How to unlock the Braaaaaaaaaaaaains! achievement in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

Hey fellow hunters, in order to obtain this achievement you need to go the Zombie DLC at Jakobs Cove. Once there, proceed to Hallow's End. (My Current Position on the map)
External image

Once in Hallow's End proceed to the beacon I have placed down and DO NOT PICK UP any brains until after the mission starts this will save time as they do not de-spawn.
External image

Once you are in the area you will see a Fyrestone Sign on a building, head towards this building. The questline will start right after a short cinematic.
The quest itself has multiple stages in which you will have to collect brains.
The number collected goes from 10 -> 25 -> 50 -> 100 -> 250. You will have to collect a total of 435 brains so I strongly urge to do side missions whilst doing this in the background.

****TIPS****
For stage 1 and 2, I would recommend finishing those why you are there.
For 50 Brains, I would recommend going back to Jacobs Cove and cleaning the area while doing other side missions.
For 100 Brains I recommend going to Generally Hospital then back to Hallow's End.
For 250 Brains, I strongly urge going to the lumber yard as you can normally get 100+ brains here. Once you get to the part where it turns into another enemy type, either exit the game and repeat the grind in lumber yard then heading towards Hallow's End or turning around and heading to another area.

I'd like to point out that achieving Critical headshot kills nets you a guaranteed brain. I'm 41 now and the zombies are starting at 35, so it only takes a bullet or two. This will make farming them faster.

Make sure to hand in at every step. Brains get totally wasted otherwise.

Is this achievement mistakenly flagged Cumulative+? To my understanding, that would mean it's a total number collected, Vs a cumulative- which would suggest they need to be held at once at each stage of the quest?

Great tip on not picking up the brains before you get the quest. I would have naturally just grabbed them as I went along. Really helped!

Thanks for this.

I somehow missed this mission and ended up playing through the rest of the DLC, picking up brains anyway, expecting them to be used for something.

It's too bad they don't retroactively count, but thanks to your guide I got this done in under an hour.

Can't comment on the solution by @GuyPandemonium in the above for locations but his map is good … but by "proceed to the beacon I placed" he means "go to the location of the cursor", which is the small, solid yellow cursor arrow in the bottom left … not the starburst yellow shape in the center.

The only thing I can mention, and it's pretty important is that you get brains from enemies by making headshots. I feel stupid for missing this earlier in the game but I'd plow down dozens of zombies and pick up a few brains and look for more. Once I made the connection, getting 50 in any map was simple.

Suggestions for weapons are scoped revolvers (they tend to pack enough kick to kill in one shot) and sniper rifles. Revolvers are generally faster so ones with a scope (or high accuracy if you're confident with iron sights) and high capacity mags are good bets.

Quest giver: Zombie TK Baha
Location: Southwestern corner of Hallow's End

You get this trophy from completing the final of five quests he gives. All of them are collecting brains for him to eat. First quest you need 10, second you need 25, third is 50, fourth is 100, final is 250.

You acquire brains from zombies by killing them with a headshot. Brains only count towards quest completion if they are picked up AFTER the quest has started, so make sure you go turn it in and get the next part before you continue so you get credit.

There's plenty of zombies around so as long as you are concentrating on getting those headshots, you should complete this easily.

I used an assault rifle. Highly recommend assault rifle, SMG, or any gun that has a good fire rate with decent damage and accuracy. Avoid elemental weapons, since any damage that does the final tick of health that is NOT a headshot will not drop a brain.

This achievement is unlocked for completing a series of side missions called; 'Brains', 'Braaains', 'Braaaaains', 'Braaaaaaaaaaaains' and 'Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains'. These are all for collecting zombie brains that drop from zombie enemies that you kill with a critical or head shot. You have to pick up this mission yourself by heading to 'Hallow's End' Via 'Jakobs Cove' and go to the building shown on the map below. Inside the building you will find the now undead T.K. Baha and speaking to him will give you the first of these missions.

Note that the brains you collect from defeated enemies will only be counted after acquiring these missions so any you pick up beforehand will not count. You are then advised to acquire this mission as soon as possible and work on it as you play the DLC as the amounts of brains you need are 10, 25, 50, 100 and 250 and can prove a grind if you still need to collect them after completing the DLC.

Missions involved in this trophy:

  • TK Lives!
  • Brains (Collect 10 Brains)
  • Braaains (Collect 25 Brains)
  • Braaaaains (Collect 50 Brains)
  • Braaaaaaaaaaaains (Collect 100 Brains)
  • Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains (Collect 250 Brains)

WARNING:

Do not start work on this trophy then change playthroughs, else you will wipe your progress towards it and have to start again.

Note: You don't get any brains from bosses, Corpse Eaters, Skelerakks, WereSkags, Loot Goons or Badass Tankensteins.

To start this trophy you need to accept the mission "TK Lives", which is found here:

"TK Lives" is an unmarked mission that doesn't appear on the Bounty Board. Press on TK's Leg to accept this mission. All you have to do is go through the door and approach TK, press on him to Turn In the mission and receive the mission "Brains".

To get a brain, you have to blast it out of a Zombie's head. The best weapons for this are the Shotgun and SMG as you can aim in the rough vicinity of a Zombie's head and the shot(s) will send the brain flying. Sniper Rifles can have the same effect but Zombies move in an erratic way which makes aiming difficult. Any brains that appear will stay put until collected but any you collect after "Turn In" appears for your current brain collection mission will not count towards the next one. Similarly any brains you collect prior to starting the first mission will not count, thus we recommend you leave every brain that drops on your way to that mission and pick them up later. Once you've collected enough brains to satisfy the current mission, stop collecting! If you farm the area near TK's hut then you can get "Brains" and "Braaains" done quickly. After Turning In a brain collection mission, wait a few seconds before moving onto the next one as TK may puke up some loot for you.

Providing you kill every Zombie you meet, then you can get this trophy done just after or just before killing the final boss. The trophy won't pop until you Turn In the mission "Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaains".

The mission is not given according to the plot and is not indicated on the map. It can be found in the south of the Hollows end location (a peninsula in the shape of an appendix). When you approach it, you will be shown a small cutscene.
PS. It is better to take this mission immediately after opening the location. Otherwise, beating the brains out of 400 zombies will be oh so boring.

In order for the brain to fall out, you need to shoot in the head.

When playing with two people via splitscreen, looting the 1st brain counted as 2 in the quest, that is, it was necessary to kill 2 times less zombies.

I don’t know if this works when just playing online or not, but it definitely works in splitscreen.

The task takes place in five stages:
1. Collect 10 brains.
2. Collect 25 brains.
3. Collect 50 brains.
4. Collect 100 brains.
5. Collect 250 brains.
