit to Kfree7 for this info).
- You can track your progress towards this trophy whilst in the Snowblind Complex by going: :touchpad: => Map => Press :right: to highlight the Challenges tab => Scroll down with  until you reach the "Treat Yo Self" challenge.
- Before attempting this trophy, you will need 100+ slots free in your bank so make sure you upgrade it ASAP.

To extract your gear, you need to use the Gear Extractors but each one only has between 3 and 5 slots and will be rendered inoperable once each slot has been used. They look like this on the map:

8wdddfxu7UKPX0teBsJgGYprsu3gRn4Ead7mWtSXcxt4eXKXVFYyGovyqMuUEIZo1IwIRi4cOaibIGMVjoIuk1NAwkZJA2KAM2XC2K2xsMV8a625ifTf1B3FD1zdvSpnQts0ViyV

...and this is what one looks like in person:

WZi2Ln_ZpyXzE9QNQsZd3IZEkppb_OwyztF_sbWsCgcxqZVEOEDfbZK6xmX5ojNbrTTzyU-Nzw_ebkA3WVSgPaJ_kYJ7zzvYQS8h0q_q8arfuYlpxNwFRmY328PITnl4bPJ9lTmO

To use a Gear Extractor, walk up to it and press :square:. Once in the menu, press :cross: then :cross: again on the item you want to extract. Rinse and repeat until all the slots are full, then scroll down to the "Extract" button and press :cross: on it. Do note though, that the game doesn't pause whilst you are using a Gear Extractor so make sure the area is clear before using one. Also note that with the exception of the one in the boss arena, the location of all Gear Extractors is random so won't be in the same place twice. The best Gear Extractor to use IMO is the one in the boss arena, because it has 5 slots compared to 3 in all the others. Note: It will take you a minimum of 30 rounds to get this trophy, providing you manage to extract something to most or all of the Gear Extractors (of which there are 4 or 5) in each round.

Killarpong has found a way of farming of this trophy so see their video below:

Like teleporting to a location in battle, we look around and find a box with weapons

There are 4 extractors on the map. 3 in the arena + after the boss. In the arena you can extract 3 units at a time, after the boss 5 units.
In my opinion, the fastest way is to run to one extractor and hand over your starting weapon and then die. This race takes about 2 minutes.
I also tried using 2 extractors in the arena - it takes longer, since you still have to shoot yourself a weapon and run from one extractor to the other.
The longest: shoot the weapon and use 2 extractors in the arena and run to the boss. After killing the boss, we get legendaries and extract 5 more units (in total, you can take out 11 weapons per round) - but this will take about 20-30 minutes (maybe more). It all depends on how quickly the weapon is filled to be extracted, how far the extractors are from each other and how quickly you kill the boss.

I tried all three options and the option of fast runs with starting weapons worked better for me

Progress only counts for the host if you are playing with a friend/matchmaking and sometimes the extractor is "exhausted" immediately
