How to unlock the Ding! Overleveled to 11 achievement in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

Best thing to do is go to Eridian Promontory after you have killed the Destroyer in playthrough 2. After you have finished this part of the game, you will enter something fans have called "playthrough 2.5". Where in the first playthrough the enemies (besides Crawmerax) never level any higher than level 37/38 or that area, in PT 2.5 enemies level along with you.

At Eridian Promontory you meet not only the Eridians, they also grant a LOT of XP, going anywhere from +8000 up to 20.000 XP per kill, which will make it a breeze to get to level 61 within less than an hour from level 50 with good gear and (at least for Mordecai) investing in the "Tresspass" skill, which allows you to tresspass shields, making it even easier.
Also a great place besides the Rakk Hive to improve on your gun proficiency too.

(To help you a bit more, a sniper like the Skull Masher or a repeater like the Rebel with a pistol class mod with at least ammo regeneration and the Eridians drop dead like flies)

Unlocked for reaching level 61.

This achievement will take some time and you will need to play the DLCs on your second playthrough to be sure enemies are high enough level to give you worthwhile XP. The best way I found to grind levels out however was to farm 'Crawmerax the Invincible', using the method detailed in the description for "Vincible". The XP you gain for a successful kill is the largest you will acquire for any action in the game.

To farm Crawmerax, load the game and head to its lair. When there, kill it using the glitch method already detailed, or however you choose to defeat it. Then quit to the main menu, load your game back up again to find yourself in T-Bone Junction and go back to its lair to find it back alive and kill it again. You can repeat this as many times as you need/wish. This is also a very good way to farm powerful 'Legendary' weapons if you should want to, however they aren't necessary for any achievements.

However you choose to do it, reach level 61 for this achievement.

You need a total of 5,985,087 XP to hit level 61 (though Lv69 is the level cap). This is easiest done on Playthrough 2 (available after you beat the base game once) or 2.5 (after you beat it twice), which increases the enemy levels and experience from killing them) but it's possible to get both of these trophies in Playthrough 1 if you either cheat or power level. See Ding! Champion (main game trophy) for more info on the various methods and exploits for levelling up fast.

Specials by class:

  • If you and/or your party are soldier(s), equip the Soldier Class Mod "Leader", which can give up to 25% Bonus TEAM Experience! If you have a party of four soldier's with the 25% bonus each, that is double EXP for everyone.
  • Siren: The INTUITION skill can give you up to 20% bonus (reset skills option at New-U stations).
  • Hunter: The SMIRK skill can give you up to 15% bonus (reset skills option at New-U stations).
  • Tank: N/A

If you play as a hunter, then there is a very quick way to level up for him.

Download the last skill in the left branch - which allows you to break through the shield with a 100% chance
Go through the plot of the second playthrough with killing the last boss, after which you replay the location before the boss, constantly leaving the game to kill enemies.
In this location there are only aliens who have little HP but a huge shield. You will penetrate it with 1-2 shots. + for aliens they give a lot of experience compared to other enemies.
The level of aliens will always adapt to you, so they will also level up along with you, which allows you to maintain the pace of leveling.
1 full clearing of a location gives 2-3 lvl. So I fell from 50 to 69
