How to unlock the The Collector achievement in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

You are givin these missions by TANNIS at Tartarus Station.

Are You From These Parts?
The first one asks you to collect 6 Claptrap parts, these are marked.

Fight For Your Right To Part-E
The next mission asks you to obtain 42 parts,

Parts Is Parts
The next mission asks you to obtain 75 parts,

We All Have Our Part To Play
The next mission asks you to obtain 100 parts,

A Part Of Something Larger Than Yourself
The final mission asks you to obtain 150 parts.

These parts can be farmed in the Hyperion Dump, North of where you obtain the quests. You can farm these parts by killing claptraps that spawn in the dump. When you run out of claptraps, save and exit and start again in the area as all the claptraps will spawn again. It’s a grind and one of the worst mission series in the game.. :/

If you have modded stuff, read this:
The quickest way to farm kills is to go to the final boss of Tartarus Station and shoot the claptraps that come out of the MINAC as they’re coming out.
Got 150 part with some other collectibles in 10 min (from Tannis to Tannis)

i think it takes only 3 runs as there is another spawnpoint for claptraps in the far southeast part of the map where you might obtain 12-14 parts

Can you get this achievement if you import your character from the 360 version?

My understanding is yes, only if you haven’t completed parts of the mission series already - I’m not speaking from experience as I played with a new character. However I couldn’t get Paid in New Haven or Made in Fyrestone because I had completed parts of that achievement with my imported character. But I could be wrong about this one.

I imported my character and this achievement didn't pop as I had already completed it. Unlike all 5 Zombie Island achievements which did pop just for loading my imported character as well as the collectors achievements for this DLC.

If you import a character, you have to hit certain triggers for some achievements' progress to be recognized. If you've already done this one, you might have to start the DLC over. Fortunately, my imported character was already 50% of the way through the last mission so it's not that bad.

I didn't find this one too bad, you get ~40 items on each run through Hyperion Dump, and by the time I finished the Claptrap campaign all I had left was the 150 part mission. So ~3-4 runs & I was at 150.

I confirm what Pedle Zelnip said on the spot that Apache117X mentions in his guide.

You will net about 40 claptrap parts per run of this area. My first run through got me 39, the next 2 runs got me 41 each, and the 4th run finished off the 150 needed with a number of claptraps still running around.

It should also be noted that sometimes a claptrap does not drop a part. It's not often, but I watched a few drop a gun but no part.

You will unlock this achievement for completing a series of four missions given to you by Patricia Tannis. The missions; 'Fight For Your Right To Part-E', 'Parts is Parts', We All Have Our Part To Play' and 'A Part Of Something Larger Than Yourself' task you with collecting 42, 75, 100 and 150 'Clapt-Components', respectively.

These missions will direct you to a specific location and this location is the best place to farm the 'Clap-Components', though you can only get around 40-45 each time. So the first mission can be done in one sitting, however to grind out the next three missions you will want to go to this same area, kill all of the Claptrap enemies and collect as many 'Clap-Components' as you can, then quit to the main menu and load your game back up and run back to the location to farm more. Then repeat as necessary.

Note that the enemies you kill here will also have a chance to drop the collectibles for the four achievements; "The Lubricator", "Bobble-trap", "It's so realistic!" and "What a party!" so you may want to hold off attempting to grind those out until you are playing the four missions for this achievement to cut down on unnecessary grinding.

The "crazy request" refers to the four missions that Tannis will give you, each requiring you to collect a certain number of Claptrap parts. Every time you kill an enemy Claptrap, they will drop either some Gears, Wires or a Motherboard. You'll need to collect these in order to complete the mission, however it does not matter how many of each item you have. As long as your collection totals the required number, then you will be fine. The missions are as follows:

Mission 1: Collect 42 Claptrap parts.
Mission 2: Collect 75 Claptrap parts.
Mission 3: Collect 100 Claptrap parts.
Mission 4: Collect 150 Claptrap parts.

Please note that once you have reached the required number of parts, any additional items you find - won't not carry over into the next mission. Therefore, it is best to turn in the mission as soon as possible once you have met the requirements.

Requests to collect spare parts for Tannis must be completed.
I recommend completing these quests in parallel with the main task.
So that after farming collectibles on the boss, you don’t have to farm the spare again. parts
