How to unlock the Fully Loaded achievement in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition - Definitive Guide

Also here is a video guide

Original guide by Our Afflictions

It may be important to note, you must apply the backpack upgrades manually to unlock this.

Sledges Safehouse

He is hard to miss, fighting your way through the safe house, he is in the North West part of the map, right near some rubble, and close to a stairwell, listen for his moaning.

His repair kit is above you, when you are standing on the waypoint.

Lost Cave

The Claptrap in the lost cave is at the point where there is a T intersection where the bandit outpost area is. (looking at the outpost as you enter) Where one path (left) leads to a dead end and the other path (right) leads to the spiral area.

The repair box is up the hill (following the rail tracks up and around) and just behind the second or third building in some pipes.

New Haven

In town, right next to the bounty board. Self explanatory.

Crazy Earl's Scrapyard

When you enter the zone, take your left at the T (the maps right)
Fight your way through bandits and you will see him amongst the camps.

The repair kit is easy as well, just jump on the washing machine to get onto the platform, kill the bandits, and grab the kit.

Krom's Canyon

When you enter the zone, go right. Let the game lead you to it from there on, if you really can't find him, he is (from the perspective of the right side of the map being the only part of the map for this discussion) at the North West part of that Canyon.

His kit is a few jumps away, just keep following the path.

Tetanus Warrens

North of where you started, before you get to the fork in the road, on the left side. The repair kit is farther north, staying left, above some metal structures in the first corner, farthest North West.

Trash Coast

When you first enter, turn right and look at your map, you will see a fork in the road, go left then make your first right, the claptrap is in the middle of a bandit encampment right next to where a bunch of lava crab worms are.

If you find the shack on the ocean, its stright west of that and a little south.

Almost right in the middle of the SOUTHERN potion of the map..

The repair kit is on top of the pipe where the diamond leads. Follow it back to the trash pile, climb onto the pipe, and retrieve it.

Old Haven

He doesn't spawn, until you have completed the quest to save the claptrap from the cage. Once you have that quest enter the zone, and take the first right, and follow that street, as if you were heading towards the base of troopers that had/s the two turrets. He will be in a house...thing on your left, before you turn the corner to head towards that base.

His kit is on the rooftops.

Salt Flats

When you enter the zone, b-line for the huge piece of saw machinery. Once you enter its "area" (from the right side), take your first right, and you can't miss him.

Crimson Fastness

You kind of run into him, he will be next to like 5 of his dead buddies.

Is there no way to get this to pop with imported characters?

Yeah tried that and didn't work. Just have to do it with another character I guess
Edit: Got it to pop. Realized I never added the upgrade to my backpack

I can confirm that this achievement unlocked for me using an imported character. I found an old save on my 360 that had 39 backpack slots, imported it and completed the last rescue I needed (Earl's Scrapyard) and it popped immediately.

For me, it popped when I did the trap clap DLC before the Crimson Enclave.

Worth noting that the quest is marked with an exclamation point (!) on the map in your Echo

@cluch I'm not entirely sure but if you had all base game one's you might get it to pop by getting a dlc claptrap

Just something to make a note of. I would suggest doing this in Playthrough 1 since the SDU drop after completing the quests is not guaranteed in Playthrough 2. I attempted this in Playthrough 2 following the linked video above, did them all but the one in Old Haven gave me a grenade mod instead of the SDU I was expecting. I then changed over to Playthrough 1 and did the same claptrap in Old Haven (the one I was missing) and it gave me the SDU resulting in me getting the achievement.

You need to do the optional Claptrap Rescue missions to earn these. The one in Fyrestone doesn't count. There are 10 backpack upgrades (SDUs) in the main story and three more in the DLCs (not Moxxi). Each SDU grants 3 additional backpack slots.

I found that these were NOT found in playthrough 2. You have to run through (or back through) playthrough 1 in order to find all of them.

There are 13 SDUs. You need 10. I cannot confirm right now whether the 3 in the DLCs count toward the 10.

The locations show up as an exclamation point on your map. All of these locations are along story missions, so you will likely stumble across these as you go. The 10 locations where these are located are:

Safe House
The Lost Cave
New Haven
Tetanus Warren
Earl's Scrapyard
Krom's Canyon
Trash Coast
Old Haven
The Salt Flats
Crimson Fastness

The DLC locations are:
Lumber Yard (at Jakobs Cove)
Lockdown Palace (in the Sunken Sea, accessible by traveling to T-Bone Junction and then through The Ridgeway)
Tartarus Station

How do you run "back through" playthrough 1? If I've done all these on Playthrough 1 does that mean I have to start a new character/game?

No, when you start the game, it asks whether you want playthrough 1 or 2 if you've finished the story. It defaults to playthrough 2, but you can set it to 1. 2 is the new game+.

Wait, yes. If you've already done these, then you may need to start a new character. I did that for the all mission achievements just to be sure. I forgot I did that.

Cool thx for the clarification.

I can also add that on a playthrough 2, if you do the DLC claptrap missions that there's no SDU and no achievement that pops if you do it with an imported character. As you said though it seems like there's no SDU's on playthrough 2 though so not sure if the lack of SDU I got was because it was playthrough 2, because it was from the DLC pack, or if it just glitched on me.

I don't think they show up at all. I think you need to do a new playthrough 1. I used weapons from my other character. If that's not possible, you can potentially have someone help you power level up to 50 to make the run easier.

The entire story doesn't need to be completed, just up to the Crimson Fastness.

Also might be good to mention that the claptrap in Lockdown Palace has only a chance to give you a SDU. It's a 50/50 chance that he will give you a grenade mod instead.

I can confirm you will get this with the DLC SDUs. I sold or dropped or didn’t get one in the main campaign. I completed the one in Tartarus Station and it popped as soon as I used it.

For some reason the Claptrap in Earls Scrapyard didn't have a ! on my map

I’m doing a brand new playthrough anyway for story achievements, but to get this particular achievement, if you get an SDU on playthrough 2 to put you over 42, the achievement will unlock. I used the one from Tetanus Warrens (only some of them will work) and kept closing the game without saving until I got an SDU.

Edit: To clarify, I also transferred my characters from the 360 version.

Thanks @Arador!! I played through the game and only had 39, looked back at every zone listed and didn't see a leftover ! anywhere. Then I saw your post about the one in the scrapyard. I'm sure I didn't go through that branch of the zone, time to head back there...

To unlock the Fully Loaded trophy in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, you will need to collect 10 backpack upgrades and apply them manually. There are 10 backpack upgrades in the main story and 3 in the DLCs.

The locations will be highlighted with an exclamation mark on your map. You will visit each of the areas during the main story. The locations are listed below:

Main Story Locations:
Safe House
The Lost Cave
New Haven
Tetanus Warren
Earl's Scrapyard
Krom's Canyon
Trash Coast
Old Haven
The Salt Flats
Crimson Fastness

DLC Locations:
Lumber Yard (at Jakobs Cove)
Lockdown Palace (in the Sunken Sea, accessible by travelling to T-Bone Junction and then through The Ridgeway)
Tartarus Station

For this achievement you will need to complete every 'Claptrap Rescue' mission during the game to acquire an SDU upgrade that each give you three inventory slots. You will find these missions in most areas and on your map will be marked with a yellow exclamation mark and you will need to go to them and accept them, then find the toolbox to repair them and return to complete it. You will also need to do all of these missions as they count towards both "Made in Fyrestone" and "Made in New Haven". The clue to where you can find each mission is in the mission title, all of which I will detail below;

  • Claptrap Rescue: Safe House
  • Claptrap Rescue: The Lost Cave
  • Claptrap Rescue: New Haven
  • Claptrap Rescue: Tetanus Warren
  • Claptrap Rescue: Scrapyard
  • Claptrap Rescue: Krom's Canyon
  • Claptrap Rescue: Trash Coast
  • Claptrap Rescue: The Salt Flats
  • Claptrap Rescue: Old Haven
  • Claptrap Rescue: Crimson Fastness

This is the vague order you will do them in. You may do some in a slightly different order depending on where you go.

MISSABLE

This is the only truly missable trophy in the entire game.

Whenever you rescue a Claptrap you will get a Backpack SDU and for it to count towards this trophy you must equip it but don't sell, trade or drop it whatever you do else you'll need to either start a new character or use the second Playthrough to get any missed SDUs. Playthroughs 2 and 2.5 won't guarantee you get any SDUs you may be missing so make sure you get them all on Playthrough 1. You can get 3 more SDUs, one each from the Zombie Island, Secret Armoury and Claptrap DLCs but if you don't start them until Playthrough 2 or 2.5, then the chances of getting an extra SDU are extremely low. Don't change Playthroughs until you have this trophy, to prevent any possible problems.

The Repair Kits look like small brown, narrow, rectangular boxes which shimmer with a green light when you are near them and will show as Money Bag on your Compass. A Green Trophy Icon will also appear above the Repair Kit when you're close enough. The trophy will pop after rescuing the Claptrap in the Crimson Fastness, providing you got all the others beforehand.

This trophy isn't hard to get, you've just got to explore a little:

If you want a Picture Guide, then see here: LINK (credit to solstice for this).

It is also possible, even without the DLCs, to get extra Backpack SDUs on Playthrough 2 (we don't know about 2.5) but it's a lot harder to do so as the reward defaults to a Grenade Mod. In theory you can trick the game into giving you an SDU instead of a Grenade Mod by filling your Backpack with as much stuff as it will hold, Saving and Exiting, reloading then Turning In the Mission and reloading after quitting to the XMB (press then scroll down to "Quit Game") if you don't get one. This method is not guaranteed so only use it as a last resort.

Notes:

  • If playing in co-op then everyone present will get the SDUs (credit to Lurkki91 for this info).

  • The hidden Easter Egg Claptrap in Fyrestone, which is above and behind Marcus's shop, is not needed for this trophy and neither is the one from the Mission "Claptrap Rescue: Fyrestone'.

  • There are two Claptraps in Old Haven and you can't get the one you need for this trophy until Tannis's Claptrap has been rescued during the mission "Not Without My Claptrap", which makes it highly missable.

  • Another highly missable Claptrap is the one in 'Crazy' Earl's Scrapyard as you don't have a specific reason to enter the area where it's located.

One of the last Claptraps will be in the Old Heaven location, but when you come to the exclamation mark on the map you will not find it.

Don't waste time climbing onto the roof or trying to find him.

He will appear after the story mission, where you will need to free the story Claptrap from captivity in the same location.
Only after you free it will you have the required broken Claptrap on the exclamation mark in this location

If you ended up with 39 places, and everyone was found, then in the DLC with the revolution there is another one located at the end of the path of the Hyperion train
